Seeing as though so many of you voted for autumn/fall on my stories yesterday, I thought I’d share a photo that fit the theme.

Yesterday, I had the sudden urge to drive to the mountains and chase down what was left of autumn. I’ve seen so many magical trees transform over the last month or so into vibrant reds, oranges and yellows. Crunchy brown leaves covering what was once the vibrant green grass. The winter chill is already upon us and whilst it isn’t my favourite time of year (despite august being my birth month), I am looking forward to some misty mornings and cloudy photo adventures 📷

On a hike at the Lake District, we got little lost when taking a wrong path that took us further inland and not so much uphill. But I was quite happy when I found other interesting things, and this tree trunk covered in moss took me to my fairytale mood.

Protected from the developments of the modern world, the town of Suzdal is like something out of a Russian fairy tale.

I woke early for some reason this morning and decided to head down to a local nature reserve. I was there by six and didn't see another soul until I left at eight - so peaceful! The butterflies were still sleepy so I finally managed to capture a shot of a white before it danced away, too.

Apparently some people think stories of fairies have their roots in sightings of the common blue butterfly, but I thought that this ragged beauty moved much more gracefully, and its tattered wings could definitely have been taken for a fairy skirt fluttering in the breeze!

Many years ago at the Saarbrücken library I started reading my kid a story from a book of Russian fairy tales. It was quite long (a story of twists and turns it was) so we left the pretty princess emprisonned in an impregnable copper tower to be delivered by her hardy hearted suitor on the next Saturday. Damnation... the book was gone. And the next week it was not back yet. It didn'tshow up the week afterwards either. Then we moved out of Saarbrücken, and to this day, wonder how the story went on. And this is why I insist on owning the books I read. The facade here reminded me of the copper tower, but that still doesn't tell me the end of the story.

Civita was founded by Etruscans more than 2,500 years ago. Its population dwindled to just 6 residents over the course of the 20th century. Civita was the birthplace of Saint Bonaventure, who died in 1274. By the 16th century, Civita was beginning to decline, becoming eclipsed by its former suburb Bagnoregio.

At the end of the 17th century, the bishop and the municipal government were forced to move to Bagnoregio because of a major earthquake that accelerated the old town's decline. At that time, the area was part of the Papal States.

In the 19th century, Civita's location was turning into an island and the pace of the erosion quickened as the layer of clay below the stone was reached in the area where today's bridge is situated. Bagnoregio continues as a small but prosperous town, while Civita became known in Italian as il paese che muore ("the town that is dying").

The town is noted for its striking position atop a plateau of friable volcanic tuff overlooking the Tiber river valley, in constant danger of destruction as its edges fall off, leaving the buildings built on the plateau to crumble.

The population today varies from about 12 people in winter to more than 100 in summer.

One of my favourite places in Mumbai is to Dhobi Ghats. It’s a large open air laundry mat of sorts. The people who work here also live here, Many with their families. It’s a community, even with it own school !

Santa Maddalena is located in the rear part of the valley at 1.339 m e has about 370 inhabitants. Here, at the foot of the Ruefen, also one of the symbols of the valley rises, which is the Santa Maddalena church (1,394 m): according to a legend, this is the place where the miraculous image of Santa Maddalena was washed up by the Fopal river. The Odle mountain peaks and the church of Santa Maddalena are the symbols of the Val di Funes.

Name: Winter Tale (Sunshine var.)

You must wonder, why winter tale? Because this picture, like every other picture out there has a story to tell. Maybe some of you just shoot, whithout looking to say something through the image you capture, but for some of us, with a greather imagination, when we press the trigger we try to capture a feeling, a mood, a senzation.

Now, imagine that the road behind the fence can lead anywhere you whish to, you just have to dare to follow it. And, as the white color simbolizes "a new beggining", I think we should try. What do you say?!

Enjoy the ride!

She knows how to be cool xD.

The Quantock Hills is a range of hills west of Bridgwater in Somerset, England. The Quantock Hills were England's first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, being designated in 1956, and consist of heathland, oak woodlands, ancient parklands and agricultural land.

Natural England have designated the Quantock Hills as national character area 144. They are entirely surrounded by NCA 146: the Vale of Taunton and Quantock Fringes.

The hills run from the Vale of Taunton Deane in the south, for about 15 miles (24 km) to the north-west, ending at Kilve and West Quantoxhead on the coast of the Bristol Channel. They form the western border of Sedgemoor and the Somerset Levels. From the top of the hills on a clear day, it is possible to see Glastonbury Tor and the Mendips to the east, Wales as far as the Gower Peninsula to the north, the Brendon Hills and Exmoor to the west, and the Blackdown Hills to the south. The highest point on the Quantocks is Wills Neck, at 1,261 feet (384 m). Soil types and weather combine to support the hills' plants and animals. In 1970 an area of 6,194.5 acres (2,506.8 ha) was designated as a Biological Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Archaeological landscape features include Bronze Age round barrows, extensive ancient field systems and Iron Age hill forts. Evidence from Roman times includes silver coins discovered in West Bagborough. The hills are now a peaceful area popular with walkers, mountain bikers, horse riders and tourists. They explore paths such as the Coleridge Way (the poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge lived in Nether Stowey from 1797 to 1799) or visit places of interest in the surrounding villages.

Prompt: Ultra-detailed whimsical digital fine art illustration of an open storybook, with its pages transforming into a magical three-dimensional forest scene. On one side, a realistic westie puppy finely detailed emerges from among blooming wildflowers and leafy greenery. On the other side, a soft, fluffy rabbit crouches on the grass, surrounded by mushrooms and tiny blossoms. Behind them, lush trees and rocky mountains rise up from the book’s pages, with a bright sky and birds soaring above. The scene blends fantasy and realism, evoking the feeling of a living fairy tale leaping from the pages of a book. Style: Whimsical fine art, highly detailed, storybook fantasy Mood: Magical, charming, enchanting Lighting: Soft natural daylight with warm highlights Color Palette: Earthy browns, natural greens, soft whites, touches of bright floral colors

This digital fine art was created using OpenAI Sora AI and Photoshop

Light setup was done only with flashlights this time, thanks for viewing.

The three houses from the classic fairy tale. The brick house features a furnished interior and a big oven to burn any wolves that somehow end up down the chimney.

The Fairy Tale

I took this image in Cochem, one wonders what tall tales were spoken on the phone, and now it is used as a mini library with story books.
