Thousands of resettlers traveling west on the Oregon Trail used the shallow river ford, known today as McDonald Crossing, to traverse the lower John Day River on their way to the Willamette Valley and lands beyond. Today, McDonald Crossing is a rare confluence where national historic trail meets national wild and scenic river. At the McDonald Crossing interpretive site – a short distance from the western, Sherman County riverbank – a historic monument, ramada and informational signs help interpret the Oregon National Historic Trail and the area’s history.

I tried to get a timelapse of the meteor shower and it didn't come out like I wanted it to. This is the every frame from the timelapse combined with 2 meteors showing at the bottom.
A timelapse shot out my window a few days back...starts with some snowmelt, ends with some snowfall, and has plenty of cat activity near the window. About 4200 photos shot every 5 seconds with the camera on a tripod; and there are some slight gaps since my camera is limited to 999 shots at a time and I had to restart it a few times.
Shot with a Nikon d300s and Sigma 10-20, combined the photos in WMM (6 batches, as that program laughs, coughs, and dies when you import 4200 photos, even shrunk to reasonable sizes) and then combined those 4 videos in another WMM file.

I have been collecting a few timelapse i have done, I have only ever made them for myself, hence the quality. And since this video i have shot a large number of timelapses over the past month or so. I may be in the process of making another video. But i am not sure yet.
Another experiment with timelapse video. Shot with Olympus E-PL1 and 135mm manual lens.
Nothing particularly interesting about this moonset, just having some fun experimenting.
My first attempt to create a time lapse video.
Done using Nikon d5000 with Kit lens. Used a tripod and shot images in JPG format. I have used openshot to convert JPG to movie format and used background music - Album Greenfield by artist Ignacio Núñez www.jamendo.com/en/track/954771/greenfield
Filmed while sitting around by the Chatanika dredge on the night of 27Sep with a combination of a clear sky and particularly bright aurora.

Ran a time-lapse in the backseat of my car with a fisheye lens. The first half is 5 seconds, then it increases to 15 seconds due to the increasing exposure time.

A trip thru Henderson at night.
This was shot with the in camera time lapse video feature on my Canon 5DS. I did this one at 1 shot every second, then combined them at 25 frames per second to make the video. This was all done in camera, no PS or LR. Pretty simple, but not a lot of control of the product. The camera was in Movie mode and did all the settings itself.
Looking for any and all feed back on this project.
On my way home after a great night, I couldn't resist the beauty of the sunrise. So I got my camera and went down to the water to admire, and record it.

Recently I Got a chance to take advantage of a friends office on the 12th floor. (thank you Chris). The office is located near the Irvine spectrum.
I can not say enough about the Tokina 11-1. After renting it a few times, I realized I could not live without it. If you are a 7d owner (or any APS- Canon)
I highly recommend this glass.
Important note: Make sure the room is dark and the door is closed when shooting from inside a building. Most of large buildings in OC have tinted windows,the reflections are crazy when the sun goes down. You have to even turn off any computer monitors and cover any phones that might be flashing with messages. Anything and every thing will reflect in the window.

Making-of Images of the Christophmalin.com TimeLapse Movie "The Island" about the wonderful nature and starry skies of La Palma, Canary Islands.
This is a timelapse video of the night sky that I made with a MaxStone IR/Bluetooth remote and my Nikon D5100 still camera.
The MaxStone is an IR remote for cameras (many brands and models) that is programmed and controlled using an app on an iPhone/iPad/iPod touch (iOS devices). It uses a low-power Bluetooth link between the iOS device and the remote so you have a completely wireless remote connection from your iPhone (or iPad/iPod touch) to your camera. It also works in the opposite direction, functioning as a Bluetooth remote for the camera in your iOS device.
This video was created from 240 still images that were each triggered by using the MaxStone's timelapse feature (basically a wireless intervalometer for my Nikon D5100 camera). The video compresses about 28 minutes of time into a 10 second playback. You can watch as the clouds pass from left to right along with the stars setting in the western sky (and one or two planes crossing on the far left).
This was done only as a test, it's not meant to be a finished, entertaining, or quality piece of video.
