The Villa Savoye is considered by many to be the seminal work of the Swiss architect Le Corbusier. Situated at Poissy, outside of Paris, it is an iconic architectural example of early modernism, the so-called International Style. Construction was completed circa 1929 but fell into disrepair during World War II. It has since been fully restored and is open for viewing.
The house addressed "The Five Points", his basic tenets of a new aesthetic of architecture:
1. The pilotis, or ground-level supporting columns, elevating the building.
2. A flat roof terrace reclaims the area of the building site for domestic purposes, including a garden area.
3. The free plan, made possible by the elimination of load-bearing walls.
4. Horizontal windows provide even illumination and ventilation.
5. The freely-designed facade, unconstrained by load-bearing considerations, consists of a thin skin of wall and windows.

Proposals for legislation to provide more homes like this
After sightseeing in Timisoara we had a last drink on a nice terrace and then our long ride back to Holland started. Firest we had to drive on some smaller roads, but then we crossed the Romanian-Hungarian border and came on a comfortable highway. We did not see much of Hungary as we just wanted to get as far as possible. We were hoping to get to Linz, where we could stay with a friend from Couichsurfing. Just before crossing the Hungarian-Austrian border we stopped in Hegyeshalom, to meet a friend who actually lives in Timisoara. He is an actor and he is living for some months in Hungary to work on an international theatre production. We had not seen each other for several years and he was changed a lot (check out his older pictures). He was there with a collegue and they were both drunk, although they had to perform on the stage within an hour. Most of the restaurants in the village were closed, but opposite the station was a place where we could eat a gulash dish outside.
Closed 5 September 2017 and mostly demolished since

I was slightly entertained by the fact that the benches face away from the view... But then I'm no fan of lazy gestures - you should have to put some effort in to appreciate these views! And perhaps it could be argued that you need to take a rest after doing so...

I spent half an hour or so digging stuff out of the 'bits box' to make up a diorama based around the new terraced houses kit.
Some grass sheet, a few bits of card wall, fence and some figures soon did the job.

Jati Luwih is a favorite tourist destination in Bali famous with the beautiful rice terrace unfolding from the foot of mountain until the coastal side. It is one of places to visit in Bali with the beautiful view as according to its name from Jati and luwih, where Jati mean really and Luwih meaning special, good, and beautiful or the equivalent. The local paddies are planted in this place look typically of the high relative size plant if it is compared with other pre-eminent paddy planted by most farmers in Bali . Despitefully, Jatiluwih also famous with its organic agriculture system due to the location is located in the in the plateau of Watukaru Mount which is suitable for the agriculture development.
Jati Luwih is surrounded by cool atmosphere because it is located in the height of 700 meters above sea level. Besides its nature potency, Jati Luwih is also saving the cultural potency, especially history of the Petali Temple existence that is related to the power of Ida Dalem Waturenggong King in Keraton Gelgel (1460 - 1552). The distance from Denpasar to Jati Luwih is about 48 km and it is situated in upstate of Tabanan town (28 Km). The road to this place has been progressively improved so that motor vehicle can enter from east side through Pacung Village and go to Jati Luwih and also from the west side from Watukaru Temple pass to Jati Luwih.
This photo was taken on the 4th day of the Bali Safari Photography trip organized by Dr. Teh Ban Hup (http://banhup.com/) on July 22, 2009. The initial plan was to take sunrise from the rice terrace with farmers. However due to the rain, we've decided to skip the shooting despite waking up very early in the morning.
Taken a few weeks after the big earthquake in 1976. Some of the local people had moved out onto the terraced onion fields because they felt safer than in the village.

These rice terraces are up to 3000 tiers high and have an extremely intelligent irrigation system. Also, animals kept in the top layers supply the fertilizer in form of dung, which gets washed down every tier through the irrigation channels. these terraces are known to be 1300 years old (from bronze excavations found nr. Kunming only in the 1950s) and maybe older. To this day, the Hani people (aka Akha in some countries of southern Asia) work on and create ever new terraces. A wonder of this world!
