Long write-up for today's batch of awesomeness.
First off. This whole covid thing, the election, working from home, not being able to go out, not seeing friends/family, etc. Has me, and I'm sure everyone else frazzled. Having a project to work on, in my case hiking out and shooting photos of graffiti on trains has been the one thing that's keeping me sane at this point. Hoping to see some new pieces from writers that I respect is like opening a pack of baseball cards and finding your favorite players rookie card for me. Yeah, it sounds goofy, but I've been having fun, staying sane, and seeing and capturing some amazing pieces of rolling art.
So I had this weird Monday vacation day on 11-2-2020. I decided to drive out to one my my benching spots and hang out for the day.
The plan was to set up a time lapse camera, and then just hang out and bench freights for 5-6 hours. There wasn't a cloud in the sky and a slight breeze, 88F. high. No clouds makes for a very boring time lapse between trains coming by. I also only brought my little Small Rig clamp for the time lapse camera and couldn't decide where I wanted to clamp it. I should have just brought a tripod.
Out for a few hours before the BNSF guys in their truck rolled up, got out and started walking toward me. "Great!" I thought. They're going to try and chase me away. Nope, they walked over to one set of tracks, walked across the bridge inspecting the tracks, then under the bridge inspecting the bridge, got in their truck and left. I like that. I don't bother you. You don't bother me.
A while later I see tree guy coming back home. I don't know his name, but there's a guy who lives in/under a tree that's next to the trail I hike in on. Once he's in there you'd never know it. I've seen him, he's seen me, and we don't bother each other.
The whole time I'm there I'm using my little Tascam recorder to record train audio every time one comes by so I have audio for the slideshow videos I've been uploading on YouTube. Well, this time I forgot it out there. Didn't dump my photos until Tuesday night and discovered it missing. Woke up early, drove out and it was still there. It recorded for almost 5 more hours before the batteries died. Glad to have it back, I thought tree guy might have found it.
An on-the-fly salad/slaw type thing with red cabbage, broccolini, mini cucumber, scallion, red radish, asparagus, cilantro, too soft goat cheese, and a shiitake sesame dressing. Pretty tasty.
It was one of those "driving home" visions. I have some work to do to make it pop, but it was pretty tasty. Lots of bitter (which I like) but it might benefit from some green apple... #salad #food #visions

Look, kid. Before you file that report that lands both of us working graveyard security shift on an arctic garbage scow for the rest of our lives let's just both agree that neither of us saw a giant arm out there moving around on its own.
trying to figure out why free air compressor barely builds pressure, I'm kind of tired of fixing things
Moltar on the left was the original figure for the Thing custom on the right.
I think they did a good job !

The vessel known as FLIP may be the strangest thing on water: a 355-foot research vessel that is towed to to sea, then partially submerged so that its sits stable in the water like a buoy. These photos were given to us by Scripps. Read more about this oddest of sea creatures (and see video of the flip itself) at www.madmariner.com/vessels/story/SCRIPPS_FLIP_121108_VX

The yearly Ol' Marais River Run car show was held on Sept. 19-20, 2009 in Ottawa, KS, just outside Kansas City. Here are a few photos taken during the HUGE event...over 1500 cars, all pre-1972 were shown. The setting is in the wonderful city park with lots of grassy spaces and mature trees for shade. And...best of all...the admission is FREE!!!
I really need to expand my shooting with the RB67. It's big, but I should go take it places instead of doing shots like this.
Love the film (Ilford FP4), love the sharpness of the 140mm lens, love the framing, but something about my shots with this camera lack "soul". I don't know if 6X7 fits me, it's not square, but not quite not square...and that bust looks right by me, at the thing that must be waiting to eat me. :P

Still waiting on my battery charger to arrive....I may actually bite the bullet and go buy another one today during lunch. I"m missing taking my photos every day!
Of course, you guys can probably tell that I fell in love with every thing about Savannah. From the spanish moss to the quaint shops to the squares to even every little crystal on the chandeliers!
May MSH Entry - "Every Little Thing"
This 1973 Volkswagen Thing has had quite a bit done to it. We had it stripped down to bare metal and Epoxy primed for rust protection. Then we began the rust repair there were a lot of panels that need small patches, the fenders were repaired, new floor pans were installed and the front nose panel was replaced. Mechanical and electrical systems were gone through and repaired to get the car back up and running. A new top and interior will be next.

I decided against a blade and opted for the heavy push bar instead. The "wedge" shape should push smaller trees to the sides of the machine... Hopefully I'll get lots more done tomorrow...

There is a gremlin standing (man standing up) on the front mudguard of the bicycle, is the gremlin trying to make this boy's first ride on a bike end as a disaster. The boy is riding on grass so it will be a soft landing.
Is the front brake going to be jammed on by the gremlin?
