Wetherspoon's, "The Crown Inn"

2008 Lookback to BAA Reunion 1962-1966 on Aug. 23, 2008. Donna Tucker Dobbs and her classmates of the Bristol Indiana High School Class of 1963 wanted to make their 45th Anniversary celebration special. So they planned a dinner/dance to be held at Eby’s Pines Banquet Hall on August 23, 2008. They invited classmates from 1962 through 1966 to bring significant and other friends to join them for an evening of 60s music, complete with Elvis. Many Pirate items and photos were were on display. Doris Lang and her staff from Eby’s Pines served dinner, beginning with a colorful salad bar, a tasty entree and then a commemorative BHS cake. Bristol History from 1965 “The Voyager.” In 1838 in a log cabin school house along the St. Joseph River, Miss Wheeler was the first teacher.

In 1880, the school was moved to a small building where all 12 grades were taught. This was later the Simplex Pump Building. The first graduating class was in 1885: Graduates were Chester Cone, Richard Lake, Ornie Sterner Silvers, Nellie Birch Paxton, Henry Milburn and August Weipert Shiffer. Built in 1903, the building which now houses the Museum was built. In 1917, electric lights were added. In 1923, an addition added indoor bathrooms. In 1925, the gym was added on. In 1940, the school bell, which had been in the hall of the building was moved to the school yard - where it still stands today. Just the Facts:

The original school was built in 1903 to consolidate and house eight one-room schoolhouses in a single building with additions added over the years. It has been known as the Washington Twp. School, Bristol School and Bristol High School. The last class graduated in 1966, and the school was closed & pupils went to Elkhart High School. The building was bought by Howard Rush & donated to the Elkhart Co. Parks Dept. It is now the Elkhart County Historical Museum.

아니요. no mommy.

너무 사랑했던 곳이라 너무너무 슬퍼요.

We got up early, availed ourselves of the hotel's free "breakfast" and climbed in the car for the 25 mile drive to Carlsbad Caverns.

Once there, instead of taking the elevator down into the caves, we hiked the Natural Entrance, a 1.25 mile descent to the Big Room.

I hadn't been to the caverns since 1977, so I wasn't sure exactly what to expect. I knew I had loved it as a kid, but wondered how I would respond as an adult. It turns out the caverns are magnificent no matter what.

And so are the old signs.

The old underground DIning Area wasn't operating the day we were there (I think it is more of a summer thing) but it is still a cool 70s modern looking oddity.

After a few hours in the caverns we climbed back in the car and headed for Albuquerque.

Wouldn't it just be a board or at best a sign board?

The Book Club of California’s 2016 summer exhibition, Fine Print: The Review for the Arts of the Book (1975-1990), focuses on the remarkable legacy of this San Francisco-based journal, which began as the vision of Sandy Kirshenbaum; grew and thrived with the efforts of a core editorial team that included Stephen Corey, rare book librarian, and two young printers, Linnea Gentry and George Ritchie, who were working for Andrew Hoyem at the time; and went on to achieve high standards of both content and form through the contributions of many talented collaborators from California and around the world. Throughout its fifteen year run, Fine Print not only provided a showcase for the best in fine press publishing, but attempted to integrate all of the book arts, including calligraphy, bookbinding, papermaking, wood engraving, and type design—the latter increasingly devoted to digitization and computer-generated types—while also offering important articles on the history of the book and creating a space for conversation among writers, scholars, and book artists from around the world. Fine Print’s many contributors included Martin Antonetti, Nicolas Barker, Charles Bigelow, Robert Bringhurst, John Dreyfus, Paul Hayden Duensing, Colin Franklin, EM Ginger, Steven Heller, Andrew Hoyem, Janet Ing, Paul Needham, Stan Nelson, Will Powers, Wesley Tanner, Benjamin Vorst, Hermann Zapf, and many others. As Robert D. Harlan has written, “The entire corpus [of Fine Print] will continue to be studied and admired by practitioners, students, and connoisseurs.”
