English (Co Eyre) is a recently formed hundred in the N W part of the county, containing but a small part of purchased land. [Bailliere’s South Australian Gazetteer and Road Guide 1866]
Thomas English was a leading colonial architect in South Australia. He was Mayor of Adelaide 1862–63, and a member of the South Australian Legislative Council 1865–1878 and 1882–1884. As Mayor of the city Mr English was conspicuous for his integrity, urbanity, and hospitality.
The Hundred of English was named after English when it was proclaimed in 1866.
English was born in Maryport, Cumberland, England. He arrived in Adelaide 11 January 1850 on the barque ‘Richardson’ commanded by his brother James English: he was accompanied by Mrs English and his brother-in-law Mr Henry Brown.
The ship which Mr English’s brother commanded was chartered to bring out the plant and machinery and the miners and mechanics for the Burra Mine and the English and Australian Smelting Works.
The firm of English & Brown were large employers of labour. They opened the Glen Ewin Freestone Quarries at Teatree Gully.
They erected some of the finest public buildings in the province, including the Town Hall, the Post Office, Parliament Houses, Chalmers Church, the National Bank, Flinders Street Baptist Church and numerous residences.
Thomas English’s work as an architect also included the Kent Town Brewery buildings, corner of Rundle Street and Dequetteville Terrace, Kent Town. He died at his residence in Parkside, South Australia 17 December 1884. [Ref: South Australian Register 20-12-1884]
The District Council of English was a local government area in South Australia from 1878 to 1932 when it was amalgamated with the newly constituted District Council of Robertstown. Prior to 1932 the council had four wards: Bower Ward, Emmaus Ward, Robertstown Ward and Point Pass Ward.
The District Council of English was proclaimed 31 October 1878, and a Council Chamber was built in 1887.
The council seat was located at Point Pass although Robertstown was the largest town in the district. The council had four wards: Bower, Emmaus, Robertstown and Point Pass.
The town was named by Anne Richards, one of the town’s first residents: after Poynzpass (Northern Ireland), a locality known to her.

Following is information from the first meeting of the District Council of Robertstown:-
*District Council of Robertstown
The first meeting of the newly constituted District of Robertstown was held in the Robertstown Peace Institute hall 24 May 1932.
The District Council of Apoinga and the District Council of English having been amalgamated with the District Council of Robertstown were represented at the meeting.
At that meeting it was stated now that the amalgamation had come into force it remained for the Council to do it's level best for the whole of the district. Cr Farley said it gave him pleasure to rise to the occasion to welcome the Council to Robertstown.
He felt that the amalgamation of the two councils would lead to economy.
C Sandland, on behalf of the old Apoinga Council, thanked the sitting members of the old District of English, and congratulated them on the cordial spirit in which they had attended the meeting. [Ref: Burra Record 1-6-1932]
I am posting 10 images in this upload which will be boring for some, but I like them. The reason I like these, is the artistic points I see in them. I like free flowing lines and shapes and I think these look nice, even though they represent destruction. The way the dead branches reach upwards in a crisscross disarray often set against the late afternoon cloud, appeals to me. This area is close to Finch Bay a few kilometres out of Cooktown.
It was in 2001/2002 in very poor rainfall seasons, that the whole extensive swamp area dried out allowing the salt water to rise towards the surface into the root zone of these splendid, large paperbark trees (swamp melaleucas) - "tea trees" to some. After that the whole area was taken over by many invasive weed species and rubbish trees. The Cook Shire is trying to repair the damage but gets no help from the State Government, but some from the Federal Govt environmental schemes.
I believe this is a type of soldier fly. Like the bees, beetles and wasps, it too had made its way to the profusion of white Leptospermum flowers to get a drunk of sweet nectar. Found on a bush care site in Katoomba, Blue Mountains, NSW.

Now that I'm making soap for fun, I can do what I want. I like a cubey soap with all kinds of botanicals, herbs, spices, etc.
Ingredients: olive oil, palm kernel oil, coconut oil, water, sodium hydroxide, bulgarian lavender oil, tea tree oil, cardamom oil, dead sea clay, black walnut & various botanicals
More flowers from our garden.... The wonderful little tea-tree flowers are laden with water from a night of rain - so much so that the plant that only a few days ago was climbing for the sun was almost doubled over under the extra weight.
I typically upload in small sets - don't just look at the latest one in my photostream as you might be missing something you'll like more.... and your comments are ALWAYS welcome :)

A scene of ancient tea trees above Mannong old village. This tree is more than 600 years old and the teas being plucked are destined for Rishi’s Ancient Emerald Lily Green Tea and Moonlight White Tea.
In 2007 I was lucky enough to take a flight into the "iconic" south west Wilderness of Tasmania.
The scenery is almost untouched by humans, and for a very small area, is wild and wonderful.
After landing at the small airfield at Melaleuca, we went in a boat out and around the islands of Port Davey, and were fortunate to have very calm weather. The sand is pure white, of a quartz type I would guess, and the creeks running out to sea are all stained with a brown tannin, from the teatree and peaty soil.
I intend to upload quite a few images I have picked out from the 100's I took that memorable day!

