This Rice Paddies carved on the mountain slopes are popular in the Mountain province and the Cordilleras. Many of which are hundreds, if not thousands of years old. The most popular being the Banaue Rice Terraces.
We were told by our guide that many of these paddies are no longer cared for as many locals especially the young choose to work in the cities.

Taken on my trip to Camden for the London Borough Challenge.
The first major international exhibition of contemporary art in Dublin since 1988.
The title and theme of Dublin Contemporary 2011 is Terrible Beauty—Art, Crisis, Change & The Office of Non-Compliance. Taken from William Butler Yeats’ famous poem “Easter, 1916”, the exhibition’s title borrows from the Irish writer’s seminal response to turn-of-the-century political events to site art’s underused potential for commenting symbolically on the world’s societal, cultural and economic triumphs and ills. The second part of the exhibition’s title underscores Dublin Contemporary 2011’s emphasis on art that captures the spirit of the present time, while introducing the exhibition’s chief organizational engine: The Office of Non-Compliance.
I had the opportunity to visit the Exhibition at Earlsfort Terrace and I should mention that the organizers kindly provided a press pass.
As you can see from my photographs I found some aspects of the building to be as interesting as the artwork on display. I have come across some negative comments on the web but everyone that I spoke to while I was there really liked it and it certainly appealed to children. Myself, I really enjoyed my visit.
Please excuse the quality of some of the photographs but as I do not use flash the available light was an ongoing problem for me.
He's putting in some drip irrigated garden terraces. Lots of work, but definitely an efficient use of space and water, of which there's not much to be had.

Note giant 6' diagonal mirror, how am I not in it? Easy - walk to mirror, turn 180 degrees and shoot a photo, copy and paste in to the mirror in this image.
Rice Terraces are a common sight everywhere in Bali's countryside. The fertile soil created by the volcanic eruptions are most suitable for rice cultivation.

The rare moment on the mountains in Yunan where you can have a clear vision of the trees reflected in the terraced paddy fields emerging from the morning mist 1800 metres above sea level.
这是一张平凡的照片。可是,身处云雾中的梯田是另一种感觉。在这个21世纪的繁华世界里,可亲身体会到‘又得浮生半日闲’境界。 2010年2月
669 Atlantic Avenue at South Portland Avenue
Fort Greene
Brooklyn, New York
Soon to be the home of an affordable housing development called "Atlantic Terrace".
From the NYC Housing Development Corporation's website:
"A new 10-story co-op with 80 low, middle and market-rate apartments will be built on the vacant lot at 669 Atlantic Avenue between South Portland Avenue and South Oxford Street, across the street from the Atlantic Yards site."
Unfortunately, they are not going to install solar panels as planned, as the building would be virtually in perpetual shade due to the towers of Atlantic Yards, which would be to the south, across Atlantic Avenue.

Back at the Riu Palace and the sun shone for the rest of our holiday :-)
Angela took the opportunity to catch up with her cross-stitch project whilst sat on our terrace.

This was on our way to Terrace Falls. It was the hardest part of the walk after all the rain we've had. The water was flowing pretty quick and we had to walk over the log to get to the falls - a part of the walk I wasn't so happy about!!
MoMA terrace. New York, 1998. This was the terrace next to the cafeteria where people sat to read and relax. Years after the MoMa needed more space and they build over this terrace.
