Modern interpretation of a toile pattern design referencing the 1957 film 'Funny Face' starring Audrey Hepburn. The film centres on a shy bookstore employee Jo (Audrey Hepburn) who has been scouted by a New York City-based fashion photographer Dick Avery (Fred Astaire) who he believes has the potential to become a successful model. He gets Jo to go with him to France, where he snaps more pictures of her against iconic Parisian backdrops. My toile design references the Parisian scenery and uses a mix of traditional painted media and digital elements to create my final design.

These head wraps are actually ver versatile and can be used as belts or hip huggers to jazz up an outfit!

Ilona and Guido are very talented tablet weavers and they are so friendly and help everyone who is in dire need of a good way to untangle a messy warp or find the failure in a difficult design pattern. They have many tips for beginners like me !

Idyllic Summer is a s/s 2020 bed linen collection for Linen House that takes reference from the Italian countryside, beaches, architecture and food and aims to portray the ‘perfect summer’ through a mixture of carefree, vibrant and sun dappled colour palette. Capturing the diverse Italian scenery, this collection was designed to fit within an eclectic and artistic bedroom space.

When designing the textile, think of it as your body of work and what message are you trying to send out to the world? Textile design is amazing because you can take pride in seeing your original artwork displayed on people all over the world!

So fun!
