This Cattle Egret had no qualms about challenging the Goat for the right to eat in this specific patch of grass. It's difficult to say from the Goat's expression, but I would say it is nonplussed.

Cabrito en la granja

Without knowing what you are

Agitated, uncertain, bitter

Unbewailed acts, you get indulged in

Constantly chew over trifling things

Desires become intense, severe

you seek to satisfy them, however

without discrimination of right or wrong

burning to mould plans in the phrenic kiln

you become devil incarnate, the epitome of sin

Life without peace for self and kin

you diffuse it the world all over

The body-minded living being, poor

dragged to agony, sorrow and despair

Along with a sin, a sinner is born

Right with the tort, the punishment wrought

The senses and the mind, crave unabated

boundless worldly pleasures uninterrupted

Entire life the fool heedless spends

following all their needless demands.

To entertain the body and the mind,

please the desires of a mortal frame,

gathers an own mound of sins

deep in the hidden dark cabins

concealed along with its innate beauty

Sweet treasures of golden virtues

Resides frightening figures of misdeeds,

the filth you desperately want to be obscured.

Scared to open the doors and windows

Afraid to let in a drop of light

Just takes out and display the gold coins

often mixed with many counterfeit ones

to all other mortal frames that dwell around

with similar dark chambers abound

laden with gold, gilt and filth galore.

The butcher eyes the goat that's well-bred

Cared, protected, guarded, well-fed

If lost, the forlorn goat bleats for his guard

Alarmed, the guardian prays for his prey

The goat's heart melts at the love of his master

Till the poignant very moment of his slaughter

Sacrificial lambs many, you exploited

Many others nurtured, butchered, devoured

Victims, teary-eyed, mutely departed

Butcher gets engrossed seeking the favoured

From deep within the dark chambers, unabating

bleats of innocent love, you keep hearing

The more you try to subdue or mute it

Louder it sounds, doleful, resonating.

This scene was taken in a very small village called Codicote which is between Welwyn and Hitchin in Hertfordshire. Just for this picture it was worth the visit. As it happens the owner got out of the car so I did ask permission to take a picture of his wonderful classic vehicle.

I have been off Flickr for a little while but will try and catch up a little later today. In the meantime here are a couple of uploads.

The term GOAT (Greatest of all time) seems to be an overused adjective. In the case of Joe Root his records defend this title. During the recent England Sri Lanka test match Joe scored a century in both innings thus taking his total to 34 international test centuries. That figure eclipsed the previous English record of 33 held by Sir Alastair Cook. With 12,375 test match runs to his name Joe is now a mere 95 runs behind Alastairs all time English run scoring record. In fact being aged 33 at the moment there is a great chance that he could pass the all time international test record of 15,921 held by the masterful Indian Sachin Tendulkar. It goes without saying that this likeable Yorkshireman is ranked the number 1 batsman in the world.

Add to these batting statistics the fact that he has now made 200 test match catches which puts him third in the all time international scene. The current all time record is held by Rahul Dravid who made 210 catches. It won't be long before that records falls his way.

Joe Root also bowls a little and to date has taken 69 test match wickets. That figure unbelievably puts him ranked as 69 in the all time English test bowling records.

In summary, there is a great chance Joe Root will become the highest test match run scorer in crickets 150 years of history, he will in my opinion take the record for the most catches by a non wicket keeper at some point over the winter and he will continue his steady climb up the bowling all time list.

The photo attached is one I have dragged out of the archive which shows Root in action at Headingley against Pakistan in 2018.

Another pub in Southampton to change its name recently, at least it hasn't been closed down like so many. Maybe why this name was chosen has something to do with the Chinese Year of the Goat.......

This was taken on Christmas Eve and we had just popped into the Coop to stock up on Christmas Day food and drink. Even in the village we had the pleasure of a brass band playing Christmas carols. You can see The Goat pub too - sadly never entered by our family!

after climbing the route "forsida" up The Goat, we had to wait for our turn to descend. There where many teams climbing the pinacle this day. Meanwhile, we enjoyed the view :)

This pub was formerly the White Horse Inn but refurbished and reopened as the Goat. It looked nice but we didn't try and go in cos of Harbie!! The village green stopped at the last bridge, Coop, a cafe and the pub and then carried on along the Borough, as you can see here!

One of the all time sporting greats has announced his retirement at the end of the 2021 MotoGP season.

A Champion in the 125cc class, champion in the 250cc class, the last champion in the 2-stroke era and also the first champion in the modern 4-stroke MotoGP era.

But more importantly a champion to many who have followed the Doctor, GOAT, VR46 and Vale a different name to many but always our Champion.

Thanks for the good times and the bad, best of luck Vale.

The newest addition to the farm. He is 'in training' to become a pack and hiking goat.

He hikes with us nearly every day and does yard work and chores with Charlie and I.

Here's the view back from where we've just walked, with the Coop on the right, plus a butcher's and a cafe. It's not a post office now but I can imagine the house on the left might have been one at some point.
