El rosetón (románico de transición al gótico/protogótico, siglo XIII) de la fachada occidental de la Iglesia de San Felipe de Brihuega, la villa capital de municipio, situado en la comarca natural de La Alcarria (subcomarca de Alcarria Alta), en la provincia de Guadalajara, Castilla-La Mancha, España.
Se considera que esta iglesia, dedicada a San Felipe Apóstol, fue construída entre 1209-1246 bajo el mecenazgo del Arzobispo de Toledo y el señor de Brihuega Rodrigo Ximénez de Rada, a pesar de no existir documentación escrita que confirme este hecho o aclare la historia anterior de este templo.
"...Según nos describe García López en su Catálogo Monumental de Guadalajara: "Ennoblece más esta elegante fachada un rosetón circular, abierto bajo el ángulo en que concluye el muro central. Consta de un círculo rodeado de seis medios círculos uno y otros con lóbulos, redientes y arquillos que forman una elegante tracería ojival.
Las líneas rectas dominantes forman el exalfa o sello de Salomón sin intención notoria de que resalte."

"...Conotado ao simbolismo do hexalfa, além deste exposto de forma clara, encontra-se nos templos cristãos o seu derivado hexafólio ou sexifólio, a estrela de seis raios e a rosácea ou roseta hexapétala, e apesar das suas numerosas variantes é normalmente interpretado como símbolo solar – o rosetão ou roseta do Sol, antigo símbolo mitraico herdado pelos cristãos para designarem Christus Sollis, o Cristo Solar ou Iluminado, e também a Rosa Mística da ladainha mariana, a Virgem Mãe de Deus, dependendo do sentido geral do simbolismo exposto a qual dos Dois se deve atribuir no caso particular esse símbolo."

LA LEYENDA SOBRE SAN FELIPE APÓSTOL Y EL DRAGÓN DE MARTE:
San Felipe aparece en quinto lugar en las listas de los apóstoles (Mt 10, 3; Mc. 3, 18; Lc 6, 14; Hch 1, 13). Era originario de Betsadia, y de profesión pescador. Junto con Andrés, son los únicos que tienen nombres griegos entre los apóstoles
San Felipe es llamado por el Señor al grupo de sus discípulos al día siguiente de haber llamado a Andrés, Juan y Pedro (Jn 1, 43-44). San Felipe es quien invita a Natanael a conocer al Señor (Jn 1, 45). Tiene otras intervenciones significativas en el Evangelio. El día la multiplicación de los panes el Señor, para probarlo, se dirige a él preguntándole dónde comprarían pan para tanta gente (Jn 6, 5-7). Es a San Felipe a quien se dirigen los extranjeros deseosos de conocer al Señor (Jn 12, 20-22) y es él el que le pide al Señor en la última cena que le "muestre al Padre" (Jn 14, 8-11)
San Felipe se dedicó a predicar en las regiones de Frigia, actualmente Turquía, y Escitia, actualmente Moldavia, Ucrania, Hungría y el este de Rusia. Fue martirizado y muerto en Hierápolis. Su martirio consistió en ser crucificado y apedreado. Posteriormente sus reliquias se trasladan a Roma...
El relato tradicional sobre San Felipe Apóstol y el Dragón de Marte se basa en el texto incluído en la Leyenda Dorada de Jacopo Vorágine, pero se narra en diferentes versiones:
«...Una leyenda cuenta que los paganos querían obligarlo a hacer un sacrificio a una estatua de Marte, pero un dragón, colocado bajo el pedestal, mata con su aliento al sacerdote que ordena el sacrificio y a dos soldados. Felipe, apiadado de ellos, pone en fuga al dragón y resucita a los tres muertos.»
«...Los paganos quisieron obligarle a adorar una imagen de Marte, pero el santo hizo que del pedestal saliera un dragón, que mató al hijo del pontífice y varios personajes más con su aliento. El santo sanó a los heridos y resucitó a los muertos, a petición de la muchedumbre que allí se había congregado, a cambio de que se rompiera la estatua para eregir una cruz en su lugar.»
«...En Escitia fue apresado y llevado delante de una estatua de Marte para obligarle a hacer sacrificios. Pero de debajo de la estatua salió un dragón que mató al instante a tres personas. San Felipe se ofreció a resucitarlos si derribaban la estatua, por lo que expulsó al dragón del lugar y resucitó a los muertos, consiguiendo así muchas conversiones.»
«...San Felipe Apóstol...desterró al desierto al dragón que devoró al hijo del pontífice y a dos tribunos que presenciaban como era sacrificado a Marte en la ciudad de Escytia...»

