Moving with his family from Oakland, CA Robert Spray settled in Tucson, AZ where he established a silkscreen shop. He began painting portraits as a student at McClymonds High School, which led to a scholarship at the CCAC. During the 1930s he was employed on the Federal Art Project. Screen printer Robert Spray beautifully captured Ted DeGrazia’s artistic style and color palette in this series of prints he produced for the DeGrazia Studios in the early 1950’s. Happy Throwback Thursday!

A very limited number of these unsigned and unnumbered screen prints are available for purchase in our gift shop at the Gallery in the Sun, $175.00 (unframed) or $250.00 (framed).

Dad and I after building the best wall unit we ever constructed. Dresser, entertainment stand, massive desk and bookshelves all connected to load baring walls. Sturdy as hell.

Little me, making a funny face. Must not have liked something?

A photo shows students walking past Brookens Library; it was taken circa 1985. The photographic history of SSU/UIS can be found online in Campus Archival Documents.

This is the camera I first started shooting on. It's a little point and shoot but you gotta start somewhere. 38/365

Students conduct research for their educational administration class in a photo taken circa 1970-73. The photographic history of SSU/UIS can be found online in Campus Archival Documents.

Throwback Thursday: this is a cheaply scanned pic of me from my senior year, 1994-95.

Note: Leather motorcycle jacket, senior class ring and the stance.

That leather jacket is falling apart now sadly. I always wanted to put it back in circulation but its day has passed.

Note also confidence and genuine smile....

From my first professional makeover in 2010.

Found these when going thru some old photos. These were taken in Arizona and Nevada, about 24 years ago. Traveling with a couple of 110 disposable cameras. Good times!

Photo taken in 2003.

I found this doll in a junk shop on Houston Street long before the Gentrification process began. You don't find things like this on Houston Street anymore. The doll was made in Germany.

How I miss seeing Bella in that afternoon light. San Diego, Ca.
