This is the Target department store located at 2116 North Roan Street within the Johnson City Shopping Center in Johnson City, TN. It originally opened on October 31, 1963 as Johnson City's (as well as the Tri-Cities area) first Kmart store. It would remain open until 1994, when Kmart decided to move to a new Super Kmart about 3 miles away off State of Franklin Road. In 1995, it was completely renovated inside and out as a Target store. It would get remodeled sometime in the 2010s (not sure of the exact year though, as I don’t come to Johnson City often).

This is the mature buck I'm pursuing from my hide. I only got three frames this morning in deep shade and he was on the move following a doe. I created a fake scrape here and the younger bucks are all over it, but the old bucks are old for a reason. Hope to get this buck in some decent light soon. The season is not over. Our beautiful world, pass it on.

Took a walk down from the Green Park tube station area to Vauxhall and went a slightly different route to usual, past this interesting piece of 20th century architecture at 66 St James's Street.

Designed by the British Modernist architect Rodney Gordon and opened back in 1984 ...

Interesting to look back now in this shot nothing remains bus wise, the midi Dart from Citybus was an early Dart casualty considering its age, suffering an fire and was stripped for spares. Blue Flash and First (in any great numbers) no longer exist nor does Target stripped of its operators licence back in early 2020.

The Summer 54 service to Bovisand is crying out to be open top to realise the potential of the route, sadly its been single deck for year and a battered old Dart was all that was good for it in this throw back shot.

I have to wait until Monday! That’s SOOOOOO long from now.

I don't know why my Target keeps doing this. Last year I grabbed an Advent Calendar too early, because some knucklehead put THAT out on the shelves early.

Honestly I think the stoners that stock the shelves do it on purpose and then hang out in the security office to watch the reactions of excited shoppers.

LARGER, so you can read the tattoos!!!

This was mama Kutzin's idea. Apparently she's not altogether "okay" with the fact that her girls have become so enamored of being tattooed.

Which is unfortunate, because these girls have a whole gaggle of tattoos.

This was my first "family" shoot, and can't say as it went too poorly. They were okay with not smiling for most of the shots, so I was well within my wheelhouse during the shoot. I even got to do one of them "okay, everybody stand around dad, all Dynasty style. No one smile but mom, yeah, yeah, and dad, you're serious. You've just won the huge oil contract, but your mistress is threatening to reveal that she's pregnant with the baby you conceived when you were supposed to be doing the emergency surgery that ended up killing your daughter's fiance, who was secretly a spy for the Russians."

What, I watched a lot of General Hospital as a kid. Dad loved him some soaps. Don't ask me why, because I've absolutely no idea. All I know is it makes for interesting expressions during photo shoots.

Welcome to my world.

The daily Grand Elk local makes its way back towards Three Rivers and eventually Kalamazoo after working several customers in Bristol, Indiana. The NYC target light signals on a large section of this line were the primary focus of the trip and we were able to shoot trains with almost all of them. The pair of ex CN Canadian cab Geeps made this Canuck feel a little bit at home during this chase.

Target had been one of few stores open during the month of March and April. May 1st this year was marked by more stores opening up. This seemed to boost the numbers of people on the streets and folks coming out to shop. Stores in the area had a certain person count that could be inside the store at any given time. With fewer cash registers open too in order to promote social distancing. As one gets closer to the store there were X's made of tape on the ground to help folks visualize '6ft away'

Sadly the demise of Target Travel seems imminent as they have had their O licence revoked from February.

There was quite a list of issues picked up by the commissioner, poor maintenance of vehicles, running non accessible buses on routes, not displaying an ops licence on a school service....a really inexcusable episode which shows their blatant disregard towards DDA law, DCC routes, members of the public using their services and other road users not to mention their own staff.

Still before all of this came to the forefront here is what looks to be a very well turned out Solo heading across the beautiful rugged moorland of Dartmoor towards Princetown on the 98.

Mama Raccoon at the lookout over the Port Angeles Harbor.

As I was standing on the over look taking some photos of the ships in the harbor. A man with a heavy German accent asked me if I was taking photos of "our little friend?"

I thought, "it's not that little, but yes, I am taking pictures of it.." I then looked at what he was pointing at. This Mama Raccoon was no more than 2 ft from my feet. Just sitting there.

He asked me if it was wild and I told him they are indeed considered wild here.

I don't know if she was just tired, enjoying the view or had been hit by a car, but she just sat there watching the sun go down. Most will not just sit there so close. I noticed she had a runny nose too.

When they threw the switch, turned off the twilight and turned on the carney lights, they lit up this massive targeting device. Rumor had it that Air Force One was over head. It looks like the light powered beam is as squirrely as the the Trumposaurus. This carney shot shows the device. It requires a generator to create a synchronous wave form and an electromagnetic wave collator to form the waves into a powerful beam. I got this description of the device from Dr. Saltzberg, PHD of physics. I captured several heavy action shots after dark that evening,

This display caught my eye first and the title was once again obvious. I am another foray with the nightfall action-blur shots of the colored lights and lovin' it. I worked harder at these action-blur shots at this time. All this stuff is really hit and mostly miss photography. The 200mm report is where I started the zoom. The EXIF is often meaningless. I will try for a series. Anyone up for the challenge?

Can you believe it? It was county fair time that summer and again the carney (Crabtree) came to town, And again, here I was willing to try the remaining light tricks. I tried to find great angles and hand held the camera this time, hoping the rides would provide some extra action. I thought the normal/zoom would provide better action at closer ranges. The carney has already been torn down to head to another venue but I have a load of night light shots to peruse and edit.

I waited for a totally black sky and was aided by heavy weather obscuring the sunset. This was a fast exposure but there is a lot more slack to impart action at 2-3 seconds. It seems that I can never get the experimentation done, another eDDie challenge and foray with different results. I shot at f:/22 and slower than a second later in the dark. I arrived at the parking before 6:00. It is difficult getting three rides running at once but this technique overcomes that problem. I hope this Fire Ball doesn't come apart when I am this close. This ride is centrifugally contained except when the cars nearly hang upside-down. Gravity is really in charge as the cars zip by. I doubt they have the same stresses on the Farris wheel. I look at the results on the monitor and good takes become obvious titles. I expect to delve into these takes over time. Each episode is a learning experience and I extend my list of pointers.

A tiny beautiful chrysomelid we found on the most recent workshop in Belize. Not the greatest of shots here (just a simple record shot right where it was found) - but what a fantastic beetle! A bit of poking around reveals a few similar beetles baled as Ischnocodia annulus but I am unsure... any chrysomelid experts out there?

On another note for any Californians (or anybody else interested!) out there - I'll be teaching a brief introduction to macro photography at the Annenberg Space for Photography in LA Sunday, November 8, 2015. This lecture/hands-on workshop will be open to all skill levels looking to take closer and better photographs! Star Eco Station will be on hand to provide photogenic subjects for everyone to photograph!
