Harris looking stunning yesterday in the Spring sun showing off all the Hebridean colours

beach walk ... the wooden remnants reminded me of an ancient castle or a rocky island ... with a bit of fantasy ;-) ... I was wondering whether people put it up or whether it was a result of the natural working of the elements.

I like the convenience of this smartphone with its three lenses and in camera processing... amazing how far technology got . It still isn't the quality of a real camera. Got a bit lazy ;-)

An exceptionally low tide by The Millennium Bridge, London.

...wait for no man (or woman). On the edge of Strangford Lough, Northern Ireland.

Little piles of kelp and tire tracks left behind by the receding tide.

I don't remember for sure which beach this was, but I think it was just a little north of Davenport, just outside of Santa Cruz, California.

The Oregon coastline reminds me quite a bit of the Northern California area especially in Monterey. It's rugged beauty can't be denied in my opinion. Just steps away from Haystack Rock looking towards to the South of Cannon Beach is this small rock that finds itself perched on the beach. Surrounding the rock is a pool of ocean water which was about knee deep or maybe a little more. The ripples from the wind on the water gave it just a little more depth when I was capturing it. Three images merged together in photomatix pro to bring out the colors in the tide pool.

Low tide at Hopeman Harbour at dusk.

When the tide is high, this little cabin is only accessible by boat.

The tide pools at Corona Del Mar, California at sunset.

A particularly low tide coinciding with dusk enabled me to get a shot of Tower Bridge from this location. There wasn't too much wind either, helping with the reflections.

Rip tides are strong sea currents which push away from the shore as a strong storm is near. They are formed by the strong winds pushing water towards the shore. Tropical cyclones' winds push waves up against the shoreline even if they are hundreds of miles away, so rip tide warnings are often the first indication of a nearby hurricane.

If caught in Rip tides do the following

1 Keep your feet on the bottom as much as possible.

2 Remain calm if a rip current begins to pull you away from shore.

3 Regain your footing if possible.

4 Call for help immediately if you can't swim well.

5 Swim parallel to shore to get out of the current.

6 Swim toward the shore once you escape the current.

Cromer, Norfolk. At the end of the pier you can see the new lifeboat station. Lifeboats have a long and precious history in Cromer. The North Sea can be rough. In the foreground flint rocks washed out of the limestone. The tides will continue to shape them until they end up on the beach, small and round.

Thames Beach at low tide near Millennium Bridge.

The North Esk River is tidal at the point where it meets the Tamar. If you look closely here you can see how low the tide level has fallen. That Gothic house is called "The Art House", and is a popular backpackers' place. It was built in 1888.

Despite continuing with the development of this red series in coming days, tomorrow I will give you a little surprise for some variety.

The river Elbe flows into the North Sea. It´s tides extend to the City of Hamburg and beyond. At high tide this sandbank is overflooded.

Die Elbe mündet in der Nordsee. Die Gezeiten der See reichen zurück bis nach Hamburg und darüber hinaus. Bei Hochwasser ist diese Sandbank überflutet.

When the tide is out in Daniels Bay the patterns formed by the reflections on the water and the sand produce a nice abstract effect.