By chance, by luck or maybe fate, i arrive on the swampy edges of lake Innes conservation reserve. Tea-Tree thrives and i marvel in the density and beauty of the forest. When the wild places call us our deepest questions can be answered. What am i doing with this life? Bringing myself into momentary awareness, coherence and simplicity guide my bones on a journey into the unknown. Toward natural places i haven't visited. This is what i love, and it is what i will do..... All roads lead to one destination.

Terbukti banget sejak pertama sekali aku pakai langsung terasa kelembutannya. Teman aku bener banget merekomendasikan face soap love banget.
2. DAY CREAM
Perlu banget neh day cream, menunjang aktifitas aku kebanyakan outdoor selalu terpapar sinar matahari bikin kulit wajah hitam deh.
Wajib coba nih day creamnya ya.
3. NIGHT CREAM
6. Serum Acne

The Charge to St Peter. Window in Lady Chapel dedicated to first Bishop of Adelaide, Augustus Short, created by Powell & Sons, London. “Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. Feed my lambs. Feed my sheep. Follow thou Me.” [John 21: 15-19]
“There are-three-stained-glass windows in the walls of-the chapel. That on the left depicts the charge to St: Peter, and is ‘Dedicated to the Rev. Augustus Short, D.D., first Bishop of the diocese of Adelaide, in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of his episcopate, St. Peter's Day: A.D. MDCCCLXXII’. . . executed by Messrs. J. Powell & Sons, of-the Whitefriars glass works, London, to replace those which were built in the original chancel wall, and which were presented on its demolition to other churches.” [Advertiser 30 Mar 1904]
THE LADY CHAPEL
Consecrated 7 Apr 1904, architect Mr.-E. J: Woods. When the chancel wall was demolished, the 2 triple windows (created by Wailes & Co 1876) were removed and given to Holy Trinity Adelaide and St Bartholomew’s Norwood. The new apse formed the Lady Chapel, funds being donated by Priscilla Simms in memory of her husband Dean Alfred Simms. Three new triple windows designed by John William Brown of Powell & Sons, Whitefriars were donated by Robert Barr Smith. The 2 windows removed had been dedicated to Bishop Augustus Short and Dean James Farrell & his wife Grace Montgomery; as are two of the new windows in the Lady Chapel.
“The builders are now engaged in laying the foundations of the lady chapel that is to be built behind the Cathedral out of a donation made by Mrs. Alfred Simms. Already the great north-western wall of the Cathedral has been pulled down, and the men have nearly finished excavating the vestries beneath the chapel. Two massive stone piers, three lofty archways, and a reredos 30 ft. high, will occupy the site of the old wall. The lady chapel will be in the shape of an octagon. It is to be built of Teatree Gully brown stone, with Murray-bridge freestone dressings.” [Advertiser 7 Feb 1903]
“lady chapel . . is the gift of Priscilla Simms, in grateful recognition of the gracious goodness of God and in memory of her husband, Alfred Simms. [Advertiser 30 Mar 1904]
“St. Peter's Cathedral . . . The spires to the Cathedral were built as the result of a donation of £10,000 by Mr. Barr Smith . . . [He] has also given three windows. . . The lady chapel and vestry are the gift of Mrs Simms, who is also giving a reredos.” [Advertiser 30 Mar 1904]
“The walls of the chapel are built mainly of brick, faced on the inside with dressed Murray River freestone, and externally with Teatree Gully freestone.” [Chronicle 2 Apr 1904]
“The question of stained glass for the central window was settled by Mr. Barr Smith generously offering to be responsible for the expense. Then a difficulty arose. Owing to the improvement in the art of staining glass which has taken place during the last quarter of a century, and other causes, the central window would be so greatly superior to those between which it would be placed that the harmonious effect of the whole would, be destroyed, and it would seem hardly on honour to the memory of Bishop Short and Dean Farrell that they should be represented by windows which would appear so inferior. The question then resolved itself into how to preserve the memorials to the late Bishop and Dean, and at the same time get over the difficulty which the stained glass presented. Mr. Barr Smith again generously came to the rescue, and offered to give new glass for all three windows, stipulating in the most emphatic terms that the two side windows were to be memorials to the late Bishop Short and Dean Farrell, and should bear the same inscriptions as at present.” [Register 1 Dec 1900]
