Street photography from Glasgow, Scotland.
I see street photography as a privilege. The right to photograph anyone and anything in and from a public place for the purpose of art and documentary is not universal around the world. Rights can be taken away at any time, especially when abused.
I shoot courteously and always respect my subjects right to refuse to be photographed. I have always deleted shots when asked to do so.
On Thursday in Glasgow I was harassed by another street photographer. I don't have to justify why I turned my back to them as they tried to photograph me and I am not a hypocrite for doing so despite their protestations that I 'had a nerve'.
However, if someone indicates or tells you that they do not want to be photographed, if you continue to photograph them over and over again what you are doing can be classified as harassment, a criminal matter. Don't be a jerk and don't bully people.
I reacted out of a place of trauma and I am not proud of that but, as you all know, harassment formed a major part of causing my trauma in the first place. The point is that we, as street photographers, have a responsibility to treat people respectfully. This is deeply important if we want our 'rights' to continue in a world becoming increasingly wary of photographers and 'surveillance'.
This is why I take one shot and move on.
You don't follow people, chase them, take multiple shots or feel affronted if they refuse to be photographed.
Take care my Flickr friends. Take photos. Be kind to one another and I wish you a wonderful week in this crazy world.
I think I was nine or ten years old when my grandma surprised me with a new dress she had made for me.
When I saw it I couldn't believe that such a beautiful dress could possible be mine. It was the most beautiful dress I had ever seen. ...

I think here you can also notice the unusual shape of the beak, hence it being a broadbill.
I have all my photos organized in albums by species and family. However, so far, this is the only member of this family that I have photographed.
In my opinion, the most beautiful one is the black-and-yellow, but to capture it, I need to return to Malaysia and not miss the opportunity.

All my photos are now organized into sets by the country where they were taken, by taxonomic order, by family, by species (often with just one photo for the rarer ones), and by the date they were taken.
So, you may find:
- All the photos for this trip Vietname (2022) (206)
- All the photos for this order PASSERIFORMES (3553)
- All the photos for this family Eurylaimidae (Eurilaimídeos) (6)
- All the photos for this species Serilophus lunatus (6)
- All the photos taken this day 2022/12/12 (31)

I think it was around January that I first tried putting Blanca's coat on Tidda. She let me put it on, and I thought she looked adorable, but she had frozen into a stiff statue and wouldn't move a muscle till I took it off again!
She doesn't really need a coat since she has thick rugged fur, so I let it be. However, lately with our never-ending rains, I've been getting tired of constantly toweling her dry.
Since that first attempt, we've traveled down the track together a bit more and this time she only froze for half a minute and then seemed to forget all about it and ran around happily wearing this special mantle of honor! I love seeing Blanca's name on it.
The sky gets loaded. The beach gets empty.
The sea is now so lonely
I think it's going to rain today...
Le ciel est si blindé. La plage si désertée
Et la mer tout à coup est si esseulée
Je crois qu'il va pleuvoir aujourd'hui...

Who can tell where the journey of this rock began...
This is Lake Como, alias Lario. The town you see on the other shore is named Abbadia Lariana.
Shot this during the lunch break, to get to this spot takes just ten minutes of driving from my work place.
Straight out of the camera.
"Everglow"is about the feeling of warmth or happiness that comes with the sadness you feel when you think about a relationship, situation, or friendship that has now ended or will do someday, but I truly believe that the seeds of love, hope and peace we plant in this world will follow us into the next and the end is not the end, but the beginning of something new; something beautiful and when we look back, we will see that what we have sown we will reap … “ - excerpt from a short story, “Goodbye to H” - AP
Dedicated to my dear friend, Julie who brought me back … you and your Mum are in my thoughts and prayers xx

EVERGLOW - COLDPLAY
The closer we look the more we find
each precious drop; a diamond from Heaven
each tiny thorn; a poignant reminder
that all have a purpose in this world of ours
sitting in my enchanted garden
a snail coiled beautifully next to me
his iridescent glowing colours
a reminder of life's constancy
overhead the wind blows softly
the pink quince flowers on the bowers
softly blushing against the blue
clear skies always a kind reminder
that Heaven is near and all around you
each step we take a subtleness settles
on gentle shoulders filled with love
your countenance like the beautiful flowers
you photograph; bring peace like a morning dove
no need to thank me for my words
it is I who should be thanking you
and I do my friend with all my heart
for it is your words that brought me back and through
you see the darkness had descended on me
a betrayal by a very close friend
and I could only find words of sadness
but you changed all that; with the words you sent
so here I am in my Heavenly garden
writing these words that you deserve
and praying for you and your dear beloved
mother who brought an angel here to earth
each day is a miracle; each moment a blessing
and no-one knows how our stories end
but while we are here, we should be kind and loving
just like you my sweet, caring friend
I suffered betrayal at the hands of another
but I won't lose hope; I keep open my heart
for an end is not the end of our story
we go on; we live; we love; we start
right back at the beginning
when innocence was bliss
like the first Spring flower on a misty morning
and the sweetness of our very first kiss
our journey in this life may draw to a close
but the suffering we learned from
like the very first rose
we overcame and we blossomed
we gave it our all
and this day hope resurfaced
and we didn't fall.

The intense and captivating stare of a Kestrel is hypnotic - details of feathers leading the view straight into that gaze.
My favourite Bird Portrait so far, I should think :)
You can see the place we stayed in the eye.
We. went on a few trips this year. The most special was to Shetland. This otter appeared in the harbour feet from where we were staying. While it was fishing I grabbed my camera and sideled down one of the slipways. Remarkably the otter caught it's lunch and decided to eat it on the same slipway. I tried to retreat but it landed so quickly I ended up staying put. Having finished it's meal it came even closer to sniff me out before deciding I didn't smell so good and popping back into the water. An amazing experience and one I will always remember.
They think they're so clever, shuffling their little schemes and side-eyes across the garden court. Let them whisper behind their fans, let them bluff with their painted smiles and hollow promises. I see every tell, every nervous flutter of lashes, every bead of sweat masquerading as morning dew.
The thing about holding the Ace of Hearts? You don't show it. You let them play their hands—let them think they've got you figured out with their twos and threes and desperate kings. You smile. You sip your wine. You watch them double down on nothing.
And when the moment's ripe, when they've bet everything on their mediocre cards and puffed-up confidence?
That's when you lay it down.
The crowd always gasps the same way—half outrage, half admiration. But honey, I stopped playing for their approval ages ago.
I play to win.

Went looking for some mushrooms again in Hagley Park. Finally found the type/species I was hoping to find. This is a focus stack of 100 images each at 1/100 sec, f/2.8. ISO 100
On March, the 28th there was the official presentation of the new Oceanogate lok. The Angel Train E483 020 now wears this colorfull livery for Oceanogate a Contship company. (2012-03-28)
I think I enjoy a visit to the seaside on a sunny winter's day more than I do a visit in the middle of summer. The less people the better as far as I'm concerned. I had a beautiful day when I visited in early March with some lovely light. I loved the colours that the Portra film produced in this, the perfect film for these kind of conditions.

I think this is the last color one from her set. The rest are b/w's. Sorry!
I'll have some other color shots from my maternity session this past weekend if I post them.
Have to post and run today - might be back on later to catch up. :)

Think I said this location was a pine tree plantation in another description. I've since discovered they are Poplars. The hint is in the entrance to the fishery which has a large sign that says 'The Poplars Fishery.'
The Canada Geese are still nesting at the other end of the pond which arguably offers better compositions so I stayed at this end and left them in peace.
I can definitely see the attraction of fishing here. Once inside the plantation it really is like you are transported to a different world.
