This cloth appears to be part of a larger embroidered sampler. My guess if that it was made in central Mexico, possibly in Puebla state
I bought this woven belt last year but have no idea where it was made. It looks Latin American to me. If anyone does know where this was made, please let me know. Many thanks
A Christmas gift for one generous lady. Actually a magnet, but it was too dark in the kitchen to capture it hanging on fridge door.
Textiles is perhaps Guatemala's best-known and most popular artisanal activity; It is also one of the most important export products in the country. The most popular fabrics are produced by indigenous women, creating intricate designs with multiple colors; but in general, typical fabrics are produced by both, women and men, women use the traditional back-strap loom with wooden sticks, while men use a big pedal loom to produce them.

Hi Flickr friends! I haven't been doing photography while I've been having foot surgery and recovering, twice. It's going to be a long year. So I've been drawing on an iPad instead, and this is that. I hope you like them, they are saving my sanity.

These lovely textiles belong to the women who were preparing lunch at one of the food stalls near the monument to the Battle of Ayacucho in south-central Peru.
The women use them as backpacks: they load whatever they wish to carry in them then pull the ends over their shoulders and tie them together around their necks.
This is certainly an attractive alternative to rip-stop ballistic nylon or Chinese-made plastic carriers decorated with images such as Disney princesses.
Near Ayacucho, Peru.
