Passing through the residential district of Northwich, Freightliner Shed 66616 has a sizeable load in tow with its 2,400t train of limestone aggregate quarried in Derbyshire. The working is the 9.56am from Tunstead which is headed for Garston on Merseyside (6F70).

The terraces on the left stand on Greenall Road, once a prime spot for watching the trains go by but now partly obscured by vegetation. The houses on the right stand on Alan Street and in fact it's the back of them you can see, hence the occasional garden shed! Hidden by the bushes is the single track east curve of the triangle carrying the line to Middlewich and Sandbach - still regularly used by freight as well as a diversionary route for passenger traffic when the West Coast Mainline is closed between Crewe and Hartford.

I took this shot with a pano in mind, so centred the train in the middle of the frame (vertically) to get the best lens performance. The occasional white streaks here and there are rain-drops.

Yuanyang Rice Terraces.Yuanyang County (simplified Chinese: 元阳县; traditional Chinese: 元陽縣; pinyin: Yuányáng Xiàn; Hani: Yeiqyaq) is located in Honghe Prefecture in southeastern Yunnan province, China, along the Red River. It is well known for its spectacular rice-paddy terracing. Part of the area now forms the 45th World Heritage Site in China.(Wikipedia)

Little Gord finds himself a terrace near the top away from the herd enjoying his favorite grass dish. I'm sure they all started together but by the time I arrived each mountain goat took separate routes among the rocks so I had the choice of about 7-8 backdrops for my shots. This little guy who I believe is Gord's grandson always strikes me as worth the extra effort for good shots. He's very cute. I did get plenty of hind shots of the rest of herd however as consolation prizes.

Seattle, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA 2024

Yesler Terrace is a historic and transforming neighborhood in Seattle, known as the site of the nation's first racially integrated public housing project, built in the early 1940s. Located on a hill just east of downtown, the area was originally conceived to replace substandard housing and provide a community with great views and proximity to jobs and transit. Today, the Seattle Housing Authority is in the process of a major revitalization, replacing the original low-rise rowhouses with a mixed-income, mixed-use community. The redevelopment aims to create a dynamic neighborhood with more affordable housing units, new parks, and improved connections to the city, all while honoring its rich history and cultural diversity.

Another "what's Vietnam without" in this case, the iconic rice terraces. Unfortunately it wasn't harvest time for the rice, as they depending on the region, they were just starting to plant the rice.

This was taken in the valley beside the Topas Eco Lodge, 17km from SaPa. We hiked around the entire valley for some breathtaking views and visited some local minorities homes. More on that later. You can actually see some of the people on our hike. The two guys in blue were our porters, carrying our water and food.

Terrace Walk, a typical Georgian parade of shops in Bath, Somerset, originally dating to around 1730 but amended around the beginning of the 19th Century. These may have been among the four houses on Terrace Walk begun by John Wood the Elder.

Above the scene rises the tower of Bath Abbey. Founded in the 7th Century, it was rebuilt most recently in the 16th Century, and work had only just begun when the Reformation began to convulse Europe, which makes it an unusual example of church dating in significant part to the first century of the English Reformation. It is one of the largest examples of Perpendicular Gothic architecture in the South West of England.

Bath is the largest city in the ceremonial county of Somerset. With a history going back to Roman times, when it first became a centre for bathing, much of its famed architecture dates from the Georgian era, when it became a fashionable place for wealthy Londoners to take the waters, connected by the ever faster stagecoach network.

Many of the streets and squares were laid out by John Wood, the Elder. Jane Austen lived in Bath in the early 19th century. Further building was undertaken in the 19th century and following the Baedecker Blitz in 1942.

Bethesda Terrace and Fountain

Bethesda Terrace and Bethesda Fountain with its Angel of the Waters statue

Bethesda Terrace and Fountain are two architectural features overlooking The Lake in New York City's Central Park. The fountain, with its Angel of the Waters statue, is located in the center of the terrace.

Bethesda Terrace two levels are united by two grand staircases and a lesser one that passes under Terrace Drive. They provide passage southward to the Central Park Mall and Naumburg Bandshell at the center of the park. The upper terrace flanks the 72nd Street Cross Drive and the lower terrace provides a podium for viewing the Lake. The mustard-olive colored carved stone is New Brunswick sandstone, with a harder stone for cappings, with granite steps and landings, and herringbone pattern paving of Roman brick laid on edge.
