At the very end of the dunes stands the old watchman who do feels the tension and the unrest while he looks the surrounding at ease.
At his feet the tide is rising and the sea lips and murmurs slowly through the sand.
In the distance he hears the growling waves appoaching..........

Inland the wind picked up and it was as if the heaven leaden sky would compress everything in its way.
The reed bent so far as if it were trying to break free from the earth to flee.
The last rays of the sun would soon give way to a macabre darkness........

Meanwhile dark clouds chase the sky and every now and then the moon gets a change to break trough.
The high tide line then becomes visible for a short moment and in the distance wild crests are silhouetted against the darkness.
I must get away from this creepy place because if I wait any longer, I will be surrounded by the raging surf.
The spectacle of the sea being whipped by its ally the wind takes on a monstrous appereance.

In your loud Egoland
You have become
Tool of a tool
Digital ghouls
Telling you to
Shut up and dance
Color a yarn and the crowds will gather
Noise
From the sunless world
Your mirror is black, only a copy stares back
At a slave of brave new world
Noise
To decoy the human voice
Brain insomniac, paranoiac
Endless noise
Please love me
See how I bleed
Please endure
I have such empathy in me
Hum, noise, hum
Beautifully numb
Tapping the quiet air

They called him 18 not because
of a sports player but because
When he first learned to count
He didn’t stop at 10 but went straight to 18
He could name 18 out of 88 constellations by heart
and he had waited until 18
Before he found the human he wanted to
Experience intimacy with.
He had 18 ways of dancing to a beat and
18 different beats to drum up.
He had 18 different cousins
in 18 different cities
And always took 18 deep breaths
when he accidentally pinched his pinky finger.
It took him 18 minutes to travel to Montmartre on scooter
and 18 seconds to recite the names of all his cats.
18 doesn’t believe in chronological time, though.
He doesn’t even really believe in
Difficult letters or arbitrary numbers.
Heck, even gender is a concept
Reality is an illusion
Told by an insidious Eleven and a
terrifying Twelve
Still, scooting across Paris the moment hits
an epiphany arrives
I am 18. I am not 17 or 19.
Definitely not 4!

The Silhouette in the Mirror
The silhouette in the mirror,
As dark as night can be.
Not a single thing can be heard,
Nor a single thing seen.
Terrified of the vast unknown
Running 'round in circles
Without any corners to cut,
Just speed bumps to hurdle.
The silhouette in the mirror,
Lost where nothing is found.
Searching, trying to find a light,
But hope is still around.
Searching, trying to find the light
That fills the silhouette,
And hope whispers in the distance,
"I'm here, stay diligent."
The silhouette in the mirror,
Just hoping to be found.
Still positive, yet vigilant,
A dim light shines abound.
As the light is being approached
Hope is starting to shine.
The silhouette's getting closer
To reaching hope in time.
The silhouette's now filled with hope,
And a bright road's ahead
To find what is yet to be found,
The light hope's whisper said.
Holding a light to the mirror
The silhouette can see
All he was ever searching for
Was who he's meant to be.
"With terrified caresses,
with thirsty caresses
of my mind the darkness
I'm getting dressed tonight.
White cloth I raise
and I go where it takes me
what scatters me,
I surrender to you.
You are my fire and air
on the border of this day.
Give me your flame
and become my light,
golden fleece.
You are my fire and air
on the border of this day.
Give me your laugh
and become the end of the world.
Lonely with strangers
and with friends alone,
to know what saves you
in pain in joy.
Glass that does not crack
I would find it to order you.
Tell me how to fly
with borrowed wings.
You are my fire and air
on the border of this day.
Give me your flame
and become my light,
golden fleece.
You are my fire and air
on the border of this day.
Give me your laugh
and become the end of the world.
Door to my prison
you, and key.
I'm a too small ornament
in your white neck.
I will sing a song.
get up to dance it.
Steal my eyes forever
before I get lost."
Sethi is terrified by few things but fireworks are very high up on his list of phobias. As we know that he had to stay at home on New Year's Eve and during the night he hid somewhere in the basement when the fireworks started. The next morning he was allowed to go out again .... and disappeared for 24 hours. In the meantime he is back to his normal schedule but still a bit hypersensitive when it comes to loud noises.
My mysterious forest
All dark
Even the moss is stretching to see
Are there any dangers out there
All terrified
Goosebumps they used to call the feeling
Now it's called Mossbumps
You didn't know that I guess
So many strangers out there
Lurking around the corners of the trunks
You can hear their feet when they crunch a stick
Good grief
Mossbumps all over the body, or was it the trunk
They do normally come in peace
Normally
But not today
Oh my
I really need my coffee
Job 3:5 “Let darkness and the shadow of death claim it for their own; Let a cloud dwell upon it; Let all that maketh black the day terrify it.”
This is my 'Firefighter' hybrid tea-rose.
Growing in my garden here in Sydney, but dedicated to LA.
'Firefighter' is one of the most fragrant hybrid tea-roses in the world. Easily the equal of 'Mr Lincoln' and 'Papa Meilland'.
But this one today is special. it is dedicated to everyone in LA who is suffering through the worst wildfires ever.
My 'Firefighter' rose is also for the people who have lost their lives, as well as the courageous firefighters that are - as I type this - risking their lives to save LA.
I lived in LA for over four years on Montana Avenue at Santa Monica. And that is a mere block or so from one of the evacuation zones. This must be absolutely terrifying for everyone there today: January 13th, 2025.

