So much to be grateful for. Happy Thanksgiving to my American Flickr friends.

Listening to the Pastels' "Thank You for Being You": youtu.be/1vHz3ZqfEko

I caught this swan in the early morning sun seemingly giving thanks for a wonderful morning. Life is always precious but when you get in your mid 70s each day becomes an occasion to express grateful joy.

At the end of the day, I am thankful that my blessings are bigger than my problems.

May your Thanksgiving meal be bountiful, shared with cherished friends, and filled with love.

for this world wide community of talented and inspiring artists. Thank you for sharing your creative vision!

I'm so thankful for what I have in my life

I'm also thankful for what I have had,

its all made me to whom I am today and where I am now

The ones I have in my life now is of outmost importance

It is quality in every person around me

For me that is very important, I don't want to use my energy on people I don't respect

These two guys are my daily companionship.

I love my everyday life

And I love the trips we have had throughout Norway since 2018

All the things we have seen

The hikes in all kinds of weather and all kinds of trails, up and down mountains

Sharing moments

Caring for eachother

Wow how lucky I have been!

I have taken my life back and living it to the fullest!

I'IM THANKFUL I'M STILL Here😀😀

What are you thankful for today? The pandemic helped us start a gratitude habit, and every night before bed, we discuss what we were grateful for each day.

Today and every day, don't forget that there is always something to be thankful for. Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

A Thanksgiving Day Prayer

Lord, so often times, as any other day

When we sit down to our meal and pray

We hurry along and make fast the blessing

Thanks, amen. Now please pass the dressing

We’re slaves to the olfactory overload

We must rush our prayer before the food gets cold

But Lord, I’d like to take a few minute more

To really give thanks to what I’m thankful for

For my family, my health, a nice soft bed

My friends, my freedom, a roof over my head

I’m thankful right now to be surrounded by those

Whose lives touch me more than they’ll ever possibly know

Thankful Lord, that You’ve blessed me beyond measure

Thankful that in my heart lives life’s greatest treasure

That You, dear Jesus, reside in that place

And I’m ever so grateful for Your unending grace

So please, heavenly Father, bless this food You’ve provided

And bless each and every person held dear to my heart , be they here with me or far apart .

Amen

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

This Turkey is thankful too for having escaped the Thanksgiving dinner table by flying across the river.

... for your views, faves, and thoughtful comments. And thankful for your beautiful, creative works that inspire me every day.

And I'm thankful for the Park Ranger, who when he found me setting up to take this shot (something I have always dreaded... having ANYONE see me do what I do!) , lectured me about trespassing and then gave me a phone number to call for a permit to do what I do "legally." And then asked if I was the one that had decorated for Halloween and said "That was awesome!" ... and said that he would allow me to stay and finish my shot and asked if I minded if he went in to see what I had done... and walked back out.... smiling. (whew... what a relief!! Dodged the trespassing fine again!)

Also, I am thankful to all the good things that my photography hobby has given me... the exploration of fantastic places, the friendship of awesome people ... and even a job. Picking up a camera is just about the best thing I have ever done for myself. Thanks to all of you that look at my pictures and comment, to those of you that reach out to share locations with me, message me, make me smile, and especially to those of you that are actually crazy enough to come out and shoot with me. Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving!

Christmas time is a time for reflection. I have looked back on my past year and have no regrets about my year of recovery from burnout. I have embraced my new life and cherished the new people who have blessed it over this past year—and those with whom I have been friends for longer than that.

I want to thank you all for your patience and understanding, your love and your kindness.

Special thank you to my friends from the Grove Art Club. You are an amazing group of people. Some of you are (in no paritcular order, I will add) Lori, Nia, Christian,Wren, Poppy, Esh, Hep,Dutch, Gray, Lally, Mo and many more. To my friends that have been there for me and our friendships have grown .. Thank you for being who you are... and you all KnOW who you are ♥♥

This sim,Memories of Christmas is stunning to look at. Worth a visit without a doubt.

Somedays we forget

To look around us

Somedays we can't see

The joy that surrounds us

So caught up inside ourselves

We take when we should give.

So for tonight we pray for

What we know can be.

And on this day we hope for

What we still can't see.

It's up to us to be the change

And even though we all can still do more

There's so much to be thankful for.

Look beyond ourselves

There's so much sorrow

It's way too late to say

I'll cry tomorrow

Each of us must find our truth

It's so long overdue

What's She Wearing:

Legacy, Magika, Tetra, Tres Beau, Veechi, Velour, Avaway, Lelutka, E.Marie, Izzie's & Graditude.

There are many things I'm thankful for this year. And you, Mr. Parker, are on top of the list

I was working late today, and thankfully Collin gave me plenty of motivation to wrap it up and get out of there when he let me know that this freshly-painted UP SD70ACe was headed my way, and already west of KC. This unit was released from North Little Rock on May 17th, so at this point, it was just six days from that point, and certainly on its first trip west.

This is at Willard, KS, about fifteen miles west of Topeka on the ex-RI "Topeka Sub," and the 8504 was leading the MASHN west along the Kansas River, along with the NS 9625, and CN 2718. Willard was once the site of "an eastward and a westward siding flanking the two main tracks. And, of course, a stock yard," as per Rock Island historian Patrick Lenahan, although you can clearly see that most all of that infrastructure is now gone.

