The young man was talking on this phone in some African language while I waited for him to hang up, disguising himself. As it was taking too long, I just looked at him and pointed at my camera. He nodded, I photographed him and I did that gesture, I think Buddhist, of thanking, with my hands together, to which he replied equally, without hanging up.

Story Time: Meeting a Libyan Family in a Train Across Germany Last Sunday I was in a train from Munich to my home town where I grew up. The train I rode in was one of the old ones with the compartments for 6 people each. There I joined a family with 2 kids. Young kids in trains can be a little annoying at times but these two where so friendly and loaded with energy it was fun. After some time I got into a conversation with the father and another train rider. The story that unfolded was heartbreaking. The family is from Libya, their house got destroyed and the youngest son has a lung disease. They have been going from country to country for a couple years and now for the past 2 years they stayed in Germany. Getting good treatment for the boy and also now they finally are able to search for a job to work as well. These stories show how good we have it in so called “first world countries”. But also the responsibility to take on the refugees. To care for them and to provide opportunities to make their lives better. I am really happy that this family told a rather positive story. Despite all the struggles they are going through. I am happy that they get the health treatments for their son. And I am happy that I have met these people and shared the train ride with them. You can make a difference. Never forget that. #story #instastory #TheWeekOnInstagram #libya #germany #health #motivation #inspiration #portrait #power #energy #lybia #family #struggles #strong #staystrong #makeityourlife #help #refugees #war #warstory #resultsofwar #firstwirldproblems #weHaveItGood #IfYouCanBreatheEverythingElseIsEasy #vsco via Instagram ift.tt/2vPdAhj

I tried to photograph this young lady as she crossed the street with her cane. While I failed miserably, she entered a lottery. I waited for her to leave and asked to photograph her. She nodded but did not stop walking towards me.
