I buckled down this morning and did all the stitching on the binding. Voila! I'm delighted with this simple and cheerful quilt for the summer. I used a charm pack, plus additional fabric (not from the same line) for the borders and backing. The binding is the same fabric as the back, as I really liked it. Instead of quilting it, I tied it, using a random placement of blue and green embroidery floss knots. It's about 60" square.

i wear a thimble on my thumb while i do my funky, self-taught method of hand-quilting. and while i love my leather thimble, it has a slit on the top for long finger nails. of course, the eye of the needle jams right into that place and still pokes my poor thumb. so i glued this piece of rubber to the top. it works great.
I received this wonderful New Year's surprise from a fellow beader. She found out that I collect thimbles and sent me metal Chinese thimble with pandas together with beautiful scarf and fun wood key-chain. Thank you, Natalia!
In very old faith, a ring, a coin and a thimble must be baked in the wedding cake. The one who gets the ring gets happiness. The one who gets the coin gets wealth. The one who gets the thimble remains eternal virgin.
One of my favourite little finds. I have backed it with some lovely old wallpaper and had a lovely time playing with arrangements of thimbles, keys and cotton reels!
Not from the stash box. This is the one "precious" thing my grandmother made a point to give to me before she died. Gram was a lifelong stitcher/quilter/crafter, and of her thousands of offspring, I think I'm the only one to have carried that on.
