"I wonder if the snow loves the trees and fields, that it kisses them so gently? And then it covers them up snug, you know, with a white quilt; and perhaps it says "Go to sleep, darlings, till the summer comes again."

Milkweed gets its name from the milky sap contained in its leaves and stems. Although the chemicals in this sap can be poisonous to animals, milkweed is an important food source for the Monarch caterpillar. These butterflies lay their eggs on the milkweed leaves, and the larvae (caterpillars) feed on the leaves until they form their chrysalis. It is estimated that one milkweed pod has over 200 seeds. As a mere one-year old pup, one of the birthday presents I received was a kit for raising butterflies.
I raised six butterflies from June 24 through July 14, 2010.
Eagerly, I watched them grow everyday, from larva to butterflies. This little one we named Sparrow, and it was the first of the six butterflies to fly away.
Thank you very much, Kim Klassen, for the use of your beautiful texture, "Cream In My Coffee."
Thank you Flickr friends... it's very exciting to be on Flickr's FRONTPAGE today!
Wood textures on an old chest. I have a theme going on this week. Does anyone want to try and guess yet?
Thank you for your comments and to those who took a guess. Another clue will follow tomorrow.
Happy Texture Tuesday!
for 7DoS: I don't normally post a late shot, but I thought this would work for textures but didn't make it into the village to take it until today and I still haven't made it out with my camera! I'm beginning to think that might not happen this week ;)

Old '50s Studebaker emblem surrounded by a nice rusty patina. This car was for sale, but according to a passerby, the owner was willing to "ugh" part it out...
Happy textured Tuesday all!
for 7DoS: my annual resolution - thankfully, one I don't find too difficult. Here's some ideas to help www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2015/dec/28/new-year-new...
Some of the loganberry harvest from my garden.
Also for 7DOS texture (yes, this is the correct colour - loganberries are more purple than raspberries when ripe).
It is peony time so I decided to make the most of them :) I love those flowers.

I captured this weathered siding on an old building at the Landis Valley Farm Museum during their Harvest Days Festival.
The Landis Valley Village Farm Museum is a 100-acre living history museum in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. It collects, conserves, exhibits, and interprets Pennsylvania German material, culture, history and heritage from 1740 through 1940. The museum was founded by the Landis brothers--Henry K. Landis and George Landis.
Well worth the visit.
it's texture Tuesday...
i put together a little video tutorial for processing this image.....

I actually like the previous photo of salt crystals better than this one but it seems like plenty of people chose to do salt for the MM challenge so I decided to go with these dashi granules instead. Area shown is about 33mm wide.
Happy Macro Monday!

It's Texture Tuesday and Kim Klassen's theme today is Pretty In Pink. While borrowed from the archives, this new version of the photograph has an addition of two beautifully handmade textures by Kim Klassen, "Yesteryear" and "Aurora." She pours her love and care into making her free-to-use textures, so thank you very much Kim!
So, I think this new version of the photo compares much softer to the earlier one:

The sky in San Francisco is very dismal again today. Not so sure the sun will shine from the looks of the clouds. So, I wish the sun shines on everyone else, today.
Enjoy a lovely day.
