Indeed a rarity to find a train running in the South of the State on a Saturday. Caterpillar units TR16 + TR 14 are nearing the end of their journey after spending the day travelling down towards Brighton through Tasmania's Midlands. The ground is showing it's pleasure after the recent rains and the handsome grey and yellow TR units look resplendent against the rich green and earthy background as they pass through the crossing loop at Tea Tree only 20 minutes from journeys end.

Located in the Volcanic Zone, Central North Island of New Zealand. This geyser rises up to 20 metres (66 feet) whilst other geysers in the area rise up to 30 metres (100 feet). Steamboat Geyser within Yellowstone in the U.S. is the World's tallest active geyser reaching up to 380 feet.
The weather was very iffy and I was not expecting to get much out of my little chase of Monday's late afternoon Log Train No 34. The rain pauses as a rainbow glows behind the hills and a patch of sunlight illuminates the train rounding the last curve before entering Tea Tree Crossing Loop.

Zosterops lateralis (wax-eye, white-eye, silver-eye, tauhou) perched in a Leptospermum scoparium (mānuka, tea tree) at the Christchurch Botanic Gardens, New Zealand.
I had been hoping to get a better image as I find the colour combination very appealing. However as they seem only interested in this tree as a source of insects rather than nectar, it is uncommon enough to even find one in it, much less get a decent photo.
As they recently obliterated two patches of natives which included this splendid tree (also tree fuscias, the most thriving kaka beak I have seen, and a nice hebe) I guess this will not be happening.

The addition of my new lens has given me a little incentive to get out after trains again. Although it's still the same old, same old ( TR Class ) I thought the extra pull of the lens might open up some different views and anyway I'm still desperate to play with my new toy !!. The Sunday afternoon paper train ( 1-32 ) looms into view as it slams through the S bend prior to Tea Tree Loop.

The river of mirrors is about 40km up the Noosa River from the sea in the Noosa Everglades in the Sunshine Coast in Queensland.
The Everglades represent an ancient waterway of some 60km that has existed unchanged for thousands of years.
At this point, the river is narrow and slow moving and immensely dense with tea-trees which thrive on the wetland and tropical conditions here.
Their tannins darken the water causing a surreal mirror effect whereby its often tricky to see the water line.
The Noosa Everglades is a wetland of international importance and part of the Noosa Biosphere, Queensland's first UNESCO
Biosphere incorporating four National Parks encompasses 150,000 hectares (circa 570 square miles) with an extensive
diversity eco-systems, culture, flora and fauna.
