I would like to tell everyone who commented, invited, faved or took a look at my creations (paintings), that I am thankful and apreciated.

A section of the previous iceberg reveals a uniquely shaped portion of the berg. This was thought to resemble a whale's tail. Of course, the entire visit to Twillingate left us with a whale of a tale.

With the stream running over, through and around this tree, it's easy to imagine this as being a home for elves or fairies

..........................................................................................................Autumn sadness is something special,

Sadness, but not just momentary,

Languor of the soul or something similar,

What is not to find a good explanation.

Autumn sadness is not a simple depression,

Medicine with pills is definitely not treated,

There is a lot of love in it and not a drop of aggression,

With her, the soul just rushes from impotence.

Autumn sadness is not a symptom of hopelessness,

Longing and fatigue from hopelessness,

And not love, from the loss of love,

The lack of a chance to return the impossible.

Autumn sadness, as a cold is not treated,

And medicinal potions are unlikely to help,

And yet sometimes I believe in the best,

That there is something very useful in it for the soul...

Echoes of snow

Two wooden houses crowned with snow

stand softly in the morning glow.

A lone small bird, with gentle grace,

perches there to warm the place.

It keeps the secrets of the cold,

the whispered tales the frost has told.

In stillness deep, it waits and hears

the quiet footsteps of the year.

And though the world lies white and bare,

a tender warmth is resting there —

for even in the frozen air,

one tiny heart brings hope to share.

The Long Corridor is a covered walkway in the Summer Palace in Beijing, China. The total length of the Long Corridor is 728 metres and it is decorated with more than 14,000 paintings, especially on the ceiling and its beams, which divide it into 273 sections. Along the corridor there are four octagonal pavilions. Each of these pavilions symbolises the four climatic seasons of the year. The more than 14,000 paintings have a wide variety of subjects: historical figures, famous buildings, landscapes, flowers, birds, fish, insects... Of particular importance are those depicting folk and traditional tales, fables and episodes from classical Chinese literature. As a part of the Summer Palace, the Long Corridor was included on the UNESCO World Heritage List in December, 1998.

There is no doubt that the Long Corridor is a beautiful place during the day. But it is at night, with the arrival of darkness and the lighting of the chinese lanterns, that it reaches its true splendour, creating a special atmosphere and transforming into a long, luminous and sinuous thread in the midst of the darkness. It is at night when it becomes a magical place, where stories, tales, fables, imagination... come to life and arise. Dreams and tales, in the middle of the night and darkness.

Tranquiliza tu mente. Descansa tus ojos y duerme bien.

Goodnight.

Finally I visited this beautiful place! It was an special day because I was there hiking with my daughter. She started kindergarten and I missing her so much in my weekly adventures.

Being there it really feels like living in a fairy tale book.

Did you ever wonder where every great fairy tale begins? Where the good become heroes? And the evil become villains? Welcome. We've been expecting you.

Inspired by Night on an Urban river

I was exploring back roads in this area of Washington State looking for interesting buildings or anything old to photograph when I came across this scene. I walked down the road for a little ways but the lone cow in the field didn't seem to want me there so I went back. Turning around I stood there looking at the meandering road as it went through the meadow and forest before going up the hill. Eventually it occurred to to me that if I waited long enough I might see a tin man and a cowardly lion.

"Grimm Tales" was the theme of this years Halloween Boutique at Roger's Gardens. This figure was the symbol of the event but I'm not sure who he's supposed to be. I like his style.

I love fairy tales because of their haunting beauty and

magical strangeness. They are set in worlds where anything

can happen. Frogs can be kings, a thicket of brambles can

hide a castle where a royal court has lain asleep for a

hundred years, a boy can outwit a giant, and a girl can

break a curse with nothing but her courage and steadfastness.

I have seen this done many times and always been fascinated with the look and the process. My issue is, I don't really do macro work, so when I get to a scene, I am looking at the vistas, not the roots and soil. So I am trying to train myself to keep an eye out for these things.

On a recent trip to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, while walking a trail in the twilight, looking for lightning bugs, I spotted these two. Not the best mushroom specimens, but they meet the basic needs for these kinds of images. They had to be reaching up above the rest of the foliage, it had to be near dark, but not quite, and ideally they needed a fairly uncomplicated background. Now I admit, this is a simple first attempt. Others do this sooooo much better, but you have to start somewhere. I do plan to keep trying, they offer such a cool look!

Let me know what you think.

The theme for March 5th - Cat in a Bag

Can't keep a Curious Cat in a Bag. Bat just could not stay in hiding and had to come out to check out what the hot water guy was doing in his basement, lol. I'm sure he has a lot to say : )

A Plague Tale: Requiem