For the railroad roster nerds out there, if "UP 8504" is tripping any alarms in your brain, it's because its predecessor was the 6,000 HP SD90MAC "Shamu" demonstrator, that was built as the no. 8204 before being renumbered to 8504. For clarification, this is a completely different unit than the 90MAC, but I knew that number rang a bell for a reason, and that's why!

I am always so worried when these tyrants get in and roll back environmental protections that affect entities that can't even vote. Anyway, this mushroom was found in Scotland actually in a private park I didn't actually realize was private because there was an open gate I entered through and it was quite large. After exploring for awhile, I realized I couldn't actually leave the park because all of the gates were now closed and locked from the inside and I ran into an older woman who had family visiting from Eastern Europe who agreed to let me out when I explained what happened. "I guess I can't have you hopping the wall" she said as I felt vaguely like I had been trapped in some kind of postmodern fairy tale.

These were oddly the only mushrooms or cluster of mushrooms I found in Scotland despite it being so cool and damp when I was there, which surprised me.

I've always found it very ironic that the one day in America designated for kindness and gratitude is also a day when the multitudes make a conscious choice to eat an animal when they don't have to.

It was my love of cats that made me decide to go vegetarian at 13 years old because I was taught to not discriminate against humans so why not apply the same to animals? How could I justify eating a pig, a turkey, a cow if I could never eat a cat or a dog? It made me question the way our society values some lives more than others and caused me to start thinking with a mind for social justice too. When systems say "It's ok to do this even when you feel this...." all you have to do is follow the money. Factory farming in this country in and of itself is a multi billion dollar industry that causes great harm to both animals and the environment. Why should we choose profit over the lives of animals as well as our own health?

There are so many stray cats in need of love and medical treatment. To me, it is like living in a city where you see people sleeping and begging on the street often. You feel like every dollar you give will never be enough. But, there's something to be said for when you are part of a vast world of great suffering and you help even one life.

This cat was found in a rescue orientated cat café and was actually provided with multiple medical treatments out of the pockets of the volunteers who worked there to keep it alive. One of the best cats I ever had, Buckley (named after Tim and Jeff), was a cat I adopted after a volunteer at the rescue agency paid over $2000 for a surgery, which I definitely would not have been able to afford at that time in my life. Buckley lived at least a decade in my arms and resembled this little guy. He would head butt me in bed and I'd lift up my blanket and he'd sleep and purr right beside me all night. When the time came for his life to end, I held him in my arms until his very last breath and I have no doubt he knew he was loved. All of this because someone said, "Yes, there is immeasurable suffering on this Earth but I can make a choice to make it less for this creature. "

Our choices matter.

Happy Thanksgiving

Thankful that this year is almost over! We had our Thanksgiving on Sunday night, so today was a free day for me. It turned out to be a gorgeous day and I spent it doing things that I love, instead of doing things that I should have been doing...and it was wonderful. Now it's time to grab a book, do a little reading and head to bed early to face a 5am Black Friday shift with my Kohls family! Happy Thanksgiving!

So thankful for my amazing family and friends and for having this incredible man by my side, all the time. The love he pours on me is like no other. ❤💕Shane

From our home to yours, wishing everyone a great Thanksgiving and start to your holiday season.

This Thanksgiving season, I'm thankful for a well run colorful regional railroad in my backyard as well as for friends that not only share information about the Wheeling but the 'good' people I've found just about everywhere in this hobby. Can't name you all but you know who you are. With the railroad business being what it is, someday this too will change and I don't take it for granted.

Here we see Wheeling train 663 alongside Tinkers Creek this past Fall as it takes scrap and empty stone back to Brittain Yard in Akron. 10/28/2024

Some of the most stunning images from the 611 at Strasburg came from the early morning hours. My feet at this point thankfully were numb, and like everyone, I was just in awe of the moment. When this frame was taken, we were up and in the field for like 20 hours or so. 1 year later, I still kind of am, and love going back through photos to find that perfect frame, with the perfect billow, headlight beaming through the night, steam wrapped around just right, to show the true power behind Norfolk and Western Steam Locomotion.

Very Thankful for this morning's Dawn image that reminds me to count my blessings, while sheltered-in-place in these difficult CoVid19 times.

I hope the rest of 2023 is better for me for shooting nightscape photos. I've only had three sessions so far, for which I'm thankful, but illness, weather, and personal and family commitments have kept me from spending nights doing what I love.

One of those three outings was in January at Narooma, on the south coast of my state of New South Wales, Australia. I was privileged to be led to this spot on the beach, at Glasshouse Rocks, by fellow nightscape shooter Ian Williams. We spent around four hours on the beach, shooting the Milky Way's core—while Barunguba's lighthouse shone its beam towards us every 15 seconds—until sunrise and beyond.

I know today's image is similar to those I've already posted from that night, so I'm hopeful for some clear nights when I revisit the locale next week.

I shot seventeen frames in succession for today's photo, then stacked the images in Starry Landscape Stacker after some processing in Adobe Lightroom. Each of those seventeen shots was captured with my Canon EOS 6D Mk II camera coupled with a Sigma 35mm f/1.4 Art lens @ f/1.8, using an exposure time of 13 seconds @ ISO 3200.

been kind of a shitty week. but still, lots to be thankful for
