De energiecentrale Kolubara van Termo Elektrana Nikola Tesla in Veliki Crljen wordt bevoorraad vanuit de Kolubara-mijn. Daarvoor is een ruim drie kilometer lange smalspoorlijn in gebruik. Helaas was om allerlei vage redenen het fotograferen van de smalspoortreinen niet toegestaan. Opmerkelijk, want over het nabij gelegen normaalsporige emplacement bij de kolenverlading van Vreoci mocht vrijelijk gewandeld worden en kiekjes maken was ook geen probleem. Gelukkig is het met wat creativiteit toch gelukt een smalspoorkolentrein op de foto te zetten. Locomotief 17E-2, gebouwd door Škoda, met een beladen trein in Veliki Crljen. Deze aansluiting is overigens ook voor normaalspoortreinen te bereiken, zie de derde rail rechts van de trein; 24 mei 2023.

Eu já estava a pensar que o meu dia tinha acabado, em termos de fotografia, na Estrada Parque, e estava regressando ao hotel quando vi dois destes pequenotes aproveitando os últimos raios do sol. Como eles estavam do lado errado do carro, tive que sair e, devagarinho, fui-me aproximando, até que fiquei apenas a uns 3m de distância deles. E eles lá ficaram, muito tranquilos, a posar para mim. Foi realmente uma grande sensação, até porque eu nunca tinha encontrado esta linda espécie antes.

I was already considering that my shooting day in Pantanal Park Road was over and I was driving back to the hotel when I saw two of these little fellows enjoying the very last rays of sun. As they were on the wrong side of the car, I had to get out and I slowly aproached them, until I was no more than 3m distant. And they have remained there, very quiet and posing for me. It was really a great sensation, even because I had never met this lovely species before.

You know that feeling that we always want to fly as high as possible to get far, because then I learned that we can do anything and just want to chase! 441-01 van Termo Elektrana Nikola Tesla (TENT) heeft met een lege kolentrein overlaadstation Vreoci bijna bereikt. Dit is een van de acht locomotieven van dit type die het verkeer tussen de laadpunten en centrales van TENT verzorgt; 25 mei 2023.

Nikloa Tesla has its own 57 km rail network. it has ten electric locos class 443 for shunting purposes. 443-07 shunting with empties at the loading plant at Vreoci. Although I was standing on a public road tot take this photo, the TENT-security ordered me to leave.
Under smoky August skies, an EUCHQ (Eugene to Chicago Quality manifest) enters Termo, California, a mere dot on the map in the heart of the Madeline Plains. Fortunately, there was no traffic on parallel US 395 to block the view of this Southern Pacific train as it rolled through the sagebrush.
When this Kodachrome was exposed, there was under a month to go before Union Pacific took over control of The Friendly Espee. In less than a year, these Modoc Line rails would feel their last train. Today, the abandoned grade is a hiking trail.

The fountain original formed part of a promenade flanked by stone benches that ran under the Llandrius country house.
In the past there was a tree in the middle of the grounds and other trees located around its circular shaped perimeter. In 1949 it was refurbished and became an extraordinary viewpoint where the plains of the Pascal House and, mainly, the whole Valley right to -tregurà could be seen.

On the way home from a camping trip I pulled over at Termo California (gateway to Madeline, Likely, and parts beyond). It was a good place for a leg stretch and, since starting my journey into near infrared photography, it has been on the list of places to explore in invisible light. There are the remains of an old gas station/market there as well as this old abandoned house with an old cottonwood tree in what used to be the front yard. I shot this image with my 590 nanometer filter, which allows the orange/red end of visible light through along with the near infrared. This allows for some interesting opportunities to get creative in post production and create interesting “false color” images such as this.
Termo, which as also gone by the names Snowstorm and Armstrong, is a bit of a ghost town in Lassen County, California. It was located on the now abandoned Southern Pacific Railroad line 32 miles (51 km) north-northeast of my own Lassen County home. I was the original 1900 terminus of the Nevada–California–Oregon Railway, before the line was extended north. In my youth a gas station and small market operated there but as highway speeds have gotten faster and automotive ranges have gotten longer, it has long since been abandoned and have also fallen into decay.

( Stupa é uma construção em forma de torre, circundada por uma abóbada e um ou vários chanttras (toldos de lona). Originalmente era um monumento funerário de pedra, semi-esférico, com cúpula, mirante e balaustrada. Com o advento do Budismo, evoluiu para uma representação arquitectónica do Cosmos. O acesso a stupa é feito por um arco ou porta, normalmente adornado com esculturas. No entanto, as masi comuns são simples. Normalmente contém relíquias ou 'pequenos tesouros' simbólicos de uma determinada crença.
Outros termos para designar a stupa são chaitya, pagode e chorten.

