On 9th July 37175 leads with 3q14 15:17 Westbury Dn TC - Weymouth - Westbury Dn TC, departing Westbury 128mins late at 17:25, due to major track circuit failure at Dorchester Jc, which affected GWR/SWR services till the end of the day. Pictured at Strap Lane, Upton Noble.

Consist 96604, 6122, 9808, 62287, 9714 (inc. ex Motorail and Caledonian sleeper coaches). Test train departed Westbury later for London Waterloo.

Me testing lighting for a job. Sometimes there's no assistant, no Joe Bloggs I can borrow, so I make do with remotes and myself.

37421 (37025 on the rear) leads the monthly track testing train away from Littlehampton. Running as 1Q52 from Eastleigh Arlington back to Eastleigh Arlington the train's schedule includes Portsmouth Harbour, Totton and a trip up the Portsmouth direct line to Guildford.

I know everyone's got one already but I wanted to test out the 85mm f/1.8 prime lens again. The f/1.4 is "better, " I'm sure, but not four times better ($).

37254 (37175 on the rear) leads the Network Rail test train, 1Q52 1037 Eastleigh Arlington to Eastleigh Arlington via many former Southern region routes, and is seen here after passing over Shalford Junction heading towards Portsmouth. The Guildford to Redhill line curves away in the background beneath the escarpment of the North Downs.

Lyla bounces and dances on the pullout couch. What a great visit.

Stored for many years, she's currently coming back to 'life' with the AALO at Stennis, Mississippi where engine runs have already taken place.

The ultimate high!

Empire Test Pilot School's BAC (English Electric) Lightning T.5 XS422.

 

Taken during a low and 'dirty' flypast and in less than ideal conditions at the 'Families Day' held at the A&AEE Boscombe Down in Wiltshire on the 21st September 1985.

The main runway was under re-construction back then so they were using their shorter cross-runway. Luckily the cross-wind component was within limits and of course - she was in the capable hands of one of the Empire Test Pilots School's top instructors!

 

'Tester' is the radio call-sign of all ETPS aircraft

 

This machine is now under re-build 'to fly' at Stennis Airport, Mississippi, USA

The IAT events would always attract a good selection of MoD (PE) aircraft, that is to say those used for trials and one-off purposes.

 

In 1979, the Royal Aircraft Establishment showed us this Canberra B2 WK163, which later appeared in 'Raspberry Ripple' livery but is now painted in early Bomber Command livery in the hands of the Classic Air Force at Coventry.

I ended up making 25 single girl blocks. Five were for the back but I decided I wanted the back to be all voile. I stitched these up as a tester before I start handquilting my king size. Willow has been dragging this around since the moment it came out of the dryer
