this is the first automated newsstand I've seen with a credit card acceptor. It's interesting since these have traditionally been very dumb devices, coarsely made. Now they have little electronic brains and communications.
พระไตรปิฎก จปร. อักษรสยาม 2436 ฉบับอนุรักษ์ดิจิทัล 2552 พิมพ์โดยกองทุนสนทนาธัมม์นำสุขฯ ในพระสังฆราชูปถัมภ์ฯ เพื่อเผยแผ่ในโครงพระไตรปิฎกสากลในสมเด็จกรมหลวงนราธิวาสราชนครินทร์
พระไตรปิฎกอักษรสยามเป็นพระไตรปิฎกฉบับพิมพ์ชุดแรกของโลก และเป็นผลงานทางภูมิปัญญาระดับสูงของชาติไทย เพราะเป็นผลจากการบูรณาการคลังความรู้ต่างๆ ที่เป็นเลิศเพื่อสืบทอดพระไตรปิฎกปาฬิ การดำเนินการตรวจทานและจัดพิมพ์ฉบับอักษรสยามชุดนี้ ซึ่งใช้เวลาประมาณ 6 ปี เป็นการเปลี่ยนแปลงที่สำคัญในด้านเทคโนโลยีและวิธีการสืบทอดพระพุทธพจน์ในประวัติศาสตร์พุทธศาสนาของโลก 5 ประการ
การเปลี่ยนแปลงที่สำคัญในการสืบทอดปาฬิ 5 ประการ มีดังนี้
1. การเปลี่ยนแปลงสื่อที่บันทึกพระไตรปิฎกปาฬิ จาก “ใบลาน” เป็น “กระดาษ” (การเปลี่ยนแปลงในรอบ 2,000 ปี หลังบันทึกพระไตรปิฎกเป็นลายลักษณ์อักษรในพุทธศตวรรษที่ 4)
2. การเปลี่ยนแปลงอักษรที่ใช้บันทึกภาษาปาฬิจาก “อักษรขอมโบราณ” เป็นการเรียงพิมพ์ด้วย “อักษรสยามที่ทันสมัย” (การเปลี่ยนแปลงในรอบ 1,000 ปี ของอารยธรรมอักษรขอมในสุวรรณภูมิ)
3. การเปลี่ยนแปลงวิธีการบันทึก จาก “การใช้มือเขียน / จารลงใบลาน” เป็นการ “ตีพิมพ์ด้วยเครื่องจักร” (การเปลี่ยนแปลงใช้เทคโนโลยีการพิมพ์ที่ทันสมัยแห่งยุค)
4. การเปลี่ยนแปลงระบบเอกสารสารสนเทศ จากพระไตรปิฎกใบลาน เป็นแผ่นๆ หรือ “ระบบเอกสารเดี่ยว” (document) เป็นการสร้าง “ระบบเอกสารรวมศูนย์” (document centric) ของหนังสือพระไตรปิฎก เช่น ระบบเลขหน้าและสารบัญ (แนวคิดที่ล้ำยุคสารสนเทศในสมัยนั้น ซึ่งได้พัฒนาเป็น database และ data-centric ในปัจจุบัน)
5. การเปลี่ยนระบบการเก็บรักษาและเผยแผ่พระไตรปิฎกปาฬิ จากการเก็บรักษาเฉพาะในสถาบันพระพุทธศาสนาในประเทศ หรือ “ระบบหอไตร” เป็นการเก็บรักษาในสถาบันชั้นนำต่างๆ ในนานาประเทศทั่วโลก (การสร้างระบบ “เครือข่ายบรรณารักษศาสตร์พระไตรปิฎกนานาชาติ”)

This 40-volume collection was unveiled at the King Chulachomklao of Siam Tipitaka & KMLO Lecture, Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy on July 3, 2008.
The 40th volume, entitle, the Thai International Wisdom-based Technology & National Security, was published as a special addition as a conceptual index to this 39-volume edition.
This publication is part of the World Tipiṭaka Project in Roman script to present the World Tipiṭaka Edition to leading international institutions worldwide which received the King of Siam Tipiṭaka edition from King Chulachomklao over the centuries ago.

The all-day event featured more than 60 booths offering interactive activities designed to inform, entertain and stimulate an interest in STEM.
