I have my grandmom's old sewing box and found tiny spools of thread and little thimbles.. I am not a seamstress but I do love the contrasting textures.

Eyre: Hey, Lulu, can we talk to you about something?
Lulu: Sure! What about?
Eyre: Uh, well,..uh...
Cherry: Be nice about it!
Eyre: Shut up Cherry or you do it.
Cherry: Fine, I will, so there. Okay, um...Lulu, you know we love you, but-
Eyre, interrupting: It's about your hair.
Lulu: My hair?
Eyre: Yeah it's gotten just a little too...foofy.
Cherry: And lopsided. Generally off-putting.
After talking with my dear friend, Paige, I decided to take a "two for one" photo - two collections in one picture. Almost every summer as a kid, we would take a two week family vacation to some place in the USA. Mom decided that my sister and I should each have a collection of something to help remember our travels. Shelly collected spoons and I collected thimbles. Now as an adult I continue the tradition. When on a trip, there are three things I have to buy: a spoon, a thimble, and an ornament (or key chain we can make into one) for Mom. Dad gets whatever I find that I think he will find interesting. I picked up this thimble in La Mancha, Spain, a place famous for windmills and Don Quijote. I paired it with another souvenir - mud people. This is Don Quijote (or if you prefer- Quixote) and his faithful sidekick Sancho Panza. PS - While writing this post, I remember that Cervantes (the author) died in April and Don Quijote was a fool. Happy April Fool's day. (no pranks in this post, btw)
71/365 We have a tradition in our family to bring back thimbles from wherever we travel (And I love travelling) The last place I travelled to was to Kerala last October (I know that thimble isn't in this photo but it was displayed on one of the higher holders and I was feeling a little too lazy to grab a chair!) I am definitely craving a holiday, and am hopefully going to Rome next month so am looking forward to that!

My artist's mannequin was really excited about helping to load the potpourri into the bowl. He's very nice that way.
While not of the style Silk Thimble typically offers, this is a good example of my general millinery techniques.
