Yesterday at a garage sale I bought some containers of washable kids tempera paint. Six bottles for 3$.
My kind of price.
Yesterday, I tried dripping some of the paint on a gelatin filled globe, like the Sherwin-Williams logo. Crappy.
But filling the globes looks good. My backdrop had a real sparse Jackson Pollock look.
Cooler today, nice that the "heat wave" is winding down. Gotta finish packing, Sixty Lake Basin Ho...

First London recently put a batch of new Wright Gemini2-bodied Volvo B9TLs in to service on route 23, as typified hereby VN37959 seen here departing Liverpool Street Station for the run to its home garage of Westbourne Park during the afternoon of Tuesday 8th May.
It turns out these were a temporary measure, as a batch of Enviro400 Hybrids is now being delivered for route 23; indeed the first examples have now entered service. As the Volvos are displaced they will move over to North Acton, ready for when First takes over route 266 (Hammersmith - Brent Cross) from Metroline on 19th May. More Hybrids are due in September to complete the process, with the remaining Volvos moving over to route 295.

Crews are making great progress on the temporary work bridge, which is the wooden structure seen in the photo. Workers use it as the platform from which they build the new I-85 bridges over the Yadkin River. At this time, they have less than 300 feet left to construct and should be finished in June 2011.

After the accident that crunched our car, our dealership (who we set up to handle insurance for us), drove a temporary car to our house for us. It's for one day because tomorrow, we'll drive it to the dealership in Yuni, Hokkaido, and exchange it with a car similar to ours, that is being repaired.
This is a little unfinished table I created after my move two weeks ago, but realized my measurements were off, so I'm going to redo it soon. The brown lines were going to be pinstriped with white paint and a big handmade design would go behind the PowerBook. There's a second table that will accompany this table after I fix it.

Caspian Mine Headframe
The Caspian Mine Headframe is a steel mining building located at north of Caspian Road. The Caspian Mine opened in 1903, the second of three mines opened by the Verona Mining Company. Verona later sold the mine to the Pickands-Mather Company. The original headframe was wooden; the current structure was built as a replacement in 1921. The headframe is a 106 foot high steel-framed structure clad in corrugated steel siding. It is about 25 feet by 10 feet at the base and tapers to about 10 feet by 10 feet at the top. The stanchions constructed to support steel cables leading from the hoisthouse to the headframe are located nearby.
This headframe is significant as the oldest remaining headframe in Iron County. The Caspian Mine was the most productive mine in the county from its opening in 1903 until its closing in 1937. Pickands-Mather Company, the operator of the Caspian, eventually deeded the headframe, engine house, and the surrounding 5.5 acres to the Iron County Historical and Museum Society.
