Design for Betty in Black Flower, to be felted and fused in glass and taken on my trip to Maison et Objet (Paris) in January

Shibori resist dye preparation is always exciting and the anticipaion to open it is so much fun to experience!

Pictured here is our installation at The Midwives Collective & Gallery show: REDefined.

We designed and handpainted the wallpaper panel (8ftx8ft) as well as the fabrics. The fabrics were first designed on paper, transferred to board and handpainted with gouache, scanned, then set into repeat and digitally printed onto a cotton/linen mix fabric. Then we upholstered a vintage chair and made pillows with these fabrics.

This is a better shot of the upholstered chair and complimentary pillow.

Old carpet samples and production waste get a second life with AW’s design contest. While sorting and recycling will always be important environmental measures in the carpet and floor covering industry, upcycling pushes the envelope that bit further. By upgrading waste into new, desirable products, AW takes an ecological stand while feeding its creative hunger. The contest challenges Belgian design, fashion and textile students to create a product, garment, furniture or accessory with carpet scraps. The finest design wins a cash prize. From March 29th to May 13th the winning designs from 2011 and 2012 are being exhibited at TIO3 in Ronse.

Traded to muddledmind.

Materials: Background (print of Japanese textile design); flower and fan stickers; geisha image from Dover.
