A section of the previous iceberg reveals a uniquely shaped portion of the berg. This was thought to resemble a whale's tail. Of course, the entire visit to Twillingate left us with a whale of a tale.

Both light and shadow are the beginning of all beginnings,
and their tendency to clash is natural.
No one has abolished their values.,
And yet the sun dominates the shadow.
This Higher Light holds the world in its palms,
descending from heaven, spreading across the seas and lands,
Hope, faith - as a guide.
Kindness inspires, heals the soul...
Finally I visited this beautiful place! It was an special day because I was there hiking with my daughter. She started kindergarten and I missing her so much in my weekly adventures.
Being there it really feels like living in a fairy tale book.
Freedom is not free....!

The Long Corridor is a covered walkway in the Summer Palace in Beijing, China. The total length of the Long Corridor is 728 metres and it is decorated with more than 14,000 paintings, especially on the ceiling and its beams, which divide it into 273 sections. Along the corridor there are four octagonal pavilions. Each of these pavilions symbolises the four climatic seasons of the year. The more than 14,000 paintings have a wide variety of subjects: historical figures, famous buildings, landscapes, flowers, birds, fish, insects... Of particular importance are those depicting folk and traditional tales, fables and episodes from classical Chinese literature. As a part of the Summer Palace, the Long Corridor was included on the UNESCO World Heritage List in December, 1998.
There is no doubt that the Long Corridor is a beautiful place during the day. But it is at night, with the arrival of darkness and the lighting of the chinese lanterns, that it reaches its true splendour, creating a special atmosphere and transforming into a long, luminous and sinuous thread in the midst of the darkness. It is at night when it becomes a magical place, where stories, tales, fables, imagination... come to life and arise. Dreams and tales, in the middle of the night and darkness.

Tranquiliza tu mente. Descansa tus ojos y duerme bien.
Goa, India
Goa is India's smallest state by area and the fourth smallest by population. Located on the west coast of India in the region known as the Konkan, it is bounded by the state of Maharashtra to the north, and by Karnataka to the east and south, while the Arabian Sea forms its western coast.
Panaji is the state's capital, while Vasco da Gama is the largest city. The historic city of Margao still exhibits the cultural influence of the Portuguese, who first landed in the early 16th century as merchants, and conquered it soon thereafter. The Portuguese overseas territory existed for about 550 years, until it was annexed by India in 1961.

A male red-winged blackbird perched on a cat tail showcasing its glorious bright red shoulder patches on a windy day at the Panama Flats, Saanich, Vancouver Island, BC.
The Panama Flats property was previously used for a variety of agricultural purposes for many decades drastically altering the land. The Colquitz River, which is an important fish habitat, runs along the western edge of the flats…a nature lover’s paradise.
I was exploring back roads in this area of Washington State looking for interesting buildings or anything old to photograph when I came across this scene. I walked down the road for a little ways but the lone cow in the field didn't seem to want me there so I went back. Turning around I stood there looking at the meandering road as it went through the meadow and forest before going up the hill. Eventually it occurred to to me that if I waited long enough I might see a tin man and a cowardly lion.

There’s something undeniably enchanting about stepping away from the predictable red roses and heart-shaped clichés of Valentine’s Day and embracing an elegant, ethereal white-themed celebration instead.
A secluded dock stretching over a tranquil pond, draped in cascading white wisteria gently swaying in an afternoon breeze. At its centre, the beautiful rustic natural wood dining table from CHEZ MOI, Gracie Dining Table, adorned with a simple vase of freshly picked wisteria blossoms, setting the scene for an intimate dinner.
Perfect for after dinner or dessert, the inviting Jessa bed set from BAZAR rests beneath a stunning lit white tent—a dreamy retreat where pages turn as effortlessly as the evening breeze.
Whether sharing favorite passages, getting lost in a beloved novel, or simply enjoying the quiet companionship of books and each other, this serene escape makes for a Valentine’s Day far more poetic than any bouquet of roses could ever offer.

"Grimm Tales" was the theme of this years Halloween Boutique at Roger's Gardens. This figure was the symbol of the event but I'm not sure who he's supposed to be. I like his style.
The peony dance.
The peonies got tangled in the clouds.
They are attracted by the pale blue distances.
And it seems that right in front of my eyes,
They soared in the sky, flew...
And their petals smoothly and easily
Intertwined in the air, playing,
They were blown far away by the wind.
What they dreamed of was coming true.
And by making a bet with the cicadas,
They were dancing in a waltz of a bright sunset.
Their dance lasted until dawn.
The sun burst in, and everything disappeared somewhere...
but nothing. The ball is not over yet.
Until the evening, the heroes only dispersed.
And they are waiting impatiently for the day to come in heaven.
That's the hour. And the evening arranged everything....(this dance was performed in my garden...)
Don't mind me, but I feel like I am in a fairy tale when the world looks like this... like the Bridge to Terabethia... into a magical world.
I love fairy tales because of their haunting beauty and
magical strangeness. They are set in worlds where anything
can happen. Frogs can be kings, a thicket of brambles can
hide a castle where a royal court has lain asleep for a
hundred years, a boy can outwit a giant, and a girl can
break a curse with nothing but her courage and steadfastness.

I have seen this done many times and always been fascinated with the look and the process. My issue is, I don't really do macro work, so when I get to a scene, I am looking at the vistas, not the roots and soil. So I am trying to train myself to keep an eye out for these things.
On a recent trip to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, while walking a trail in the twilight, looking for lightning bugs, I spotted these two. Not the best mushroom specimens, but they meet the basic needs for these kinds of images. They had to be reaching up above the rest of the foliage, it had to be near dark, but not quite, and ideally they needed a fairly uncomplicated background. Now I admit, this is a simple first attempt. Others do this sooooo much better, but you have to start somewhere. I do plan to keep trying, they offer such a cool look!
Let me know what you think.
