On 27 February 1877 the foundation stone of this school was laid by Thomas Bath Esquire of Kooringa. The stone is of Teatree Gully freestone.
Residents of Kooringa, Redruth & Aberdeen and other outlying villages of Burra gathered for the unveiling of the new Burra Hospital as well as the setting of the foundation stone of the Model School.
The school, built on land donated by the South Australian Mining Association, was opened 14 April 1878.
Builder & contractor: Sara and Dunstan.
For the convenience of the Ministry and visitors from Adelaide a special train left town at 10am and arrived at the Burra at 1.40pm.
The afternoon was observed as a general holiday, all the shops in the three townships being closed and the employees of the South Australian Mining Association suspended work at noon.

今回入手した「Lime Ginger Teatree」にはビーガンプロダクツではないと注意書きがあった。マヌカハニーが入ってるのだ。

Close up of another species of Tea Tree I found in the area. I need to track down an I.D. but that may take a while. For now we can just admire how level it is! [Upper Blue Mountains, NSW]

On Tuesday 1st June 2021 I was lucky enough to see Ricky Gervais filming series 3 of his Netflix comedy-drama After Life on Hemel Hempstead’s old town High Street! They were filming in The Tea Tree Café for episode 3 of series 3. Both Ricky and his co-star Tony Way who plays Lenny were visible on location, along with Tom Andrews who was also in the scene.
After Life was created, written, produced and directed by Ricky Gervais, who also plays the lead character, Tony Johnson. As well as Ricky and Tony Way, the series also stars Tom Basden, Diane Morgan, Penelope Wilton, David Bradley and Ashley Jenson. It’s a very different series to Ricky’s previous work, dealing with the themes of death and suicide but it has helped people deal with their own grief and dark times which is why Ricky has written a third series for the first time. It is a dark series, but it’s also bloody funny! If you have access to Netflix I’d definitely recommend it
