The only thing visible above water at the EMEC tidal test site - these are the pilings for one specific turbine. We were told three others are also being tested on site, but all evidence of them was hidden below the water...
The splashing of this common garter snake caught my attention as is swam searching for food and testing the water with its tongue. I was rather fascinated by it as it dove underwater and sometimes under the silt. Occasionally it would pop up with a big tadpole. He was hard to photograph because he was very fast slipping quickly behind grass, under water and the sun glared on its wet skin.

Almost 17 years ago I had a major seizure and developed epilepsy. Thereafter, I had to undergo medical testing, 24/7 for a full five days & nights - 19 to 23 December - the week leading up to Xmas. I was living, sleeping, eating, dressing, undressing, bathing and traveling (by NHS taxi) to hospital and back - EVERY DAY - looking like this!!
Can you imagine it?!
That big belt and waist pack containing a recording machine with cassette and two big batteries, plus all the electrical leads and wiring (wrapped in bandage) weighed around two kilos!
It took me five years to summon up the courage to upload this pic, 12 years ago.. Pretty soon I had to make it private because of some extremely cruel comments coming in -- which I had to delete.
So, why am I now/again going public with this pic? Seeking some sympathy perhaps? No, most definitely not.
It's because lately I have become so sick & tired of some people constantly complaining, moaning & groaning, whinging & whining, hollering & howling, etc, etc -- about so many totally trivial things - and I DO mean trivial.
For God's sake, get a life people (you know who you are ) before I really begin boring you - about almost dying on a hospital corridor floor just nine months ago - and/or about being given only 72 hours to live - 20 years ago.
I repeat, shut up and Get A Life!!!
