I got the second book in Michael Paul Smith's fictional Elgin Park series. This is a 2.5 lbs tome. Even better than the first one!

This one has a lot of how-to and details of his craft as a model builder (and model photographer).

You really have to study details to realize that these are actually model's (1:24 scale) of his vision of the ideal of the 50's and early 60's.

I dont know if reincarnation works - but if it does, I want to come back in 1:24's scale, sitting in an Impala convertible outside the Ice Cream Parlor on a warm, humid evening.

If you like old cars.scale models and photography - these are must have books.

You can see more of his work on Flickr under the tag Michael Paul Smith - and be forewarned - you will start thinking in terms of starting to build similar sets from your past!

Pataphysical Studios is building a Time Machine for our next art exhibit. On a balmy spring afternoon, Drs. Rindbrain and Fabio created more visualizations of what the Time Machine might look like.

We sketched out several ideas for the inside and outside walls, for discussion purposes. On each side of the main screen, we designed round portholes through which we could interact with our guests -- or show scenes from the past or future. Behind each porthole would be a magic box that could feature artifacts from distant times -- or the head of a historical figure, projected onto a ‘life cast’. The rest of the inside walls would be used for other interactive artworks such as the Crazy Clock, which sings quotes about time when you press its big green button.

On the outside walls, we sketched out a Face Box that you could stick your head in to get your picture taken. It would include an Infinity Mirror made of LED strips cycling through the colors of the rainbow, with a camera at the end of this light tunnel. We also sketched out where time wonderboxes could be placed on the side walls, proposing that the left wall focus on the past and the right wall on the future. A graphic timeline across both walls could support that idea.

It was a productive meeting and we look forward to presenting these ideas to our fellow doctors at the next Time Machine meeting.

The 'coral' supports are literally paper mache, and very fragile. In contrast to the Torchwood set, the level of detail is much less, as some of these shots reveal.

designed by W. A. Dwiggins, Random House, 1931.

‘Twas a dark and stormy Saturday afternoon at Pataphysical Studios, but the doctors braved the pouring rain and came out in droves to make art together.

We celebrated Dr. Figurine’s birthday in style, with a nice apple pie and small gifts ranging from a DVD on how to play the theremin to a handmade wooden box and stock in the Mind Shaft Society.

We all sat around our Time Machine framework and had stimulating discussions about our next pataphysical invention -- as well as our many related maker art projects:

• Dr. Rindbrain demonstrated the new remote-controlled lights for the Time Machine

• Dr. Fabio had his head examined after a rough encounter with a rose bush

• Dr. Canard prepared electronic supplies for students of the City of the Future class

• Drs. Figurine and Heatshrink started building a theremin together

• Drs. Really and Canard displayed an arted-up jug of ‘pataphysical water

• Drs. Canard and Fabio used a Ouija board to reach out to the spirit of Alfred Jarry

• Dr. Rindbrain painted another pair of shoes while discussing art with Dr. Zboon

• Dr. Fabio proposed ideas for the Time Machine controller, with the Ouija board as an example

• Drs. Figurine lit up the pataphysical flag pole with El Wire

A fine time was had by all and we kept learning from each other for the greater good.

In 3105 year one scientist invented a new time machine. He traveled in 1960 and found weird stranger, his name was Joseph. Next day they back to the future, Joseph very liked becoming here. And he stayed here! :)

My Entry For Bio-Cup 2020, Preliminary Round, Theme: The Future

The Eloi are simple and carefree people who live on the surface and eat fruit, while the Morlocks are an industrial lot who live underground to avoid the harmful light. They are two divergent evolutions of humankind; the Eloi are descendants of the worriless upper class who have grown placid with time, while the Morlock are mutations of the poor working class, forced to evolve underground to survive. Now, when night comes, the Morlocks venture to the surface to capture the Eloi, their primary source of food.

For my Future themed MOC, I decided to go with a vision from one of the very first Science Fiction stories, “The Time Machine” by HG Wells. In this story, humanity has devolved into two forms of the Eloi and Morlocks as an allegory to classism in 19th Century England. I tried to show off these differences by creating the two divergent characters of the Eloi and Morlock, contrasting scenes to depict their living conditions, as well as a mini-model of the visiting Time Machine. While the Eloi picks fruit from the trees on the surface, the Morlock slouches in its underground tunnel, preparing its tools for the next hunt.

saw this super old and dusty bike in my apartment and i tried to take a "meaningful" shot of it and this was the best one. -_-

it feels like my skills are getting rusty...

AND BY THE WAY I GOT MY LENSPEN AND NIKON ML-L3 REMOTE TODAY! ;D click click!

Each Saturday, the good doctors make art together at Pataphysical Studios.

Here are this week’s notable art projects:

• Drs. Really and Rindbrain created a banner for an art protest, ‘Traffic Jam Valley’

• Dr. Rindbrain developed ‘Magical Thought’, an illuminated wonderbox

• Dr. Fiske dropped by to record an impromptu video of Pataphysical Studios

• Dr. Figurine showed off the head and body of her Owl for our Dada Exhibit

• Dr. Fabio presented composite sketches for the Time Machine, based on team designs

• Dr. Truly demonstrated how to share videos on social media while lying flat on your back

• Dr. Canard discussed her Dada Mobile with Dr. Zboon, who then created a greeting card

• Dr. Fabio showed off a new circle design for the Crazy Clock, discarding its old frame

We then went on a nice walk to Oakwood Valley. On the way, Dr. Rindbrain re-discovered himself and nearby dimensions on a neighborhood pole. We then played in a secret grove of bay trees, deep in the heart of the valley.

I added TOPACES door fix to my model that add props to the model to allow you to prop the doors open so they do not drop closed.

See here for details of this fix: rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-107117/TOPACES/delorean-time-mac...

I also improved the detailing of the centre console, you can find details on this here: rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-110625/Simon%20Lenz/back-to-the-...

About Pataphysical Studios: pataphysics.us/

I bought a car. A very large, expensive car that broke down on the way home from the garage. I spent hundreds of pounds fixing the car and asked my friend (time engineer Chris Edwards www.flickr.com/photos/unyon/) to make me a flux capacitor to go in the cockpit (as you do) but before the time manipulator could be completed I lost my license to a magistrate. So now it sits on my mantelpiece, a static reminder of my inability to get to 88MPH and put right what once went wrong.

Merry Christmas Tunnelweasel.

It is, however, pretty awesome.

Dr. Figurine and I would like to bring characters to life by projecting videos of human faces onto her ‘life casts’ of David Bowie, Sean Connery and John Cleese.

To experiment more with this idea, we did a second test in my studio, to see if we could fit this exhibit in a small space. We used a video of my interviews with Dr. Canard and Dr. Zboon, placing our projector right below the David Bowie life cast, pointing at a mirror two feet away to reflect the light onto the cast.

The results of this second test were encouraging, as you can see in these photos:

www.flickr.com/photos/fabola/27904764975/in/album-7215766...

We would like to apply this projection mapping technique to our Time Machine art project. One idea is to project the faces of historical figures onto these ‘life casts.’
