The term "Moot" relates to a meeting place, hence the current name of this Tudor building. Initially the building on Aldeburgh beach was used as a town hall. The building which is believed to date to 1550 would have been a status symbol for the ever more prosperous shipbuilding and trading centre.
Au Xème siècle, à 460 mètres d’altitude en surplomb des vertigineuses gorges du Termenet, se dresse une première fortification, celle du premier château de Termes. Au XIIème siècle, un village occupe la pente méridionale de son pech: Termes est devenu un castrum. Les seigneurs de Termes, riches et influents, sont les puissants vassaux du vicomte de Carcassonne-Béziers, Trencavel. Pour le chef des croisés, Simon de Montfort, Termes est une cible prioritaire. Il l’assiège dès 1210. La prise de ce lieu stratégique, réputé inexpugnable, marque les esprits, et inspire de nombreux chroniqueurs.
In the 10th century, at an altitude of 460 meters overlooking the dizzying Termenet Gorges, the first fortification, the first Château de Termes, stood. In the 12th century, a village occupied the southern slope of its pech: Termes had become a castrum. The wealthy and influential lords of Termes were powerful vassals of the Viscount of Carcassonne-Béziers, Trencavel. For the leader of the crusaders, Simon de Montfort, Termes was a priority target. He besieged it in 1210. The capture of this strategic location, reputed to be impregnable, left a lasting impression and inspired numerous chroniclers.
Nel X secolo, a 460 metri di altitudine, sopra le vertiginose gole di Termenet, sorgeva la prima fortificazione: quella del primo castello di Termes. Nel XII secolo un villaggio occupò il versante meridionale del suo pech: Termes divenne un castrum. I ricchi e influenti signori di Termes erano potenti vassalli del visconte di Carcassonne-Béziers, Trencavel. Per il capo dei crociati, Simone di Montfort, Termes è un obiettivo prioritario. La assediò a partire dal 1210. La conquista di questa posizione strategica, considerata inespugnabile, lasciò il segno e ispirò molti cronisti.

Millstone Grit is an informal term for gritstones which are found in Pennines and the Peak District. These sediments were laid down in the Paleozoic era, in the Carboniferous period, about 360 million to 300 million years ago. Gritstone is a hard, coarse grained, siliceous sandstone, the name is given to sandstones which are quarried for building material. British gritstone was used for millstones to mill flour, to grind wood into pulp for paper and for grindstones to sharpen blades.

Banyuls-sur-Mer es un localidad y comuna francesa situada en la antigua comarca del Rosellón que, administrativamente pertenece al departamento francés de los Pirineos Orientales y a la región del Languedoc-Rosellón y que se extiende desde la sierra de la Albera hasta el mar.
Limita con los municipios de Cerbère, Port-Vendres, Argelès-sur-Mer y Collioure y con los municipios de Colera y Rabós en el Alto Ampurdán. Su término va desde los O m al nivel del Mediterráneo hasta los 965 m de la Albera.
La historia de Banyuls-sur-Mer no se puede escribir sin mencionar a Cerbère, las dos comunas, hoy separadas, tuvieron un pasado único, cuya división se llevó a cabo con la firma del Tratado de los Pirineos el 7 de noviembre de 1659.
Banyuls-sur-Mer is a French town and commune located in the former region of Roussillon that, administratively, belongs to the French department of the Eastern Pyrenees and the Languedoc-Roussillon region and which extends from the Sierra de la Albera to the sea.
It limits with the municipalities of Cerbère, Port-Vendres, Argelès-sur-Mer and Collioure and with the municipalities of Colera and Rabós in Alto Ampurdán. Its term ranges from 0 m at the level of the Mediterranean to 965 m of the Albera.
The history of Banyuls-sur-Mer cannot be written without mentioning Cerbère, the two communes, today separated, had a unique past, whose division was carried out with the signing of the Treaty of the Pyrenees on November 7, 1659.
It's half term already for us folks and we are preparing for our first Thailand holiday tomorrow and I shall be away for the next week.
We have arrived in Thailand at a time of change for the local railways. There is enormous investment into new infrastructure in Bangkok and in the next 2-3 years public transport will look very different here. I am pleased that I can observe the old ways on the railways before they are gone forever. This is Bang Sue Junction station, soon to be replaced by an enormous interchange. The Buddhist monk really stood out when he crossed the track and although I'm not known for photoshopping in such a way this one just begged to be done.

A term that was coind by Austrian 19th century poet Peter Rosegger, describing his homeland. This is the valey where he was born and raised. In fact you can see his birthplace in the back above the mist. This shot was taken after a thunderstorm had passt by.
