On a big multistemmed willow growing in waterlogged ground at the edge of the Quoile Basin - I could see that a lot of the willow branches were dead and it looked like a tree in terminal decline.

I kept hearing noises on our back porch, but, I couldn’t see anything. Finally, wth a flashlight, I saw her and later I saw the four kittens. Mama isn't much more than a kitten, herself. I don't think she's much more than a year old !!

Street photography from Glasgow, Scotland.

I see street photography as a privilege. The right to photograph anyone and anything in and from a public place for the purpose of art and documentary is not universal around the world. Rights can be taken away at any time, especially when abused.

I shoot courteously and always respect my subjects right to refuse to be photographed. I have always deleted shots when asked to do so.

On Thursday in Glasgow I was harassed by another street photographer. I don't have to justify why I turned my back to them as they tried to photograph me and I am not a hypocrite for doing so despite their protestations that I 'had a nerve'.

However, if someone indicates or tells you that they do not want to be photographed, if you continue to photograph them over and over again what you are doing can be classified as harassment, a criminal matter. Don't be a jerk and don't bully people.

I reacted out of a place of trauma and I am not proud of that but, as you all know, harassment formed a major part of causing my trauma in the first place. The point is that we, as street photographers, have a responsibility to treat people respectfully. This is deeply important if we want our 'rights' to continue in a world becoming increasingly wary of photographers and 'surveillance'.

This is why I take one shot and move on.

You don't follow people, chase them, take multiple shots or feel affronted if they refuse to be photographed.

Take care my Flickr friends. Take photos. Be kind to one another and I wish you a wonderful week in this crazy world.

A photo of a robin I took at Llyn Elsi in Betws-y-Coed. It was a bit interested in us and stayed close in case we had some food. With the branches I think I got quite a nice imge.

While I sit here at the computer with a hot water bottle strapped to my sciatica via a knotted flanno shirt, and another hottie waiting for me already in bed ( hot water bottle ), the pain is finally easing and I just want to be lulled to sleep, with no dogs barking at wallabies, no getting up and down to let the girls in and out ... in and out, all flamin' night ... just want to ease my mind of all the stuff going on lately, all the things I'm supposed to be doing but can't, all the humans who've annoyed the crap outta me lately, all the favours other people expect from me with no thought of lending me a hand,

…. all the ... all the … zzzzzz…..

Off to bed extra early folks, a huge thank you for all your support, with apologies I'm behind in some visits, and other visits too quick with faves and no comments, a stream of unanswered/unread Flickr mails waiting … I am so blinkin' tired..

no ed's..

Now I think she did...

So I think I have finally defeated the flea bags (squirrels) as I never saw a one at the feeders yesterday (there are four all together). And it was amazing how many more birds showed up to feed! I have two squirrel proof feeders and the suet cage and then I scatter some seeds on the ground as lots of the birds like to eat there. Cardinals do both but seem to prefer the ground. The Squirrels would come and gobble all the ground seeds up and then to the top of the pole to eat the suet. What did I do? I bought a big bottle of Cayenne pepper! I rubbed it on the suet and mixed it with the ground seeds. My ground is now red with the stuff but the squirrels... ha! They seem to have taken themselves off back into the woods to eat their natural foods. :) I hope I never see one again and if I do, I will be sure to greet it with lots of the hot stuff! I may sound mean to some, but the bird seed has gone beyond expensive and I buy it for birds not squirrels. And seriously, there is plenty of their natural foods around the area. There were four of the male cardinals yesterday. :)

You can see the place we stayed in the eye.

We. went on a few trips this year. The most special was to Shetland. This otter appeared in the harbour feet from where we were staying. While it was fishing I grabbed my camera and sideled down one of the slipways. Remarkably the otter caught it's lunch and decided to eat it on the same slipway. I tried to retreat but it landed so quickly I ended up staying put. Having finished it's meal it came even closer to sniff me out before deciding I didn't smell so good and popping back into the water. An amazing experience and one I will always remember.
