I developed my second concept: The superhero has conquered Cereal Mountain with nothing but a spoon! What a feat! :)
In terms of composition and readability, I think I was successful. But I had very different plans for the coloring. I'm really, really held back by the fact that I have little experience with Photoshop and Illustrator. I had intended to digitally paint this piece to add shadows and depth, but I couldn't figure out how to get rid of the background, let alone use any brushes (yes, even after a couple tutorials and endless attempts). So I was limited to live painting. It took away a lot of the detail I had in my penned drawing, but the blocky coloring adds to the comic-like aesthetic of the final design.
Project to rehabilitate 16 historic overlooks along Skyline Drive, Shenendoah National Park. Project on track to be completed with Recovery Act funds.
Old sign pointing the way to the former Columbia Theatre, which was located at 150 Main Street in Brookville, Pennsylvania. The theatre is no longer around. At the present time the front lobby is being used as a youth center and some theatre seats still remain.
They are trained at our expense. Then with dollar signs glimmering in their sights, they leave, depleting their homeland of nurses, doctors, teachers, skilled tradespeople. But they are our kids, Kiwi kids . . . so welcome home!
