These last remnants of a long gone northern Illinois farm are poised to be swallowed up by nature soon....

I discovered these remnants on the last steps to the dock, noting two or three more on the lake bottom, and then another two on the bank. Something had discovered and devoured an entire clutch of duck eggs. I have a nesting box by the shore near the dock and have seen ducks (mainly hooded mergansers) regularly inspect it, but the only birds I ever knew to use it were a pair of house swallows and that only once. Unbeknownst to me, it was apparently in use this year as these remains surrounded the site. A mystery as to what feasted on these eggs as there are numerous suspects.

These violent delights have violent ends

These two males kept this fight going for better part of two minutes .

The noise of the wings slapping actual bought our female Sparrow Hawk to the scene in hope of a possible ''distracted meal'' :-(

Thank you for taking the time to view.

My best regards .. Martin

… These beautiful white teeth belong to my friend the Philippine croc (Crocodylus mindorensis), who likes to keep an eye on things in his corner of the Reptiles Pavilion without attracting unwanted attention.

These are pretty. They like open sunny spaces. I enjoy the mussed up petal arrangements and rich color.

These impressive falls can be seen from the overlook (where I took this photo) or from the end of the gorge trail at the bottom (www.flickr.com/photos/aleadam/22333698393/)

According to my wife, this photo has the shape of a heart. Go figure that...

These small ducks nest in trees and have amazing flying abilities, they can easily navigate through the trees avoiding branches with ease. This particular female was nesting in a tree trunk and made several sorties out of her nest into neighboring pond.

These teeny flowers are growing in the grass all around our flower beds. So I got on my belly and took a look:)

Inexplicable oddities sometimes occur in photographs))))

These birds are not liked as they have the habit of laying their eggs in the nest of others… but they are quite handsome. Seen near Nutter’s Battery, Central Park, New York.

These roses are a climbing variety, and they utilize other trees and shrubs for their support. A few of these roses are in single bushes, but most are seen cascading down from the branches of other vegetation...

These hummingbirds nest in the Davis Mountains of far West Texas.

these tiny flowers are less than an inch across, probably less.

it almost takes a macro lens to properly appreciate them.

textures credited to susan gary of glorious nature and a few from "flypaper textures."

susan, paul and jill: many thanks.

These purple giant hyssop flowers really attract the pollinators now in late summer and early autumn. If you want to see lots of insect activity on a nice sunny day, visit a patch of giant purple hyssop plants soon. You might even spot this marvelous monarch mimic there.

Always sad to see our relatives in captivity.. there's still a lot to learn for the human race.

These guys are looking absolutely stunning at the moment

These are four of the regular visitors to my backyard. Now that the snow is gone and fresh greens are sprouting, I am not seeing them much at all. I miss them already. This was during a February blast of snow.

These Peaches and more came from a tree my Father in law planted years ago at my brother in laws home, my wife made a Peach cake Yesterday.

These white-tailed deer are enjoying one last day of easy walking here at Lake Meyer Park. All in all, we can't complain too much about the approaching snowstorm since we normally have several inches of snow piled up on the ground by December 1st.

These three dishes have pink in them and they are setting on pink, Pretty in Pink....Looking Close on Friday.

These scorching Michigan lilies remind me of the Fourth of July fireworks we didn't get to see going off in the night sky this year. Three more lilies are set to start blooming any day now. These large and lovely native lilies grow up to seven feet tall! This plant was growing in a sunny wet sedge meadow here in the park.

These little birds are on the UK Conservation Red list

They are often seen perched on hedges, posts or wires, singing their jangling song. In the summer they prefer open farmland and in winter they may be found in stubbles, root crops, weedy fields and cattle yards or stockyards.

These are the beautiful Lammermuir Hills which separate East Lothian from the Scottish Borders. The hills are a traditional place for sheep farming. We were heading south-east to the small town of Duns and had decided to take this narrow country lane that runs through the hills and towards the village of Longformacus. The Southern Upland Way, a Long Distance Route which crosses southern Scotland, passes through the village whose name is derived from the Gaelic Longphort Mhacais, meaning 'Macas's camp'. Duns, where we planned to take lunch, is just a few miles further on.

I, I'm a new day rising

I'm a brand new sky

To hang the stars upon tonight

I am a little divided

Do I stay or run away

And leave it all behind?

It's times like these you learn to live again

It's times like these you give and give again

It's times like these you learn to love again

It's times like these time and time again

These lovely pink Clematis were peeking through the fence, just 2 escaped from the garden and did a peek a boo through the fence. Phorto was taken near Dundareve area of West Vancouver.

These are two plants that have wandered into my garden. The blue one is Viper’s bugloss. It’s been covered in bees all summer. The white one is Oxeye Daisy. This is described as very attractive to humming birds, which amused me as there aren’t any in the UK. Although, who knows….

Both plants are described as invasive, time will tell. They will have to take on the wild carrot.

These leaves are from a huge Maple tree near our house.

These are probably the largest lilies that I've come across. There were a few stems of these growing in a local park's garden this past summer.

Thank you for your views and comments, they're so appreciated! Have a great day!

These fish did not get away! Probably bluefin tuna caught in the waters around Prince Edward Island, Canada. At the fishing harbour of North Malpeque.

These toadstools were growing from under the bark of a dead oak tree. Although it doesn't look like it in this photo they were on stalks, rather than bracket fungi. I haven't been able to identify them and would be really happy if someone could. They are perhaps 30-40 mm across & 60-90 mm high.

These eastern birds are a rare sight in our garden. It was thrilling to have this young male Redstart hang around for a couple of days.
