This version of a national textbook was revised and adopted by the California Board of Education for use in California schools. It's from 1922. Isn't the cover fantastic? Trucks, trains, ships, smokestacks!
First day back at school. No more bright and sunny pictures! All calculators and books and papers instead.
The American People and Language. An old ESL textbook for adults, I think. Beautiful Art Deco styling.
One of the things I always coveted from my college professors were the rows and rows of textbooks that just made them look so scholarly.... I'm a dork, I know. It's amazing, though, that once you have a faculty position, the publishing companies send you free textbooks! Doesn't get much better than free books. Here's a sampling of mine.
The cup of coffee stirrers -- I actually use those to mark small plants in my field plots. Red works best, if you can't find orange.

This is a photograph of a textbook which was purchased by a heritage student which was mandatory for her class. This textbook cost 200$. Many students cannot afford to buy a 200$ textbook for their courses. So many will opt out of purchasing it. This can seriously affect students’ learning and studies because they do not have access to the course material needed. This situation exists because teachers and school staff do not take into consideration student’s financial situation and instead make it mandatory to purchase expensive textbooks. This photograph can educate staff by clearly stating how unrealistic it is to expect students to purchase expensive textbooks for their courses. What we can do is make learning materials available to everyone so all students have an equal opportunity to succeed in their education.
