Series taken around the Taipo cycle lane not far from where my parents live. There are an abundance of egrets around the cove.
There used to be a 4WD road to Dillon Homestead but sections of it have been washed away including this section quite recently. It was easy enough to get around.
We saw a commercial rafting group further down - it looked a lot of fun!

沙螺洞 - Sha Lo Tung
瓢蟲是典型的半翅目天敵，肉食性瓢蟲以蚜蟲、介殼蟲為食。屬於草食性的食植瓢蟲亞科（Epilachninae）則是極具破壞力的農業害蟲，例如墨西哥豆瓢蟲（Epilachna varivestis）。然而瓢蟲經常被利用作為生物防治劑，引進瓢蟲物種能夠驅趕並取代既有的瓢蟲。
某些種瓢蟲遭受到強烈物理刺激時，會呈現假死狀態，並且從關節處和刺處分泌出黃色的粘性刺激性體液。瓢蟲的體液具有強烈的異臭與苦味，藉此可以迴避外來敵人的攻擊。 瓢蟲鮮豔的體色可以說是警告外敵用的警戒色。因此鳥之類的生物少有捕捉瓢蟲，但仍然有寄生蜂、寄生蠅、菌類等天敵存在。此外螳螂會捕食馬鈴薯瓢蟲的幼蟲。
依種類不同則食性迥異，主要可以區分為捕食蚜蟲、介殼蟲之類的肉食性，以白粉病菌等維生的菌食性，以茄科植物等維生的草食性共3種類。因此對農作物而言可以類分為益蟲與害蟲。近年來肉食性種類在農作物的有機栽培時，被利用為取代農藥而使用的生物農藥。

Note: The trithemis genus is African but there are 5 that have managed to move to Asia . On landing, many species within this subfamily will almost immediately lower their wings, which explains the name!

Recently during sunset, a line of disparate and lingering clouds caught my attention. They hung in mid-air, against a vast mountain with very delicate power lines running on its top. In the shadow area, you can briefly make out that it was captured near urban areas—it is that of the Tai Po district in Hong Kong. But it is not the focus here. The silhouette forms is what interest me, so I left them hidden in the shadow. Could I have pumped them up with some Photoshopping? Yes, I guess I could but then you would miss the delicate lines. Minimalism is the aim. When we remove the details, we can see the tiny details more succinctly, I believe.

Crossing the Taipo River via this cableway was a lot of fun - though getting there wasn't.
We tried to cross the river upstream but decided it was too deep and fast, so the alternate is to climb up a very steep loose rocky gully/track to a bluff and then back down to almost river level where the cableway is situated. The climb was so steep I didn't want to stop to take any photos! But going across in the cableway was great with good views of the river.
Not far to our hut for the night from here.

I shoot this when I was walking to Taipo plaza one that day, then I saw this spectacular angle, looking up while standing in between two apartment blocks.
Local transport in Hong Kong, KMB - Kowloon Motor Bus, car L298 on route Nº 64K at the Taipo Market (New Territories) KRCR station terminus.
After Mid Taipo Hut, the Taipo River valley opened up and we walked through open knee-high grassy areas. Unfortunately, this proved to be a trap for Harry as he twisted his ankle in an unseen hole.
Other sections of the walk were on dry rocky river beds such as this. This is looking downstream.