The "Terrific Air Raid" noted at the top of the page refers to a savage bombardment of Alicante during the Spanish Civil War. It was reported that six Insurgent planes dropped 100 high explosive bombs in 20 minutes and that most, if not all, of the victims were civilians. What strikes me is that the Catholic Church, which exercised such enormous influence over the Spanish people for centuries, was nonetheless powerless to prevent this bloody conflict. Of course, the Church, having earlier initiated such ventures as the Crusades and the Inquisition, was herself no stranger to violence in the name of God. My theory is that by the 1930s (and in reality, likely long before that) the Church had done irreparable damage to her credibility as a voice for peace.
ADDITIONAL NOTES: The Saint John Citizen was a short-lived newspaper of the late '30s. And that forthcoming marriage, noted at lower right, proved to be a pathetically brief one, as the groom was killed in a boating accident. Ms. MacDonald, I might add, was a considerably better-looking bride than this photo would suggest.

I can't remember a complete mural has endured so long. Fluctuat Nec Mergitur is the motto of Paris, translated "Il est battu par les flots, mais ne sombre pas": "She is tossed by the waves but does not sink". This motto is present in the city coat of arms depicting a ship floating on a rough sea. Both motto and city arms have their origins in the river Seine boatsman's corporation; this powerful hanse ruled the city's trade and commerce as early as the Roman era.
Following the November 2015 Paris attacks, the Latin-language motto had a surge in popularity and was used in social media as a symbol of Paris resistance in the face of terrorism.
No street artist dares to paint over it. But also this mural will disappear one day. But space invader PA_100 is still there.

Antiguamente en marzo, cuando llegaba S. José, el día de la familia, era costumbre que los niños (niña, en este caso) que tenían la suerte de saber leer y escribir regalasen a sus padres una poesía. Las escuelas y colegios ponían especial empeño en que la caligrafía quedara primorosa y, para ello, los alumnos copiaban repetidas veces el mismo texto en papel vulgar para, una vez alcanzado un suficiente grado de destreza, pasar a la plantilla definitiva, que solía ser una de delicadeza increíble. El esfuerzo merecía la pena.
La presente muestra es de mediados del S. XIX, aproximadamente entre 1860-62... La plumilla (o plumín) y el palillero (o portaplumas) son de principios del S. XX.
Nei pressi della Sacca di Scardovari una nuvola di Pivieri dorati (Pluvialis apricaria) ci sorvola. Ovviamente in quel momento stavo sostituendo il moltiplicatore e lo scatto è un po distante eseguito con il 300 puro.
Near the Sacca di Scardovari a cloud of golden plover (Pluvialis apricaria) flew over us. Of course at that time I was replacing the multiplier and the shot is a bit far with the pure 300mm.

-INFORMATION
-This contest will be open for anyone on Flickr, Facebook, or Youtube to join!
-This competition is not just a Modeling competition. Its about style, poise, and fashion, mixed together with pristine photo skills, professional editing, and quality modeling.
-This competition is not for the faint-hearted, poor-editing, or non-talented.
-If you're going to succeed in this competition, you need to be on the top of your game every week. There can't be a week where you don't feel good. Gotta be fierce! :) (Hence the name of the competition).
-PRIZES
There will be two final winners at the end of the competition (2nd and 1st place)!
The prizes are:
Second place: Custom photo, Guest judge on next BNTM, and an undecided prize!
First place: Same as above + the pride of winning first + another undecided prize!
-RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. Only 1 doll can be used throughout the entire competition, unless otherwise noted.
2. There will be an audition "round" which will determine who gets into the competition.
3. There will be a total of 15 applicants accepted into the competition after this audition round.
4. All photos entered in the competition have to be linked and given to the host (me) in a personal message on Flickr, Facebook, or Youtube, OR you can post any photos on the weekly photo (in the comments section).
5. Each week, there will be a theme given, and the photos are expected to be turned in exactly 5 days after that theme is given. Also, each week there will one person eliminated.
6. If you forget to turn in your photo on the due date, you will be given a free "omit" pass, which allows you to turn in the photo a total of 2 days later without punishment. After the first "omit", there will be no exceptions, and you will be eliminated.
7. You can use whatever doll you like, however it needs to be a regular sized Bratz doll only. No Barbie, Monster High, or Pulips allowed.
-ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
-The competition will be held here on Flickr. Every week I will put out the next week's theme photo, which will also show the judging, challenge winner, and eliminated model in the comments section.
-Editing software is allowed, however please remember to not go over board with your editing. It may be cool to show off your new PhotoShop features, but overdoing it won't make the photo look good.
-No logos are to be allowed from other editing sites (PiZap, etc). If there is a logo on your photo, please remove it or you will be eliminated.
-Sticking to your original doll is mandatory. However you are allowed to switch "bodies" to accommodate for joints, scratches, etc. The head must always stay the same, though.
-I will tag all users in the weekly photo to aware you that the next theme is out. I will also send out a Flickr message.
-If you have any additional questions, or you need to discuss a private matter with me, throughout any time in the competition, you can personal message me on Flickr or any of the other sites listed above. I will reply back as soon as possible! :)
