♥ Happy Sunday my Flickr Friends ♥

♥ Always Thankful for your comments & pink stars ♥

A grey heron spotted this morning at our local Nature Reserve, looking for fish in one of the lakes. He spotted us too, so this shot was difficult to get as I had to squeeze through the surrounding vegetation, plus I had Marnie with me. Thankfully she's soft-footed and quiet, the perfect companion around wildlife. Not the best quality shot, I didn't have a long lens and this is heavily cropped. Nevertheless, I was thrilled to get it.

It is not happy people who are thankful;

It is thankful people who are happy.

This was one of those will it, wont it sunsets. There was a bank of cloud that wasn't supposed to be there according to the apps, but it cleared just in time for sunset thankfully.

Great to be out with my good friend Oli and met up with another local tog who was out for the first time after 6 weeks recovering from a hip replacement operation. It was safe to say that at 78 yrs old with a new hip he went nowhere near the slippy rocks but still got some great shots from angles I've never seen before.

The light was so intense that it really flooded these butterfly. The evening created a dreamy athmosphere in the background of this little beauty. I was so fascinated by this light that I could hardly keep my camera steady. To my astonishment, the butterfly did not notice anything of my excitement, and remained sitting on this stalk for minutes. I could have laughed at this moment of happiness when I saw this beauty before me. I spent countless hours at this little natural paradise to capture the beauty of it. That I would be so richly rewarded, I would not have dreamed. When the butterfly opened the wings and I was able to photograph him in the backlight, it seemed to me as if an angel would be in front of me, who would tell me: Look, I have created everything so beautifully. Take care of my creation, even to the small creatures. I accepted the gift thankfully.

When I am in this little natural paradise, I forget the time, I forget my fears, my worries. I only see the little beauties of creation. Then I think for myself that no human hand can create something unique and beautiful. He can change it, but not create it. Every little drop of water, which is produced by the night and begins to light up in the morning sun, is something unique.

So every human being is something unique, something special, something beautiful. Do we recognize these unique beauties we have? Are we thankful that we can be healthy and how these flowers and butterflies can appear in the world with our smile, with our love for people and nature?

There are so many questions that come to my mind when I am alone in the wild nature. And when I can look and enjoy these pearls of nature at home, I am so grateful that I can experience this as a healthy person.

I wish all of us that we are grateful for the small and big wonders around us. Grateful to people who help us, who support us when things do not go so well in life. Thankful for friends who love us unconditionally. Thankful for people who are there when you need them. I thank my dear friends for every kind word, for every gesture of friendship and sympathy.

Happy Thanksgiving my friends!

I've posted images of this wonderful place many times, but it seems to look different every time I go. This is Pitt Lake in Maple Ridge, another one of my favourite places to go and just take in the beauty of nature.

There is always so much to be thankful for, and I am thankful that I live in such a beautiful part of this world, and that in minutes I can be in the midst of nature.

Zoom in and take a look around if you like :)

This spunky little engineer was almost thankful when her arm had to be augmented - she no longer gets tired screwing nuts into place!

I was just thankful that upon closer inspection, the unattached appendage did not have an opposable thumb.

Caracaras are members of the falcon family but are mostly carrion eaters, more similar to a vulture, which, coincidentally, may be the previous owner of the lost limb based on appearance. Seen at Quintana Beach near Freeport, Texas.

It’s ages since I blogged anything by !gO! and I have to apologise to them profusely! They just kind of slipped off my radar which is a shame which I love their quirky rustic fantasy designs. This is an outfit that came out last month and it’s just adorable, especially when I pair it with the second of the new Truth hairs that can be got at Uber. I’ve shown it along with its optional cap, thankfully not adorned with any Tr*mp-like message!

A wise person once told me ...

' focus on what we have, rather than looking at what is missing'

... how beautiful our minds are, to be table to take a concept, embrace it with whole heartedness, and find that it changes our entire outlook in the process.

I am thankful for all the people in my life who bring me many blessings and learnings

I often find myself reframing my thoughts when facing a task, especially one as mundane as housework. Instead of filling the sink with warm sudsy water and thinking "I HAVE to do the dishes"...I change the thought to be "I am thankful I have dishes to wash." It works in all sorts of situations in life. Try it. You might be surprised that you are more thankful for your life than you knew!

My thanks to a former student who shared that thought with me. Teachers learn more from their students than perhaps the students learn from their teachers.

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving!

"I am in love with this world . . . I have climbed its mountains, roamed its forests, sailed its waters, crossed its deserts, felt the sting of its frosts, the oppression of its heats, the drench of its rains, the fury of its winds, and always have beauty and joy waited upon my goings and comings."

P.S I know the love runs deep because I pick up other people's toilet paper. Wish people were more respectful of this sacred land. Taken from my Yak ;-)

Happy Thanksgiving. I'm thankful for my Hawk. 😍

It is with great delight that I post this picture after thinking that I had lost everything due to a hard drive crash (photos are on a different drive so I knew the originals were safe). While I thought I had everything backed up, my back program wasn't working properly.

My brother worked his magic and after freezing the hard-drive, then keeping it on ice, after about 6 hours, we were able to copy the corrupted C-drive across to the new one, via a laptop, then a portable HD then back to my computer for almost complete recovery. Have had to reinstall everything, but so far so good.

There is a lesson in that for all of us!!

Thankful that I had the time this year to visit pretty West Virginia in the Fall, thankful Mrs. Krach let me get up early and let her sleep letting me explore the highlands, thankful I was able to get up an hour before sunrise to get to this spot ... and thankful to have this glorious light and view to take in.

Also very thankful for the Canon engineers that make these captures digitally even possible, thankful for those that keep the internet powered each day so we can share, and thankful for everyone else out there that does their part in making societies around the world possible. We are all in this together, and make the world around us a better place.

Happy Thanksgiving Day!

I spotted a Tufted titmouse eating a peanut right outside my window. I captured this photo just as it was bowing its head before it started to eat. This was taken in Northeastern PA.

Wishing my American Friends a Very Happy Thanksgiving!

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life.

It turns what we have into enough, and more.

It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity.

It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.

Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow.

~Melody Beattie~

On this Thanksgiving, we are feeling thankful to have family who are safe and healthy. Our daughter in PEI has power again and minimal damage to their home after hurricane Fiona hit them. The parks in PEI suffered greatly during that storm and camping there will not be the same for awhile. We are grateful that our country takes care of their parks so we can enjoy hikes like this one. I am also glad we are still able to do hikes and visits like this in our golden years. Take care of our earth everyone.

A stunning day in the northern fells and Stanier Class 5, No 44932 makes a stirring sight and sound on the final leg of the Long Drag. I thought we would get done by a big bank of cloud seen in the background hanging over Ingleborough. Thankfully it stayed lower than the sun. This was a stunning performance from the Class 5 trying to make up some lost time from the thirty minute late departure from Hellifield. Please note taken behind a fence pushing the camera through the gap.

'There is always something to be thankful for.'

On 01 June 2023, 159 210 of BSAS carried a tank car train to Munich Milbertshofen. At Unterweilbach outside the gates of the Bavarian capital, I awaited the service thankfully preannounced by the locomotive driver. The exterior design of 159 210 was done by Austrian designer Gudrun Geiblinger, the version with the bull on the side wall of the Euro Dual is generally considered to be the most attractive of the BSAS locomotives.

Thankfully the Tufted Duck's conservation status is classified as of least concern so perhaps its survival is reasonably secure. In fact when we visit reserves they are often the most numerous duck.

This particular male example was photographed on a breezy day down at St Aidans Nature Reserve.