Despite being absolutely terrifying, whip scorpions are actually quite harmless. They have no venom would rather make a speedy getaway then try to win a match against a much scarier human. They still win the metal for spookiest looking bug though

A Shikra (Accipiter badius) was intensely watching underneath movements of probable victim for the taking with merciless eyes. Its cold look was enough to stop the heart bit of any prey! I was greatly impressed by the tough personality of the raptor and luckily got the perfect angle with good light to frame it. Pics was taken from Bharatpur, Rajasthan, India.
SYDNEY, NSW AUSTRALIA
Sydney and the rest of New South Wales has been battered by severe thunderstorms eight days in a row, & finally they look like ebating from today.
On this particular night, the thunder was growling & the clouds lingered for hours before the storm roared with all it's might through the harbour.
The harbour echoed loudly like a chamber as mother nature barrelled in from north, south, and west. It was quite spectacular, and despite getting saturated, it was not for the faint hearted. It was terrifying, but I thrive being in the thick of it.
Sydney & in particular the east coast of Australia can look forward to another 3-4 months of these unpredicatble weather conditions.
Bring it on !!!!!

An ancient story says that this figure, who reprsents the Rio de la Plata river in South America, is terrified at the prospect of the facade of the nearby Church of Sant'Agnese in Agone collapsing on him and the fountain. The story arose from the rivalry between Bernini, who sculpted the fountain, and Borromini, a favorite of Pope Innocent X who had received commissions to build both the church and the fountain.

At terrifying speed, Reading & Northern's manifest freight NRFF (North Reading Yard to Pittston, PA and return) blasts through New Ringgold, Pennsylvania on July 12, 2020.
"Then she was terrified, and wanted to fling off the red shoes, but they clung fast; and she pulled down her stockings, but the shoes seemed to have grown to her feet. And she danced, and must dance, over fields and meadows, in rain and sunshine, by night and day; but at night it was the most fearful.
She danced over the churchyard, but the dead did not dance--they had something better to do than to dance. She wished to seat herself on a poor man's grave, where the bitter tansy grew; but for her there was neither peace nor rest; and when she danced towards the open church door, she saw an angel standing there. He wore long, white garments; he had wings which reached from his shoulders to the earth; his countenance was severe and grave; and in his hand he held a sword, broad and glittering.
"Dance shalt thou!" said he. "Dance in thy red shoes till thou art pale and cold! Till thy skin shrivels up and thou art a skeleton! Dance shalt thou from door to door, and where proud, vain children dwell, thou shalt knock, that they may hear thee and tremble! Dance shalt thou--!"
"Mercy!" cried Karen. But she did not hear the angel's reply, for the shoes carried her through the gate into the fields, across roads and bridges, and she must keep ever dancing."

Oh & TY Lucas for the pose :))
A horrific collision of extended drought, low humidity, high winds, and an unknown ignition source led to this maelstrom of fire and smoke on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Named the Calwood fire for the geographic location nearest its ignition point, this conflagration burned rapidly through over 7500 acres (3000 ha, 12 square miles) in around 3 hours, ending its terrible trip for the day with the destruction of 26 homes near the base of the mountains. Thankfully no one was injured or killed, though when I took this picture I was convinced it had gone through one of the mountain towns (Jamestown) without much warning, and feared far more damage had been done. Fortunately the fire had gone north of Jamestown through mostly uninhabited areas. The march across the landscape featured pillars of fire as stands of pines exploded, multiple fire vortexes and spiraling smoke clouds, generation of pyrocumulus clouds, and a fascinating diversity of smoke cloud shapes and colors. For scale the core of the fire is 7 miles (11 km) away from where this photo was taken.
Yes indeed, it is likely one could attribute this fire to climate change associated with the long drought we’ve had, yet fire is a major part of this landscape, and droughts occur in La Niña years such as the one we are experiencing. Fires can occur in the fall, but they require an idiot to start them as lightning is usually absent at this time of year. A much larger fire to the north (Cameron Peak fire) has been burning since August, and has now consumed 206,000 acres (83,000 ha, 322 sq miles). A smaller fire (Lefthand Canyon fire) that started the day after the Calwood fire has consumed 460 acres and threatens the Mountain Research Station where I have worked for the past 31 years. All of these fires are negatively impacting the health of people downwind who breath the smoke and fine particulates from the fires. Of course parts of California are experiencing even greater impacts from larger, more frightening fires that have been going on much of the late summer and early fall as well.
Poor little Lady bird stayed completely still as the Hornets munched on the pear , it was fascinating watching them interact with each other x
A Moniter Lizard, taken at Taronga Park Zoo. They are truly beautiful animals, but it would be terrifying to meet one in the wild.
It terrifies you, doesn't it? It scares you to love someone like that. Someone who is so much of a storm. There are moments she will be quiet, they are rare, but most of the time she will be fire. You have to expect that she will fight you and love you at the same time. It'll feel like loving the hurricane. -unknown
CSXT V831 rolls north through the hills of Rockcastle County, Kentucky. Very few experiences are as peaceful and terrifying as sitting on a cliff in eastern Kentucky while listening to a cacophony of nearby gunshots and a train rolling through the valley.
