In eight of Kenya's most impoverished areas, Cisco Systems, Inveneo, and its Certified ICT Partners, are bringing connectivity and information access to underserved areas through Community Knowledge Centers (CKCs) in partnership with the Clinton Global Initiative. Each CKC is intended to be a resource to aid in the long-term economic development of the community in which it has been established.
The Sombeza Community Knowledge Center seeks to embrace the power of ICTs to drive the information management and sharing process through providing access to information, communication and technology services to the rural and peri-urban communities. The center also seeks to raise the levels of awareness on the value of ICT knowledge in the process of developing and implementing initiatives that aims at improving the living standards of the rural communities.
Th Sombeza CKC is located Mariakani, a town on the boundary between Kaloleni and Kinango districts (formerly Kilifi and Kwale respectively), in the Coast Province of Kenya, 36 kilometres northwest of the port city of Mombasa.

The Frank Sinatra Starkey Hearing Technologies Celebrity Invitational is dedicated to the memory and music of Frank Sinatra and benefits the Barbara Sinatra Center for Abused Children. The Frank Sinatra Starkey Hearing Technologies Celebrity Invitational enjoys a rich history as one of the marquee golf and fundraising events in the Palm Springs, California desert. Each year, celebrities, amateur contestants, loyal sponsors and enthusiastic spectators from all over the country look forward to returning to this unique "celebrity friendly" event.
Known as "Frank's little party in the desert," Barbara and Frank Sinatra founded the Frank Sinatra Celebrity Invitational in 1988 to raise funds for the Barbara Sinatra Center for Abused Children at Eisenhower Medical Center, which opened in 1986. Through their efforts, and those of supporters throughout the world, the Frank Sinatra Starkey Hearing Technologies Celebrity Invitational is now one of the most successful events of it's kind.
The mission of the Barbara Sinatra Center for Abused Children is to provide counseling for victims of physical, sexual and emotional abuse and to focus on prevention, community education and breaking the generational cycle of abuse. Barbara Sinatra is quick to thank supporters of the "Frank Sinatra Starkey Hearing Technologies Celebrity Invitational, and she is proud to say "The children who come to us for help continue to receive the therapy they need and deserve; no child is turned away due to a family's inability to pay."
The Frank Sinatra Starkey Hearing Technologies Celebrity Invitational is a five (5) player team gross and net scramble golf tournament held at Eagle Falls Golf Course in Indio, California. The Fantasy Springs Resort Casino, also in Indio, is the tournament's hotel and venue for three nights of parties and a spectacular luncheon and fashion show.
One (1) celebrity and four (4) contestants are a team. The team of four (4) amateur players remains together for two (2) consecutive days. The celebrity contestant changes teams for the second day. Current USGA handicaps are verified and applied to all contestants.
The CFS exhibit hall continues to expand as new technologies are put on display. #NATCACFS2019 features many current modernization programs with a presence in the exhibit hall, and in most cases, the exhibits are staffed by our NATCA Article 114 Reps and their FAA program management counterparts. I have been looking into the relationship between technology and people. Particularly in terms of the human effect we have on technology. We leave behind dust which is made from human skin cells, clothing fibres, food, grease and oil which can impact on its performance, particularly in terms of heat reduction; fans, heat sinks etc. Ironic when you think of the impact technology is said to have on our environment. This primarily human waste product can be seen as a representation of our dependence and reliance on computers in our society. We think of computers as machines with a lack of personality and void of biological life, however under close examination this is not the case. A colony of dust can form inside our computers creating unique structures and shapes from our body’s emissions. These images were made using old computer parts and were shot using a lens reversal technique to magnify a particular area of a circuit board or component.
Approximately 378 grams of human skin were shed in the making of this project.