Stupa is a symbol of enlightened mind, (the awakened mind, universal divinity) and the path to its realisation.
If you had to use just two words, the best definition I have seen is "Spiritual Monument"
The stupa represents the Buddha's body, his speech and his mind, but most especially his mind and every part shows the path to Enlightenment

Portuguese
Baependi é um município do estado de Minas Gerais, no Brasil. De acordo com o censo realizado pelo Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística em 2010, sua população é de 18 292 habitantes.
Topônimo
"Baependi" é um palavra oriunda da língua tupi. Significa "água da coisa achatada", através da junção dos termos mba'e ("coisa"), peb ("achatado") e 'y ("água, rio").[7] Outra teoria diz que o nome provém do tupi mbaé-pindi, que significa "a clareira aberta".
História
De acordo com relatos sertanistas, a região sul-mineira ficou conhecida pelos europeus a partir de 1601. Até então, a região era habitada pelos índios puris.[8] A conquista europeia de Baependi aconteceu, no entanto, em fins do século XVII, por volta de 1692, quando os paulistas Antonio Delgado da Veiga, seu filho João da Veiga e o tio de Miguel Garcia Velho, o capitão Manoel Garcia Velho, partiram de Taubaté, em São Paulo, em busca de ouro. Transpondo a Serra da Mantiqueira, alcançaram um sítio que chamaram Maependi.
Cidade remanescente do chamado Ciclo do Ouro em Minas Gerais, Baependi se desenvolveu ao longo do caminho da Estrada Real - a primeira grande via de comunicação regular no Brasil -, que ligava a região das minas a Paraty, no Rio de Janeiro, porto de onde saía o ouro em direção à Europa.
O madeirense Tomé Rodrigues Nogueira do Ó (1715), capitão-mor e provedor dos quintos do Registro da Mantiqueira, foi um dos primeiros moradores do local. Foi considerado o fundador da cidade, por ter erguido as suas primeiras construções. A mineração foi, paulatinamente, substituída pela agricultura e pela criação de gado. Destacou-se a grande lavoura do tabaco, que fez de Baependi o centro produtor da Província de Minas Gerais e que representou importante fonte de riqueza até meados do século XIX.
Atualmente, a economia do município é baseada na agricultura, no comércio, no artesanato, na comercialização de pedras de quartzito e no turismo, já que a beleza natural é o forte da cidade, cercada de montanhas, matas, rios e inúmeras cachoeiras. O artesanato é uma importante atividade econômica em Baependi. As peças feitas em bambu, palha de milho e tronco de cafeeiro são distribuídas em grandes centros urbanos, como São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte e capitais da Região Nordeste do Brasil.

The area of the municipality is 751.748 km². The city belongs to the mesoregion of Sul e Sudoeste de Minas and to the microregion of São Lourenço. Coordinates: 21°57′S 44°53′W
History
According to some reports, mining occurred in the southern region from 1601. The conquest of Baependi happened, however, at the end of the seventeenth century, around 1692, when the São Paulo Delgado Antonio da Veiga, his son Joao da Veiga and uncle Miguel Garcia of the old master Manoel Garcia Velho, started from Taubaté, in search of gold. Crossing the Serra da Mantiqueira, they reached a site that called maependi (mbaé-pindi means "to open clearing" in Tupi-guarani).
City remainder of the so-called cycle of Gold in Minas Gerais, Baependi has developed along the path of Estrada Real - the first major means of regular communication in Brazil - which link the region of mines to Paraty (RJ), port from where the rising gold toward Europe.
The Madeiran Tome Rodrigues Nogueira of O (1715), Captain-mor and Ombudsman of Quintos the "registration of the Mantiqueira" was one of the first residents of the site and was considered the founder of the city for doing the first building. The mining was, gradually, replaced by agriculture and cattle breeding. It is a great crop of tobacco, which was the center of Baependi producer of the Province of Minas Gerais and represented major source of wealth until the mid-nineteenth century.
Currently, the municipality's economy is based on agriculture, trade in handicrafts, marketing of stones, quartzite and tourism, as is the strong natural beauty of the city, surrounded by mountains, forests, rivers and numerous waterfalls. The craft is an important economic activity in Baependi. The pieces made in bamboo, straw, corn and tree trunk of coffee are distributed in large urban centers such as São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, capital of northeast.
Religion
Baependi has had a parish church since 1723. The ceremony of the Holy Week in Baependi has continued for over 200 years, being one of the most traditional of Minas Gerais. The daily processions accompanied by banda music and choir, the representation of the Passion and Death of Jesus Christ, the corner of Veronica, the sound of bells and the sound of matracas, show the faith and tradition baependianas.

Termo Elektrana Nikola Tesla is een complex met energiecentrales met een eigen spoorwegnet waarover kolen worden getransporteerd. Jaarlijks gaat het om zo'n 25 miljoen ton. Het materieelpark bestaat uit twintig elektrische locomotieven en twee diesellocomotieven. In 2016 nam TENT twee door het Chinese CRRC gebouwde machines in gebruik. De 463-002 is daar één van; op 25 mei 2023 verliet de locomotief het kolenlaadstation Vreoci.

This old deserted general store sits feet from highway 395, a major highway between Nevada, eastern California and Oregon, the town of Termo is now a ghost town although it is said one residence is still lived in. A recent ghost town as the soda machine does not appear to be an antic and the sign states they sold diesel #2, which would indicate fuel for pickup trucks or cars manufactured in recent history.
