One of the nice things in London is to walk along the Thames. Every time you have to walk under a bridge, there is a tunnel, and that gives nice opportunities for photos like this. Don't know what bridge this tunnel was under.
We’d already been tipped off in the pre Photo 24 facebook chat that a group called the London Fire Spinners would be performing on the beach next to the Oxo Tower. This turned out to be a nice sandy beach located on the South Bank of the Thames. It’s only visible at low tide.
There must have been well over 100 people practicing in the hot afternoon sun with spinning sticks, balls on chains, jugglers’ batons and various paraphernalia. As twilight approached they’d lit their props and the beach was alive with fire.
I was busy taking this long exposure thames panorama when one of the spinners walked into the frame with a lit pair of orbs. Sometimes the luck is with you.

Thames Bus operated in the Surrey area between 2002 and 2003, operating many of its services under contract to Surrey County Council. Their work included lots of Sunday services and one-day-a-week services meaning they had a large network coverage despite having a relatively small fleet of vehicles.
The company was founded by Martijn Gilbert (aged only 19!) and it was sold to Centra in 2003 after their network was cut apart following Sunday service cuts by SCC.
Here, fictional Enviro200 MMC YX20ODZ is seen on route 437, following its old route through to Chertsey, wearing the Thames Bus livery. I've tried to make the vehicle look even smarter by adding alloy wheels with coloured hubs and front wheel trim. The wingmirrors are yellow to complement the livery and I've borrowed the interior from the Scotrail Enviro200MMC as was best fit with the colours!

A 2nd shot from my first outing with my new Tiffen ND3 10 stop.
I only captured 6 shots during this mini wander as this filter is pretty time consuming to use…i love the effect that it gives though so well worth the extra effort!!
The River Thames is the major England river, it's very famous because its lower reaches flow through central London.
Taken on 3 September 2018 and uploaded 15 January 2025.
A little 'port tender' according to Marine Traffic, last noted up river at Teddington...but it turns out it's got quite a glamourous life, therefore I should find out what's it all about.
The company, Livetts, has its own website and lists a lot of activities, like stunt filming and PR stuff, drone filming, diving services alongside the more conventional river activities, most of which they cover...
Alfie is listed variously as a tug, a film boat and a safety boat, his bosses have been involved in James Bond and Sonic movies and plenty else. I think this is the only time I saw Alfie, but I'm sure I have pics of other Livetts boats.
Returning to the routine, the cars in the background a probably Hyundais, brought in by those rather bigger than Alfie vehicle carriers.
