September 12, 2009. Heading out to see a movie we spotted this mouse on the neighbour's lawn, surrounded by three cats from the area. As I leaned in to take the photo I could see the mouse, petrified, trembling with fear. The neighbour son captured the mouse in his sweatshirt and I transferred the mouse to a safe nook between the cement blocks in our front steps. Mice are mice and cats are cats, and the next time this mouse encounters a cat it will probably meet its end. But not on this day. Not this time.

Here we have 4 scary encounters on the road These stories range from Bodies On The Road and Get In The Van! so sit back and relax and listen to Scary Encounters On The Road.

The final batch of shots from our lovely little escape to Southwold in January

This hung at the top of the stairs to my parents' room/loft when I was a kid. I was an insomniac when I was little, so there were a lot of nights when I couldn't fall asleep but I was too damn terrified to go up the stairs & face this horrifying picture to ask my mom for a glass of water. In other words, I don't think the monk here was helping matters.

My mom mailed this picture to me for my 25th birthday...I hung it in my living room, so when I'd have overnight guests, they could get a little taste of what haunted my childhood dreams. ;+)

Torre de Collserola, personally not one of my favourite structures but it does feel pretty tall up close. Towering almost 300 m it offers the highest viewpoint of Barcelona from the pod's 10th floor.

Stood on the glass floor at the top of the CN Tower.

Some people are good with heights. I am not one of those people. I was actually out on that rock, which overhangs the Grand Canyon. Plus, there was ice. I got all dizzy out there and had to sit down. Theresa had no problem out there.

This is the utterly terrifying bridge of the Corrieshalloch Gorge, just south of Ullapool. If - like me - you're utterly terrified of heights, this probably isn't a place for you. The suspension bridge in this photo is about 200 feet above the ground - and it's very little, and it sways, and there's a sign on it saying "no more than six people on the bridge at once", all of which did nothing to alleviate my terror. B choosing to rock it while I was standing on it was also not terribly helpful! *shudder*

In other news, I've just recovered 1.4TB of data after a disk drive in my server failed, including my entire photo library. The moral of this story is please, please take backup seriously. It's taken me a few days to sort it all out, but other than time, I've lost absolutely nothing (*touches wood*), and my own backup strategy has worked perfectly.

In other, other news, the Arseblog (PNSFW) book goes on general sale today, to which I'm delighted to say I'm a contributor. I suspect it'll sell out very quickly, but if you have an Arsenal fan in your life, it'd make a perfect Christmas gift!

A terrifying prospect.

The funicular for Freccia nel Cielo/Cima Tofane

she said she didn't get scared easily. looks a little scary to me.

Anytime people take an intrest in me, I get scared. it's like I'm expecting pitchforks or something.

Notice Dan (feet) is still holding his beer above the water.

i must have been high for a second and someone took a picture of it

there were many lizards living in this little lizard city

jessica: what are you doing?

pamie: i'm over here so I don't have to be near that doll that looks like me.

jessica: What doll? OH MY GOD, THAT DOLL LOOKS JUST LIKE YOU!

pamie: I know.

jessica: Oh, man. Oh, that's weird. Oh, creepy! Man!

pamie: you can stop now.

jessica: Did you take a picture of it?

pamie: Yes. I need to be able to identify the body of the doll that stole my soul.

Coco, it is only a tradesman!
