Radiology is the branch or speciality of medicine that deals with the study and application of imaging technology like x-ray and radiation to diagnosing and treating disease. Originally it was the aspect of medical science dealing with the use of electromagnetic energy emitted by X-ray machines or other such radiation devices for the purpose of obtaining visual information as part of medical imaging. Radiology that involves use of x-ray is called roentgenology. The modern day radiological imaging is no longer limited to the use of x-rays, and now includes technology-intensive imaging with high frequency sound waves, magnetic fields, and radioactivity..
We designed this imminently usefull website for Sunset Radiology, focusing solely on using large text based menus and sparse imagery to create a easy to use and beautifull webservice / site for this California based company
We added time dependant graphics (visiting the site at a late time of day would change the colorscheme to a more sunset like settings) and used actual medical imagery from scans performed during the previous day as backdrops for the site.
after decades of very sporadic use, the 20 metres of darning thread reached the end of the line, revealing a very touching Heinzelmaennchen (alluding to the company name Heinze) on the cardboard support. Good excuse to produce a thread of thread photos.

Some 35mm threaded through the gate. It's pin-registered. There's a motor just in front of the lens that rotates a cam that pushes the pins and pressure plate onto the film. You can see the top of light source assembly behind the gate.

Herb Robert .... Geranium robertianum ....... Family:- Geraniaceae
Herb Robert is a common wildflower found in the hedgerows of Britain. It is a species of cranesbill (Geraniums) found in Europe, Asia, North America and North Africa. It is known in America as Robert Geranium. The plant grows to a height of 150mm to 300mm (6 to 12 inches) and the small pink flowers (May to August) are 12mm (half inch) across with five pink petals. The stems are often reddish in colour whilst the green fern-like leaves also turn red after the flowering season. Herb Robert grows as an annual or biennial.
The genus name of Geranium comes from the Greek "Geranus" which means crane because of the crane's beak-like structure of the seed heads
Other names for this plant are Bloodwort, Puck, Death Come Quickly, Wren's Flower, Red Robin and Granny Thread The Needle,
Herb Robert is attractive to Hoverflies, bees and the Barred Carpet moth

Byssal threads hold a mussel firmly to the substrate. The threads, made of protein, are incredibly strong yet elastic, they can be stretched out to 160% of their length while still retaining 5 times the strength of an Achille’s tendon.

I don't know how often I took photos of this spool of thread for this month's color and then I didn't use it after all because I found something else.
St Andrew, Hasketon, Suffolk
The narrow lanes north west of Woodbridge thread through high banks of spring mallow and angelica, now and then coming together at honest, working villages, straight out of the pages of Akenfield. They are independent of each other, and often known for something. In Hasketon's case, it is the Turk's Head, its fine pub. Otherwise, this is not a village on the way to anywhere in particular. On visits over the years I have often not passed a soul as I head up from Great Bealings or down from Boulge. But Hasketon has one remarkable feature, for St Andrew has England's tallest church round tower, with its flint-set lancets and octagonal top. The scale makes the church against it seem small, but you step into a commanding space, aisleless but wide and full of light.
In several ways, this is a typical Suffolk village church. Not much evidence of its medieval life survives, but the restoration has left a pleasing, light interior. One reminder of earlier days is the 15th century font with its heraldic shields. On one occasion I came here just after the harvest festival, and it seemed a perfect setting for that most thoroughly Anglican of events. The north doorway was filled with yellow sprays erupting from an earthenware vase, and the decorative heraldic glass opposite was a perfect complement. There is also some decent later 19th century glass in the chancel by Lavers, Barraud and Westlake.
Two memorials catch the eye. One is in brightly painted alabaster and touchstone, full of the grandeur of the late 17th Century. It is to William Godstone and his two sons, merchants of the Greek city of Smyrna, the modern Izmir in Turkey. The other is host to an early 17th century elegy, typical of its period. It remembers William Farrar, who died on the eve of the English Civil War at the age of 15, and reads in part If on his yeares you looke, hee dyd but younge, If on his vertues, then hee lived long. He was the son of the rector.
The crowded churchyard is surrounded on all sides by hedges and roads. Two footpaths cross it, and seem to be in regular use as people walk from one part of Hasketon to another. St Andrew must feel at the heart of their village.
