Shots of the Brigantine Beach Community Center, which is now the temporary operating site of the Brigantine branch while repairs are being made due to hurricane Sandy.
The bus station on an extremely quiet evening in Penticton; the streets were devoid of people (probably all home watching TV). There was an hour or so of great afternoon light for photography though. I walked around the outside of the bus station which was closed and therefore similarly devoid of activity. The closure of Highway 97 for a couple of weeks due to an unstable cliff meant that many regular bus runs were cancelled.
Created by an overnight rain, one of the temporary waterfalls cascades to the waters of Milford Sound.

Proud parents and children inside the temporary classroom. The spelling of primery is of course based on the sound of the word. English the second language in Tamil Nadu and is a valuable skill for the children to develop.
Another shot from the same shrine grounds in Kyoto, this time showing the temporary 'shelters' (cannot call the really restaurants, despite the title) where people can have some food while wtaching at the trees - typical setting for matsuris in general, not only hanami.

Tokyo, 2009
Fresh off the shinkansen (bullet train) from Osaka and smiling big on the final full day in Japan.
There was a lot to smile about: I'd visited a score of interesting, photogenic places, seen Mt. Fuji against a nearly cloudless sky during the ride north on the train from Osaka, arrived early to find my cushy room where I was spending my last night was not only ready, but was as spacious and comfortable as I'd hoped. And it had a panoramic view of western Tokyo.

They have constructed a temporary ceiling over the huge disused works building. This will house this years annual arts event, The Eisteddfod.

Diyas are often used temporarily as lighting for special occasions, while diyas made of brass are permanent fixtures in homes and temples. Diyas are native to India, and are often used in Hindu, Sikh, Jain and Zoroastrian religious festivals such as Diwali or the Kushti ceremony. A similar lamp called a butter lamp is used in Tibetan Buddhist offerings as well.
