These two male great blue herons had a confrontation over the nest at lower right. The bird on the right was on the nest calling out presumably to a mate when the other male showed up. The second male was chased off and the first male continued its calls.

For the Macro Monday's "One of these things is not like the others" theme.

Title inspired by Kermit the Frog : )

Thanks for viewing and happy Macro Monday!

These are also spoons, however the other sides, so they could very well be forks or knives ;-)

These males are very territorial and will court females by flicking there wings open and performing an aerial dance in front of them. The scientific name Odonata which is the order of the major group that Dragonflies and Damselflies belong to is actually derived from the Greek word 'oden', meaning 'tooth', which refers to the strong toothed jaws that all the Odonata posses.

These were out in force today

These old trucks from the International to the Ford Rugby are ready to be sold to a happy home to be restored or become lawn ornaments.

These birds are very shy and difficult to see. They stay in small groups on the forest floor and rarely come out into the open.

These are not the most liked birds in the world but they do have an amazing amount of colour in them in a certain light.

These teeny, seemingly fragile, very beautiful little Rosemary flowers are on a little plant in a 4" pot in the greenhouse. Is at max 1:1 magnification and also taken in aps-c, so effectively 1.5x, but with a 1.0 d.o.f. and a bit of a crop thrown in.

They were pretty awkward to photograph - I took some photos first and then uploaded in order to get an idea of what they were like, which didn't really help that much as even with the 20x was difficult to tell what was what on these pretty complex flowers, then I took a lot of various little flowers and angles but only a couple worth keeping. A bit hit and miss to say the least :^)

See Maaddi's Gorgeous Take

We found our place

On the branch of an old gum tree

Our feet would sway

To a voice in the breeze

And birds would sing

On the banks of a narrow stream

These memories will stay with me

We made our way

To a hill beside the sea

With salt in the air

And sand on our feet

We felt the sun

As it burned upon our skin

These memories will stay with me

Now I am far away

These memories still remain

Now I'm far away

You stay with me the same

Now I'm far away

These memories still remain

I used up all the plain flour making these clouds. this is taken in my favourite golden fields which are so nice and orange at this time of year. I love seeing how nature changes throughout the seasons

These little birds love to forage on the ground.

These small plants have found a home among the decaying railroad ties, a perfect ecological niche.

EDIT

After posting, it occurred to me that this looks like an image to which selective color was applied. Actually, only a few spots on the wood beams were desaturated; otherwise, the colors are pretty much the way the way they appeared.

these two were on a coconut tree behind my house. I shot them from 15 feet away

And they know what is food

You wan see how they watch parent coming back with food

As the ilse is closed now (covid), I did the photo from the other side, so distance is lower (7m-10m) but sun is in front.

These are some of the biggest clouds I've seen at golden hour in Monument Valley in my last 4 trips. If you have a great shot of MV with nice clouds consider yourself lucky. :) This was taken during a 4 day blitz of the southwest with Flickr friend and photographer William McIntosh.

Thanks for taking the time to take a look at my photos, and as always, your views, comments, faves, and support are greatly appreciated!! Have a great weekend everybody!! :)

These great egrets are playing leapfrog as they hunt for real frogs!

And did you feel it,

in your heart,

how it pertained to everything?

...these rocks and stones have really been slippery...have a good weekend ahead. Stay healthy and safe. Thx, Udo.

These were the last tasks in our painting course before the summer holidays. Our painting teacher brought us a couple of photos of birds that we were supposed to use as templates, but then freely and newly interpret them in an imaginative and colorful way on an abstract background. Acrylic on canvas, each 30x40 cm

Theses birds were very vocal

These petunias seem to be subject to some sort of somatic mutation, where the color gene(s) are not expressed in an early cell, and the white spot that cell develops into enlarges as the flower grows. I think. At any rate, these petunias are both beautiful.

Thank you for looking. Isn't God a great artist?

These birds are fast fliers (approx. 50 mph/80 kph) and it's always a challenge to get a sharp shot as they zoom by. But bright light, a fast shutter speed, and practiced technique make it possible to highlight their beauty!

Have a great day, everyone...

These western birds have far more white on their backs than their eastern counterparts. Still as cheeky though and during the breeding season can be problematic when defending their territory, even knocking cyclists off their bicycles

A beautiful visitor of my garden after enjoying a lunch took this pose for a photo

These lovely flowers are blooming in my neighbor's garden. Mine will be popping out soon!

These birds are annoying. You cannot get close to them. If you do, it's only by accident, because you did not know the bird was in the tree you approached until it leaves at 150 mph, cackling at you all the way. VERY annoying...

These little Bewick's wrens are quite chatty as they explore their surroundings. This one told me to look for it in a bush, then soon emerged to this blackberry vine, and struck a classic wren pose.

Millions of years of wind, water and sand have created these rock formations. Indirect light in the late morning conjure up a picture of the colorful sandstone with many color gradations.
