Hear the loud alarum bells

Brazen bells

What a tale of terror now

Their turbulency tells

Much too horrified to speak

Oh, they can only shriek

For all the ears to know

How the danger ebbs and flows

Leaping higher, higher, higher

With a desperate desire

In a clamorous appealing to the mercy of the fire

With the bells, bells, bells, bells, bells, bells, bells

With the clamor and the clanging of the bells

Paper: Elephant Hide A 4, coloured with Aquarelle pencils

Grid: 32 x 55 x 55 triangles

Model: Christiane Bettens

Book: Origami Tessellations by Eric Gjerde p. 70-72

Backlit.

The picture in Erics book is from a square and while I usually prefer hexagons I liked that one. Actually a church floor is rarely hexagonal, is it? Since A4 Elephant hide is relatively easy to buy in Germany (since I watch out, I found it in more than one place around) I saved my precutted EH-squares and folded a full A4-sheet.

The thickness of the EH made it a bit difficult to fold accurate triangle twists on the double pleats.

I chose that paper also because the colouring (which I've done before without a model in mind) gives it a marble like appearance which matches the church floor theme quite well. A blue-greyish tone would have been even more suitable.

The tessellation itself is easy to fold. A combination of the classic 3.6.3.6 tessellation and Eric's Double Pleat Hexagonal Tessellation.

Edit: Replaced photo by a better one.
