Premier John Horgan toured the Clean Energy Testbeds Site at the University of Washington as part of a two-day visit to Washington State.
XV Patrick Blackett (X01) is an experimental ship used by the Royal Navy as a testbed for new technologies, including unmanned underwater vehicles and unmanned surface vehicles.
Her namesake is Patrick Blackett, a Royal Navy veteran and Nobel Prize-winning British physicist.

The project was discontinued in 1989.

The BAE Systems’ owned Jetstream (G-BWWW), known as ‘The Flying Testbed’, is an aerial laboratory. It's a unique aircraft which has been developed to be flown by pilots or as an Uninhabited Air Vehicle (UAV). Racks of computers and control systems in the rear of the aircraft, together with satellite communications, mean it can fly as if it were a UAV without any input from the pilots. During 2013, it will trial a range of new technologies to be developed under the ASTRAEA programme, including what is believed to be the world’s first autonomous weather avoidance system, ‘sense and avoid’ technologies as well as an autonomous emergency landing system.

Four Yakovlev Yak-36 were built, and served as prototype testbeds for the Yak-38 VTOL fighter. This example, the second built, is the sole survivor.
