It's Fall, there's Fall colors reflecting from the pond, the falling leaves and the migrating ducks that gathers around the ponds, pools, and reservoir in Central Park, NYC.
Above is the female shoveler at the Pool in Central Park, NYC.
With its chin tucked close to the wings, even the Great Blue is feeling the chills at The Pool in Central Park, NY.

First time out with Grandson since last March.
We meet at Staunton Harold Reservoir to see if we could find the Ring-necked Duck, but we couldn't, so we moved onto Melbourne.

Double take on this one we spotted it on the sluice and put it down as Pied Wag, but when we repositioned for shots we saw it was a White Wag.
Ruby-crowned Kinglet posing for me at the Pool in Central Park, NYC.
A tiny bird seemingly overflowing with energy, the Ruby-crowned Kinglet forages almost frantically through lower branches of shrubs and trees. Its habit of constantly flicking its wings is a key identification clue. Smaller than a warbler or chickadee, this plain green-gray bird has a white eyering and a white bar on the wing. Alas, the male’s brilliant ruby crown patch usually stays hidden—your best chance to see it is to find an excited male singing in spring or summer.
Cool Facts :
... The Ruby-crowned Kinglet is a tiny bird that lays a very large clutch of eggs—there can be up to 12 in a single nest. Although the eggs themselves weigh only about a fiftieth of an ounce, an entire clutch can weigh as much as the female herself.
... Ruby-crowned Kinglets seem nervous as they flit through the foliage, flicking their wings nearly constantly. Keeping an eye out for this habit can be a useful aid to identifying kinglets.
... Metabolic studies on Ruby-crowned Kinglets suggest that these tiny birds use only about 10 calories (technically, kilocalories) per day.

A quick visit turned into a two hour wander around, trying to get to take advantage of the super but changeable light.
Have been to the Sutro Baths in SF on a few occasions in the past. I got an e-mail from another social networking group which listed this event for last Saturday evening as a photo tour with a price involved. The price was modest but I did not feel worthy, so I broadcast the event for Sunday Oct09 instead with some local Flicr Friends. Their efforts are as follows:

This was harvest moon for the season and a full moon for the month! This shot comes before the full moon rose from the opposite horizon. I has other choice words for the title of this piece such as "Pond Scum," but I figured a title such as "ThePool" might be easier on the ears as the photo is on the eyes. Did some controls on this with the sky, sea, and pool all adjusted separately. It was very dramatic in the viewfinder & I wanted to give the RAW image that same justice.

In between our two visits to Staunton Harold Reservoir, for the R-nD, we popped down the road to 'The Pool' in Melbourne, also in Derbyshire, were this shot was taken.

The light was beautiful this afternoon, so we went to Swithland to see if the Great Egret was showing, it wasn't, so re-routed to Melbourne.

Taken at 'The Pool' in Melbourne, South Derbyshire in not very good light, but wanted to see what had arrived since our last visit a couple of weeks ago.
We were expecting to see Goosander, which we did, but not in the numbers we expected.

Only a few small areas of open water, otherwise frozen solid.
Having got out he walked across the ice to a larger pool where the Red-crested Pochards were.

Checked the weather forecast last night and rechecked this morning - Sun all day was promised.
It was full sun when we left our home but when we got to Melbourne (10 miles away) no where to be seen.
The birds were about, now at least 2 pairs of Goosander, but the light didn't get the memo and was very variable with little sun.
Note: Lots of group shots so still processing them, upload them tomorrow.
A return visit to 'The Pool' in Melbourne, South Derbyshire to re find and get some better shots of Goosander. We eventually located a female feeding under hover hanging trees, unfortunately she was being pursued by a feeding close bye and continually upsetting the goosander who eventually moved off, and we couldn't relocate.
Got some great consolation shots on the walk out.

Not been out and about much recently, due to the rain and COVID restrictions, so as today was going to be quite sunny for the morning at least we went to one of our local patch sites on the Leicestershire/Derbyshire border. for our birding walk.
We had the place to ourselves till around 11:30 when it got a little busier, so we left with lots of shots in the can

..in compagnia di Nespyxel, Freddy Adams e Jajaxel.....questa è la splendida piscina sulla terrazza dell' Nh Grand Hotel Palazzo a Livorno
Taken at 'The Pool', Melbourne, South Derbyshire.
This is 15 minutes from us and we go here when the forecast predicts morning sun. when afternoon sun is forecast we would go to Swithland Reservoir in Leicestershire, which is 8 minutes from us.
The problem with this strategy is you get the same birds, but we can't go any further due to COVID.
