After 10 days of travel, winter camping, and dog care, I'm finally here. This is what it was all about.
I'm excited to be at this historic venue, catching a show of a surviving member of my favorite band, the Grateful Dead.
Phil Lesh always puts on a quality show, and is never predictable.
As the old adage about live shows of the Dead goes, no two nights are the same. Phil has always been one of the stronger taskmasters of the band, and his shows are always a quest, as he is always searching for the sound.
His shows never disappoint, either. Phil has never "phoned it in", as they say, and his fellow musicians are either jazz musicians or have the same chops, ready for improvised solos and journeys.
The folks who have seen him live since Jerry passed 29 years ago can attest: When you go to Phil's shows you will boogie. On your feet the whole time, dancing. Phil never lets the tempo drag, and that's the biggest reason I love going to experience his shows whenever I can.
