OL-1 heads south at Eldred with 6 loads of pipe bound for Port Allegany. Leading the train this morning was WNYP C430 430 and C424 435, with newer GE AC6000s 6002 and 6004 trailing. The GEez would be setout at Hawbaker to run a Driftwood Turn later in the day.
This was another job we completely lucked into. Originally, our sights were set on the Arcade and Attica, with B&P SIRI as a backup. With that in mind, we decided to tie up in Olean for the night since it was relatively close to both properties. However, we ended up finding out that the B&P didn't bring them cars, and figured they wouldn't run (so we thought, unbeknownst to us they ran Thursday AND Friday).
Prior to leaving Olean for Salamanca, we swung by the WYNP yard. And I'm sure glad we did. It was quite a surprise to see two Alcos leading the GEs, with a train, and moving in the right direction. The B&P would have to wait.
On this weekend when Winter Storm Elliot is raging in the country, a respite; the sun shone briefly during its descent, on this dangerously cold day!

A vibrant start to Thursday - I was setting up the home office and glanced out of the window - just had to grab the camera and dash down to the shore. Dawn on Loch Gilp at this time of year can be a real treat.
