day 3

this wall is built between falls road (catholic neighbourhood) and shankill road (protestand neighbourhood). it's about 5 meters high.

there are dozens of these border barriers in northern ireland, that separate irish nationalist and unionist neighbourhoods. they have been built at urban interface areas in belfast, derry, portadown and other towns. the stated purpose of the walls is to minimise inter-communal violence between catholics, most of whom are nationalists who self-identify as irish, and protestants, most of whom are unionists who self-identify as british.

in a great exhibition of understatement, these walls are named "peace lines"

A chance photoshoot with my daughter as a model. The evening light gave a glow across the harvested fields. It was an unseasonably warm evening for early autumn.

The Hole in the Wall cascade in Port Alberni, Vancouver Island. The hole was originally dug into the rock to accommodate a water pipe. The pipe in now gone, leaving a small cascade flowing into a tranquil clear pool in the forest.

"Oh my god, Harold! They've got Colour TV's! Pull over! We are staying here tonight!"

"Umm, okay but it does say, family units. We're not quite a family uni..."

"I don't give a damn about your wife back in Nebraska! We've got you and me and that brat in the back seat. Why that bastard Conrad left him with me, I'll never know... doesn't matter. We're a family unit, as far as they're concerned. So just get this hunk of bolts in there... they got coloured tv... oh gosh.

I used one texture from Distressed Jewell... thanks Cheryl.

The dark autumn enchanting scary forest can be a frightening place for three little Shelties out all alone……Especially with Halloween witches ghosts and ghouls just around the corner……And it did not help the reading of ghost stories before bedtime last night….. So it will come as no surprise to you that rather than run a errand through the scary forest myself down to the local shop….I have decided to stay safe and sound in our cottage and send Halo Jazz and Misty to do the errand for me ……And by the looks of this photo…..It was a good job I did…..For as you can see……Something has spooked and attracted their attention deep down in the enchanting scary forest……But worry not dear reader……For apart from the fact that Halo the brave little Sheltie has the job in hand by letting off a fast volley of Sheltie barks to scare off any would be intruder in his protection of Jazz Misty……And…… As for the intruder…..I have to confess that It was me…..Laying in wake of them with my camera to get this photo…..Which as you can see…..Never got near to impressing Jazz and Misty one little bit….But hey…… Come on now……You never really thought that I would let you walk in this dark autumn enchanting scary forest all alone did you……No, I thought not

Tried to save myself but myself keeps slipping away

Talking to myself all the way to the station

Pictures in my head of the final destination all lined up

(All the one's that aren't allowed to stay)

Tried to save myself but myself keeps slipping away

Tried to save a place from the cuts and the scratches

Tried to overcome the complications and the catches

Nothing ever grows and the sun doesn't shine all day

Tried to save myself but myself keeps slipping away

Happens sometimes!

The Falls is a recently completed 20 story condo building in Downtown Victoria. I think it is pretty ugly personally. Out of all the designs they could have gone with, they chose something that doesn't really fit in with the rest of the city. I guess it is better than a street level parking lot though. WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE DESIGN?

The harvest is in, the sun lower on the horizon as winter approaches near Old Rayne Aberdeenshire, afternoon dog walk with Max.

This morning on the same walk I was in full waterproofs during a continuous downpour, by early afternoon the rain stopped and by mid - later afternoon the skies went blue and the sun poured in! How lovely after a rubbish start to the day.

Look you lot,Do you really have to call a world press conference on how I manage to get six Shelties to line up, near on perfect for a photo call……After all …..I think that the blue tack idea was a good one……And yes……I agree it’s not good for your fur ……But do you really have to tell everyone……Oh ….I see…..That is not the reason for your press conference……So what is it then……Is it that you have entered the American presidential race Halo……Not yet you say!!!…..So what is it then….Oh I see…...After all the worrying about Maysie-May…..You all wanted to show the many well wishers that she is looking and feeling good, and even managed to join us on our walk today…..And now you are going to let Maysie say a big thank you to all her well wishers (Thank you all….So many beautiful words prayers that helped so much)…..and that we too would like to endorse that with another big thank you from all of us at SheltieWorld to bring to a end our good news press conference……xxx……

Of all the historic villages I've visited, Elora, Ontario is among my favourites! With old world charm and plenty of historic buildings it looks good no matter the weather and this morning was not a pretty one but with a bit of work I managed to pull out the roll!
