The Telecom Tower stands proudly over Marylebone as a symbol of modern London. This cantilevered base building rises 620 ft high with microwave and fibre-optic comminications for the UK. An important piece of inferstructure, it was actually part of the Official State Secrets Act until the 1990s and not shown on any maps of London.
On the top is a sophisticated LED-based screen wrapped around the 36th and 37th floors. The display comprises some 529,750 LEDs arranged in 177 vertical strips, spaced around the tower. The display is the largest in the world of its type, currently its counting down days until the beginning of the London 2012 Summer Olympic Games.
Behind is the London Eye, Europe's largest ferris wheel. It's visited by over 3.5 million people annually, making the most popular paid tourist attraction in the UK.
